As the academy grounds buzzed with the sounds of students preparing to leave, Zane stood outside the dormitory, watching Sera cheerfully pack the last of her things. She humd to herself, folding clothes and sealing her bags with graceful ease.
Zane leaned against the doorway, arms crossed. "You look happy."
Sera bead. "Of course I am! I finally get to see my little brother again. He's probably taller than now!"
Zane chuckled softly but the mont faded as he looked out toward the airships waiting beyond the academy walls.
Sera paused, sensing sothing in his silence. "What about you? Going anywhere?"
He gave a half-smile. "Nowhere to go, really."
She blinked. "Wait—you're not going to stay here alone, are you?"
"I've got Nyx," Zane replied with a shrug. "And shadows. Plenty of those."
"Nope," she said, grabbing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder. "You're coming with ."
"Huh?"
"You've t my chaos. Ti to et the rest of my chaos. Mom's a great cook. You'll love it."
Zane blinked. "Are you sure?"
"I'm dragging you along whether you like it or not," she said, smirking. "You carried all my bags on the last trip. What makes you think you're getting out of this one?"
Nyx's voice echoed in his head. She's scary when she gets like this. I like it.
Zane exhaled, amused. "Fine. I'll follow your lead."
Sera grinned and tossed him one of her heavier bags. "Great! You're officially part of the family now."
Zane followed after her, heart lighter than it had been in a long ti.
