She was given an ultimatum to kill him and she could not do anything reckless that would bounce back to her.

’ Let’s think straight and focus on the most possible quest.’ Abrielle thought, the inability to kill Cedric before the first scene didn’t lead to instant death, although it was disadvantageous to her.

The first quest to find the hermit witch was a bit tricky, but at least the hermit witch was a character she knew and designed. The hermit witch was a con artist who travelled through several kingdoms using her magical abilities to defraud people.

Abrielle, in the original plot, had been almost defrauded by the witch at a ti when she was desperate and was looking for a way to make Cedric love her when she started to realize her husband’s obsession with the female lead.

It was during her encounter with this con artist that Abrielle found out she was not as talentless as her parents said, but her magical nature was sealed.

That con artist could be anywhere in Darconia right now. The best thing would be to order a search notice through a guide, but after her first experience with Shadow Claw, she would rather not approach one directly.

The journey continued nonstop with just a single lunch break until it was dark, and they arrived at their stop for the night. The town of Swamp Creek is near the boundary of Danbury. Even during lunch, Cedric didn’t approach her; he was back to being cold.

The street in Swamp Creek was very lively at night because it was a regular stop for travellers. The carriage stopped in front of the hotel, which was the most luxurious place in town.

Cedric’s horse stopped in front of the carriage door; he stepped down to help Abrielle get off the carriage. Abrielle understood the reason for his actions was to keep up appearances in front of a public place. Since there might be eyes that recognize them.

"Thank you," Abrielle mumbled after her legs touched the ground. "It’s nothing," he replied; his hold on her hand was weirdly warm, but she didn’t want to think about that.

They made their way into the luxurious hotel that seed like a mini castle. Although it didn’t hold a candle to the winter castle,, it was still impressive. Their room was already arranged ahead of ti so they just headed straight to their room.

Unfortunately, they were stopped on the way by a sunny voice. The owner of the voice was soone Abrielle would have loved to put on her kill list, but his fate was already sealed.

"Cedric, what a coincidence we made the sa stop." Prince Alfonso chid; he was descending the stairs to the lobby, and in his arms was a young lady, which was not shocking considering he was a seasoned playboy.

"Everyone always stops at Swamp Creek," Cedric stated, the obvious, causing Alfonso to laugh. Abrielle didn’t understand why they bothered talking to each other when they hated their guts.

"I expect the war hero would not be scared of the haunted creek at night." Alfonso chid; the main reason most travellers stopped at Swap Creek town close to dusk was because of the neighbouring nether forest that was plagued by thieves and ghouls at night.

"At least I am fighting wars instead of playing around with low noble daughters. " Cedric sneered before walking past Alfonso. Alfonso was not affected by Cedric’s words, which were true because the girl in his arms was the second daughter of the count of Swamp Creek.

They were too close, "I am entertaining the lady; you should learn from , or soone might steal your wife’s heart under your nose." Alfonso teased Cedric with a hidden aning in words. Cedric didn’t answer him but there was a subtle change in his mood.

Alfonso just laughed behind them giving Abrielle a strong urge to roll her eyes at him. The last person she would like in this world was Alfonso.

They made their way up the stairs and then to their designated room. Soft clicking sounds echoed from underneath Abrielle’s heels. The door clicked open and they ca in.

The room was of fine taste, with a king-size bed and furniture and interior decorations picked with class.

There was a bathroom and changing room attached to the main bedroom, which was convenient since Abrielle and Cedric were to share the room. "Dinner will be served soon," Evelyn inford them before stepping out. Abrielle was getting settled on an armchair.

Everyone left the room to give them so privacy; Cedric walked up to the bed where he sat, then raked his hand through his hair out of habit; he looked exhausted from riding on horseback. There was this odd silence until he eventually spoke. "Do you like Alfonso?" He asked, startling Abrielle, wondering if her husband was suspicious of her. But why Alfonso, of all people?

"Playboys are not my type, Alfonso is too annoying," Abrielle answered; instead of Cedric being appeased by her answer, he seed offended.

"So you have a type, let guess, soone charismatic," he ntioned, and Abrielle felt like he was talking about the crown prince. Why did it feel like Cedric was insecure?

"Charisma is a good quality but I prefer soone kind and not a puzzle to understand. Although Alfonso seems like an open book he gives out this feeling I don’t like." Abrielle answered. There was a knock on the door, and Evelyn ca in accompanied by so of the hotel staff; they started to set the dinner table and served the als on the plates.

"Will you like to serve you during the al or wait outside?" She asked; Cedric beckoned her to leave, which she politely did.

As soon as the door was closed behind, Cedric continued the conversation that seed like he was laying a trap for her. "I am none of the things you ntioned," Cedric ntioned pulling a seat by the table for Abrielle before he sat across.

The feeling he was giving her made her wonder if she should fear poison being in the al. "You are kind, Your Highness; Evelyn told about how to assist the maid’s family, who Sarah killed," Abrielle answered, causing Cedric to arch a brow at her.

"Kind and I can’t be in the sa sentence. I am sure you have heard the rumours about . The heartless bloodlust demon." He drawled deliberately, making her scared.

"Do you know the reason Alfonso hates is because I almost killed him when we were little?" His voice gave her chills akin to a devil, the glass of red wine was tilted close to his lips and looked like he was drinking blood from the dark shade.
