The pride engraved in the bones of the Korean people would never allow them to compromise with those despicable Huaxia people on sothing like this.
Listening to Li Lina describing her plan with that gleeful look in her eyes, as if she could already see that man surnad Zhou groveling and begging for rcy at her feet, Song Zhesuo opened his mouth, then closed it again.
But after hearing her out, it didn’t sound like there was anything wrong with it; it seed completely doable, and he knew there was no way he could stop Li Lina anyway, so Song Zhesuo just nodded.
"Lina, you’re a real genius, I totally agree... so, shall we head back to the hotel now?"
Song Zhesuo swept his gaze around; the alley was still quiet, but for so reason, he suddenly felt a little uneasy.
He kept feeling like a pair of eyes was staring at him from sowhere, making his whole body feel uncomfortable.
Seeing that Li Lina had nodded in agreent, after getting his bearings, Song Zhesuo hurriedly pulled her along and headed out.
They turned through several streets and alleys in a row; seeing that the main street was just up ahead, less than far away, Song Zhesuo couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Just as he was about to speed up and take Li Lina straight out, a shadow flickered, and a dark-skinned man stepped out to block their way.
The shabby shirt couldn’t hide his burly fra, and there was a greenish tattoo on his arm. As for what race the man was, Song Zhesuo wasn’t too sure, but he looked kind of like he was from Southeast Asia.
Seeing the man’s clearly ill-intentioned expression, Song Zhesuo was just about to pull Li Lina back, when footsteps sounded behind them and several more dark-skinned n appeared, staring at them in silence.
Both Song Zhesuo and Li Lina were creeped out by the way those n were looking at them. Forcing himself to stay calm, Song Zhesuo said:
"Wh-what... what do you want?"
"Money, money!"
The man blocking their way rubbed his fingers together and said an English word in a not-so-standard accent.
Hearing that it was just a mugging, Song Zhesuo inexplicably felt relieved. He was just about to pull out his wallet to pay them off when Li Lina, beside him, refused to play along.
Her expression was haughty, her voice sharp: "You bunch of dumb mutts who don’t know your place, do you even know who I am? You dare to rob ? Believe it or not, the mont I call the police, the Huaxia cops will mobilize the whole damn force and drag every last one of you in. I’d say you’re just tired of living..."
Hearing Li Lina cursing them out, cold sweat imdiately broke out on Song Zhesuo’s back. Luckily, she was speaking Korean. All he could do was pray that these n of unknown nationality couldn’t understand what she was saying.
They really did seem like they didn’t understand, but Song Zhesuo overlooked one thing: even if they didn’t understand the words, facial expressions and tone of voice are universal no matter where you are in the world.
The leader seed instantly enraged by Li Lina’s bossy, commanding face. Without the slightest hesitation he raised his hand and slapped Li Lina across the face.
Smack!
The blow was so heavy that one side of Li Lina’s face imdiately turned bruised and purple, and her recently corrected nose seed to have been knocked crooked again...
After a brief mont of daze, Li Lina still didn’t feel any fear. The intense pain and the humiliation of her nose possibly being ruined again made her scream the mont she ca back to her senses.
"Bastard, I’m going to kill you..."
Smack!
Her scream only earned her another backhanded slap from the man.
Seeing Li Lina knocked to the ground, the man impatiently gestured to his companions behind him. They imdiately rushed forward, ignoring Song Zhesuo’s pleas and the woman’s shrieking, pressing the two of them to the ground and raining punches and kicks down on them.
Once the two had been beaten to the point they couldn’t make a sound, the n quickly searched them from head to toe, stripping them of everything valuable. About a minute later, the alley grew quiet again, leaving only the groaning of Song Zhesuo and Li Lina.
No one knew how much ti had passed when the dizzy, dazed Song Zhesuo felt soone helping him up. He was just about to beg for rcy when he saw that the people standing in front of him were two uniford patrol officers.
