Chapter 223:
Chapter 223: Internal Conflicts Within the Blood Clan
As soon as Aiden had this thought, he quickly realized it wasn’t very likely.
Five years ago, the Blood Moon Cult, led in the shadows by "Mr. Blood Robe," had been thoroughly dismantled by the Silver City Inquisition. All cult mbers, except for the mastermind himself, had been eliminated. Even if there were any lingering associates, after being subjected to a deep investigation by the Inquisition and five more years passing, they should have scattered like birds.
In other words, for Mr. Blood Robe, the banner of the "Blood Red Full Moon" held no value anymore. Reviving it would only alert the Inquisition, bringing him nothing but trouble.
Most importantly, philia had once ntioned that Mr. Blood Robe goal was to eliminate “Aiden Galord” to complete the final ritual for mastering the authority of "Hatred." If he had finally found a way to accomplish this, he would have co for Aiden directly, rather than wasting ti forming another cult.
So, the Blood Moon Cult activity Kyle ntioned had nothing to do with that person?
At that mont, Aiden recalled what Abigail had once told him during a previous visit.
Abigail had explained that the Blood Moon Cult was a long-standing organization, consisting of mbers from both the Blood Clan and humans who sought immortality, all worshipping the god of death. Around two hundred years ago, the god of death had attempted to seize the authority of reproduction but was gravely wounded in the process, leading to the cult's decline.
Connected to the Blood Clan... Kyle was a prince of the Blood Clan as well. Could it be that the group he was referring to was this “authentic” Blood Moon Cult?
“The Blood Moon Cult resud its activities half a year ago. I’ve been keeping a close eye on them since then,” Kyle continued, “Back then, they were active in Gistas, but this month, they suddenly relocated to the autonomous State.” He went on, “I followed them here and happened to hear about Ophelia’s recent arrest in this place.”
Active in Gistas, then relocating to the autonomous State this month?
Aiden suddenly realized sothing.
The movents of this group bore a striking resemblance to those of the Bountiful Mother Cult. Even the timing matched up.
After the Bountiful Mother Cult incident, the Inquisition reported sothing rather peculiar.
The original body of Sister nawei, left at the scene, showed signs of being drained by a vampire.
If it wasn’t so low-rank vampire passing by who was desperate enough to feed on a corpse, then it was likely that soone was checking for any trace of divinity remaining in that body.
Sister nawei, the true leader of the Bountiful Mother Cult— is sothing that was not widely known.
But if soone had been at the abandoned mine that day, witnessing nawei battle with the three arch-witches, and had even a basic understanding of the powers linked to the authority of “Reproduction,” they might have deduced the truth.
In other words, soone may have been secretly watching the Bountiful Mother Cult’s activities all along. And that soone… could very well be this original version of the Blood Moon Cult.
Of course, all of this was purely speculation and based on the assumption that everything Kyle Kaodo had said was trustworthy.
Aiden realized he couldn’t take the words of the Blood Clan prince at face value. There was still a possibility that Kyle had approached him with hidden intentions.
What if the one who had been monitoring the Bountiful Mother Cult, and who had drawn blood from nawei corpse, was actually him…
Regardless, hearing the term “Blood Red Full Moon” from this person’s mouth was not sothing Aiden could ignore.
“You say you’ve been acting to stop them—what do you an by that?” Aiden probed, looking straight at Kyle. “What kind of conflict do you have with them?”
“Let’s just say we belong to different factions.” Kyle shrugged. “Within the Blood Clan, there are actually two factions. One is the ‘Death God Faction,’ followers of the god of death—they’re the ones who ford the Blood Moon Cult. The other is my side, the ‘Ancestor Faction,’ which follows the progenitor of the Blood Clan. There’s been longstanding friction between the two groups, and we’re always at odds.”
At this point, Aiden could finally confirm that the “Blood Moon Cult” Kyle was referring to was indeed the original version Abigail had ntioned.
After all, five years ago, the Blood Moon Cult dismantled by the Inquisition hadn’t involved many Blood Clan mbers at all.
Aiden felt a slight sense of relief but quickly realized that even if it had nothing to do with “Mr. Blood Robe,” having such a dangerous group starting up activities in Silver City was sothing he couldn’t just ignore.
Moreover, this Blood Moon Cult, which worshipped the god of death, seed to be targeting the Bountiful Mother Cult—a cult that, truthfully, had been destroyed at his own hands.
“Following the Blood Clan’s progenitor makes so sense, but why would any of you worship the god of death?” Aiden asked.
“The curse upon our progenitor is said to have co from the god of death,” Kyle replied. “Many in the Blood Clan hope for the god of death’s forgiveness, hoping to free themselves from the thirst for blood and their fear of sunlight. But, if you ask , it’s a pointless effort. I’ve never heard of any Blood Clan mber who’s actually broken the curse.”
“So, you chose to follow your progenitor?”
“Well…” Kyle scratched his head. “I follow him because I made a pact with him a long ti ago. After all, it’s thanks to him that my silly sister and I are still ‘alive’ today.”
Aiden gathered two pieces of information from this: first, the Blood Clan’s progenitor was still alive and appeared to be subtly involved in countering the current Blood Moon Cult’s activities; second, Kyle and his sister were likely personally turned by the progenitor himself.
“What happened back then?” Aiden asked offhandedly.
“That’s personal,” Kyle replied with a playful shrug, brushing off the topic. “So, can you tell ? Was it the Inquisition that took down the Blood Moon Cult operating in the autonomous State five years ago?”
"That's correct," Aiden nodded. "But that Blood Moon Cult was likely different from the one you’re talking about. There were no Blood Clan mbers in it at all—just a fake cult using the na."
"I see," Kyle murmured, stroking his chin, as if sothing had just clicked.
"So, this current Blood Moon Cult," Aiden continued, "why did they co to the autonomous State this ti?"
"I'm not entirely sure. My orders were simply to hinder them, no matter what they’re up to," Kyle replied with a smile. "I figure they’re not up to anything good, so, since you used to work for the Inquisition... why not let them know?"
Aiden caught on quickly—Kyle had brought up all this information about the Blood Moon Cult after learning of his past role as an Inquisition officer.
Kyle was deliberately leaking the cult's movents in Silver City to him, hoping the Inquisition would step in and act against them—just like how the Witch gathering had gone after the Bountiful Mother Cult before.
