They had to wait till a night Cedric wasn’t in to leave; for an odd reason, Abrielle felt Zoltana was hiding sothing from her, but she didn’t pry much. She was going to give her evidence of doubt since the system trusts Zoltana.
Later that day Abrielle spent her ti at the study trying to go through the monthly reports. Her main goal was to find a way to siphon funds in a way Lucas and Cedric would not be inford of. More like a little scam plot.
Cedric didn’t still go to the palace, it felt like he was trying to defy soone. Abrielle was seated on a small desk different from the main desk ant for Cedric; conveniently, there was a window by the desk that made it easier for her to get able to take sneak peeks outside.
The training grounds were in the backyard close to the study, so from the study window, she had a good view of him. Although she wasn’t stealing glances or anything, while studying, her eyes were drawn to the sounds of swords clashing against each other.
She caught the sight of Cedric duelling against Elias, although she might not call it a duel, but a one-sided fight against Elias, who could barely hold his ground. It made her wonder why Cedric bothered duelling with his subordinates when he was way stronger than them.
Yuki owed, drawing its master’s attention to him; up till now, she hadn’t inford Cedric of the cat that had already made the castle its ho; Abrielle never bothered to ntion it. A busy guy like him could care less if his wife kept a cat. Although there was a possibility he already knew.
"What’s wrong Yuki?" Abrielle Asked picking up the white feline from the floor to rub its fur while it purred. Yuki didn’t react and just enjoyed Abrielle rubbing its fur. It was a little attention seeker.
"Are you hungry?" She asked; hearing about food, Yuki finally reacted. It was already noon so she thought Yuki was hungry, so she called over a maid to take away the cat and feed it. To her shock, Yuki didn’t want to part with Abrielle, her brows furrowed, wondering what the cat wanted.
"Just leave with her; I need to concentrate while working. I can’t accompany you to eat," Abrielle said as a matter of fact. Despite his protest, Yuki was still carried away by the maid while the princess could finally focus on her work.
After a lot of thinking she thought of using an indirect thod to get funds. An inflated budget, from the thod Lucas suggested, the household was to make direct paynts for her expenditures, but Abrielle decided to speak to Cedric about her having an allowance to manage her expenses herself.
That way, she can inflate the value or include non-existing items to increase the budget. This was a common thod used by most wives. They would request an inflated receipt, which would be submitted to their household while the extra money was kept in rchant banks.
Yes, banks existed in this era, though they weren’t really popular and were found mostly in big cities. Since Abrielle planned on keeping an ergency escape fund, the best way was to keep it outside of the castle far from Cedric’s reach. To even make things better, the account could be opened with an alias na.
It was a simple plan and she had her fingers crossed that it wasn’t going to bounce back. The doors to the study were gently pushed open, and Evelyn walked in. "Good afternoon, your Highness; I am here to inform you the perfu designer has arrived," Evelyn said.
Abrielle was a bit confused as her attention drew from the report she was trying to understand to Evelyn. She didn’t rember asking for perfu. "I don’t rember making such a request." She blurted.
Evelyn subtly nodded, then quickly explained, "I am aware of that; since you moved in, you have been using supplies hand-picked for you, but we thought you might have your preferences."
Understanding where Evelyn was coming from, Abrielle agreed; she was even getting a bit bored of working and seeing numbers. "Give a minute, I will want to drop by Lucas’s office before heading to see the perfu designer." She answered, getting on her feet and grabbing so of the worksheets.
They made their way out of Cedric’s office, and convenient enough, Lucas’s office was not too far off. Evelyn knocked on the door instead of Abrielle, soon after the door clicked open with Lucas standing at the entrance. "Good afternoon, Your Highness. Is there sothing you need that requires my assistance?" He enquired, getting straight to the point; Lucas was rather an impatient man.
"It’s nothing much; I was wondering if you could later go through so of the accounts I reorganized when you are free." She ntioned handling the sheets to him. Lucas still accepted despite not expecting much from her. She didn’t bother going inside the office and went straight to business.
"I will go through them as soon as I can," Lucas answered, glancing through the sheets Abrielle gave him. It was extra work on his side. He was a bit confused about the way Abrielle made the accounts, but he didn’t voice his confusion as the thod left him a bit intrigued. "Just take your ti," Abrielle answered, then grabbed her skirt and was about to leave when sothing popped into her head.
"Lucas, before I forget, I was wondering if I could ask you about my expenses. Is it possible I could manage my budget based on an allocation Instead of you handling the paynts directly?" Her question was rather straightforward, but Lucas didn’t understand why she was interested in getting involved and stressing herself. Regardless, he still gave her an answer.
"Unfortunately, I can’t approve that; you should speak to the prince directly about it." Abrielle bit her lips, she kind of guessed this was going to be his answer. "I understand." She answered the left.
The perfur was waiting for Abrielle in her chambers; on her way from the wing of the castle where the official study was located, Abrielle ca across another guest.
Although they didn’t directly et, she caught the sight of Lucian and Callista, who seed to have just arrived at the castle. She wasn’t interested in why they were there and just fled as her life depended on it.
