After Zane uses Shadow Chains to restrain the seniors and escape with Sera, they manage to get far enough that the seniors unexpectedly stop pursuing. Zane, still cautious, scans the area with Void's Eye, but there's no sign of pursuit.
Later that night, just as Zane is starting to relax in his dorm room, he hears a soft knock... followed by the door creaking open.
ZANE: "Sera? What are you doing here again?"
She tiptoes in, whispering nervously, "They're not chasing anymore, but I don't know why... it's too quiet. It's creeping out."
Zane sighs, rubbing the back of his head. "You're sleeping here again, aren't you?"
She grins, holding up her pillow. "Obviously."
Zane groans, but doesn't argue. She heads into his bathroom to change into her pajamas again, and when she cos out, she flops onto the bed beside him like she owns it.
As they lie in the dim light of the room, Sera turns to Zane. "You're not so bad, y'know. Even if you're a little scary sotis."
Zane raises a brow. "Thanks, I guess?"
They both chuckle softly, and as the quiet hum of the academy at night settles in, they fall asleep—unaware that soone, sowhere, is still watching.