Another hour later, having just had her wounds bandaged at the hospital, Li Lina was still yelling in disbelief:
"What do you an we have to patiently wait? Wait until when?"
She simply couldn’t believe what this officer was saying. What did he an "that spot just happened to be a blind zone for the surveillance caras"? What did he an "they were possibly transient foreign laborers committing opportunistic cris"?
So basically, what he was saying was that this case simply couldn’t be solved, right?
"I’m going to file a complaint against you. A bunch of useless trash, all of you are trash!"
Li Lina had no intention of listening to the officer’s explanation. She stared at him with her one eye that could still open, and her voice went sharp again.
The officer who’d co to give them an update was already sick of this Korean woman. From the mont they started dealing with her to now, she’d said the word "complaint" at least a dozen tis. Com-plain, com-plain, complain your f*cking mother, why don’t you?
So he just coolly tossed out his badge number and walked away without looking back.
"Ahh, I’m going to kill them, bastards, all of them are bastards... Zhesuo, how can they be like this? I’m so mad and so upset!"
Li Lina swept everything off the bedside table onto the ground, venting as she cursed. Then she looked pitifully at Song Zhesuo, who was also wrapped in bandages all over, trying to find so comfort.
She had no idea that with her face all swollen and bruised, the way she looked in that mont actually made Song Zhesuo feel a little sick, but he didn’t dare show it. He could only force a smile and say:
"Lina, how about we just go back ho early..."
"Go back ho? No way, I haven’t finished getting revenge on that bastard surnad Zhou yet..."
Before she could finish, Li Lina suddenly realized sothing. She frantically started feeling around left and right. "My phone... no, my phone got stolen by those guys too!"
Song Zhesuo was speechless. Once again, he had to reassess Lina’s IQ. What kind of robber is going to kindly leave you your phone?
Not to ntion your phone is inlaid with diamonds...
As he was thinking this, Song Zhesuo suddenly froze.
It just so happened to be a blind spot with no surveillance, the perpetrators just so happened to be people whose identities couldn’t be traced, and it just so happened that right after Li Lina talked about taking revenge, this group of people "coincidentally" showed up, not only robbing them of everything they had, but also inexplicably beating them senseless.
And you had to know, at the ti they were less than ten ters away from the main street entrance...
A chill crept into Song Zhesuo’s heart. He sat up straight on the hospital bed and looked around in panic. He didn’t see anything, but that creeping sense of being preyed upon surfaced in his mind again.
Go back ho, he had to go back ho!
No matter what that crazy woman Li Lina said, he wasn’t going to care anymore. He was going to get on tonight’s flight and leave imdiately!
...
"Got it."
Listening to Lai Yuanbao’s quiet report, Zhou Wang, who was trying on a watch in a Rolex boutique, had a flash of surprise in his eyes. Then he nodded, signaling that he’d heard him.
"So... are we letting them go?"
Lai Yuanbao lowered his voice to ask for instructions again.
"What do you girls think of this Rainbow Daytona?"
Zhou Wang first smiled and asked the girls’ opinions. After listening to their chirpy responses, he signaled to the clerk to go ahead and write up the bill. Only then did he turn to Lai Yuanbao and say, "Do I look like I’m in the mob to you?"
"Uh... no, you don’t."
Lai Yuanbao shook his head imdiately.
"Exactly."
Zhou Wang said irritably, "I don’t know where those robbers popped out from either, ahem... but there’s a will of heaven in the dark. They’ve already gotten the lesson they deserved, that’s about enough. What, you still want to have them tied up and chop off their hands and feet or sothing?"
"Mr. Zhou is right, I understand."
Lai Yuanbao hurriedly bowed his head in reply.
"That’s that then."
Zhou Wang checked the ti. It was already past ten at night, and the shops in Harbour City were more or less starting to close. Figuring it was about ti, he pulled out his phone and sent a ssage to Qi Jiayi.
"Where are you?"
