Cedric already knew the only way he could leave Netheralis was if he had perfect control over his powers. Elysia nor Thamiel explained why but he guessed it was because his strong presence might upset the balance of things in the mortal realm
This would draw the attention of the gods of Elaris besides there was also the curse, the reason he has those strange marks. The strange tattoos are associated with his powers. They were demon curse marks, and the more his power demonic presence grew the more the marks grew.
They were the bonds tying him to Netheralis, yet that wasn’t his biggest obstacle. It was sothing else.
Cedric felt his heart pound fast in his chest.
Fear,
When was the last ti he was truly afraid? The thought of there being sothing which was truly capable of keeping him away from her made him truly scared.
He was pathetic. Yes, he knew that. Most people saw love as a weakness. Maybe it was. He could not stay away for long. Whenever he wasn’t next to her, breathing the sa air as her, it felt like he was losing a part of himself..
Was it obsession or love? He did not care, all he knew was she was a part of him, one he could not live without. "What is it?" Cedric’s voice grew hoarse.
He was scared to find out, but he had to know. Raziel slowly turned towards him. The look on his face made Cedric’s heart squeeze.
Pity?
Raziel felt pity for him; it was a deep sense of concern which should not be in his eyes, especially for the man who had every right to hate the son born out of his wife’s betrayal.
Yet this man felt pity for him. A strange compassion even his own father didn’t feel for him. What was so bad that Raziel pitied him?
"Do you know why your mother’s and father’s love ended up the way it did?" Raziel asked him.
Raziel always spoke to Cedric in puzzles. "Eleanor’s jealousy," Cedric answered. Raziel shook his head.
"It is more than that. It is sothing deeper." He ntioned, "Fate, it was against their fate." Raziel answered. Cedric was taken aback. His mind drifted. Elysia had ntioned she never truly loved Kaiden, despite how intense their feelings were.
It was all because she was fated to Raziel. It was against her fate. Cedric wanted to ask what fate had to do with him. Raziel read through his panic.
"As I have ntioned before, you are more of our kind than humans. The sa rule might apply to you... Never has there been a situation where a god or demon was fated to a mortal. It is almost impossible." Raziel explained, his words hit Cedric like a tidal wave. He backed away, stumbling a few feet. The bed was behind him, and Cedric ended up tripping over it.
He was tired of hearing the sa thing every ti. Tired of them saying it was impossible. "I am human, whatever rule that is doesn’t apply to ." Cedric refuted
"If the legends are real, the Caephyr and von Drakkar families were started by gods and their descendants weren’t bound by this rule. Why is my case different like everything that makes stuck in Netheralis?" Cedric Barked at Raziel. Raziel didn’t flinch, nor was he affected by the thick aura slowly leaking out from Cedric..
"You are just different, you always knew that. You never fitted in. Unlike those descendants, you didn’t take more of your human side. You are practically a male clone of your mother." Raziel patiently explained what he could.
Cedric’s hands clutched the wooden fra of his bed. His entire body was shaking. "That’s a lie", Cedric’s voice was barely a whisper, but he knew the truth. The scary reality is that his soul was more at peace in Netheralis instead of back there. Like this was where he was ant to belong.
’No, what are you thinking? You don’t belong here but by her side." His thoughts snapped at him. His soul wasn’t going to accept that.
"As long as she isn’t your fated mate your love story is bound to end in tragedy. You might fight the odds to be by her side, only to be the biggest curse in her life, worse_" Raziel paused.
"You might be the reason she dies. So think about it, is she safer with you or away from you?" Raziel delivered those words.
They felt heavy on his shoulders. Cedric was silent, lost for words. Raziel knew it was better for him to let Cedric think, "just think about it." Raziel pulled the door open..
The soft creaking sound echoed. "If you truly love her you would be able to let her go for her own good."
Cedric glanced up, and they all said at the sa ti. Cedric was destined to kill Abrielle. He could not imagine himself hurting her, his heart bled
He could not stay away from her either. "Why are you warning ? You should not care this much after all you are ant to hate my existence." Cedric’s voice was slow and steady.
His eyes were heavy with emotion. He needed to know why this man, who should hate him, actually cared more than his own father.
"You remind of my past, being tied to soone everyone tells you is a mistake." Raziel’s words weren’t what Cedric expected.
Elysia once said he had sacrificed a lot for her. Were they forbidden? "My path was rough and filled with pain and sacrifice. I don’t want you to go through the sa. Elysia would break seeing any of her children suffer."
"She doesn’t want you to have a fate worse than hers and Kaiden’s or one that was cruel like ours. Although we eventually found happiness because it was our fate. It ca at a cost but yours is different...."
Cedric wondered what was the pain behind his eyes. The pain which shaped his love for Elysia. The sa pain which even made Raziel concerned about him.
"The woman you were ready to risk it all for has she ever admitted to loving you? To even consider the possibility of her being your perfect half. Love is cruel if it is against fate."
