Gore is pretty disturbing for so people.
Especially, if you have never been exposed to such things, it’s practically mortifying to see sothing gore related.
That’s why I can understand why this thug would be scared.
Well, he did everything himself, I was just giving him directions, so it’s not exactly my work.
He just sat in front of those chopped off heads with his eyes wide open, staring into oblivion.
But, unexpectedly , I was not bothered by it at all.
It all felt pretty much natural to .
Maybe due to the fact that I have died multiple tis already, and my body has adapted to such scenes.
"Get up already.", I commanded.
"Y-Yes", he replied, still terrified to look at in the eyes.
"What’s your na, by the way?", I asked, keeping my hand on his shoulder, as if to console him.
"Dulhard", he replied.
"Do you know ?", I asked again, hinting him to walk along the street.
"No.", he said hesitantly.
"Dulhard, huh," I murmured, almost thoughtfully, while watching the people cross the alley in the distance—completely unaware of the pile of corpses that just ceased to exist behind us.
He walked half a step behind , hands trembling, occasionally glancing sideways to check if I was still beside him—as if hoping I’d disappear the next mont and let him off the hook.
"Well, it’s alright if you don’t know ."
I said, keeping my gaze ahead as we walked under the shade of creaking signboards and soot-stained bricks.
"In fact, maybe that’s for the better."
He might be useful to in the future, but I am not sure if I will be able to find him after this night, as he is too scared of .
"Now, I have just one job for you. This will be the last one.", I said looking at his ek eyes.
He stayed silent, while I continued.
"How do I get out of this wall, apart from the main gate?"
***
The night before the class division exam.
It was eerily noiseless, despite there being students still working inside the Student Council room.
It was their first major event since their term started.
Alicia Rowan, the student council president, a second year honours student, sat elegantly on a luxurious chair designed for her, while doing her paperworks.
The vice president, Dustin Croft, was verifying the paperworks signed by Alicia.
The other mbers also were ersed in their own duties.
There was another figure, standing at a corner, making coffee for everyone.
Valerys de Cresent.
The first year horoom teacher, and the student council advisor.
She stood by the cabinet, as her long fingers wrapped around the porcelain mug.
Steam curled softly from the freshly brewed coffee.
Her silver-blonde hair, tied into a loose knot, glinted faintly under the candlelight chandeliers as she stirred without a word.
The entire room, despite its occupants, felt weighed down—like the calm before an impending avalanche.
Then, Valerys, took one of the cups and took a seat beside the student council mbers.
She took a sip from the cup, hot steam enveloping her lips, as she kept the cup on the table.
"Coffee is ready, so if anyone’s feeling sleepy, then go ahead.", she said.
Being the student council advisor, she was in charge of the smooth functioning of the first event of first year students.
That’s why she was there to guide the mbers about what to do and how to arrange everything.
"Alright.", the Vice president, Dustin, stood up and served two cups of coffee for himself and the president.
The others followed through, wiping their sleepy eyes away, and getting charged up for the remaining tasks.
"It might appear hectic to deal with all of this as a student council, but I am sure you all will adapt in no ti.", Valerys said, as if comforting them.
Dustin gave her a tired yet respectful nod, his formal deanour montarily breaking as he sipped the hot liquid. "You make it sound so easy, Professor."
Valerys tilted her head slightly and smiled—a rare thing, like winter sunlight. "Ease has never been part of the academy’s curriculum. You either burn and learn... or get left behind."
A murmur of dry chuckles passed through the room, more from shared exhaustion than genuine amusent.
Alicia, however, didn’t laugh. She set her cup down, eyes focused on a parchnt with the student registry for the class division exam.
"Do we have all the nas confird?" she asked, her voice steady as always.
"Yes," Dustin replied, "except for the one who got suspended—Dorian Valen."
The room shifted slightly in tension at the ntion of the na.
Valerys didn’t react imdiately. She reached into her coat, pulled out a small black notebook, and flipped it open with a finger.
"He shouldn’t be able to enter the exam venue," she said without looking up. "Per the principal’s ruling, all permissions and access have been revoked. Security will be doubled near the periter."
Alicia finally looked up, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "You say that like he might try."
"Well, it’s better to be prepared, rather than panicking on the spot. Also, with two more students missing from the first year, we have to be extra careful."
"Professor, do you think Dorian has to do sothing with those missing students?", the secretary, a brown haired short girl, asked.
"....I am not sure, but with various mishaps happening all around the Kingdom, there is a possibility of him being involved. He was there at the ti of the incident too. However, we should not limit our thoughts based on conjecture.", she said taking another sip of the hot coffee.
"Miss Valerys.", the president, Alicia, spoke up for the first ti in their conversation.
"...What is it?", she replied, her deanor slightly shifting while talking to the president.
"What’s the status of the investigation about the vampire incident of a month ago?", she asked with a composed expression.
"..... That’s the City Guard’s job, no?", Valerys replied curtly.
"Well, I heard that our Academy was also involved in the investigation, so I was curious, if you knew sothing.", Alicia poked Valerys.
There was slight tension between those two.
But Valerys composed herself, before lashing out, and took another sip.
"....The investigation is going smoothly, although I am not a part of it. Several clues have been found out about how a vampire has entered the Capital City. Though, no one can be certain, until, that creature is found out.", she replied.
Alicia leaned back in her seat, her fingers threading together thoughtfully atop the parchnt.
"I see," she murmured, though the flicker in her eyes said more. She didn’t believe Valerys entirely. Not because she had reason not to—but because sothing didn’t add up.
A vampire breaching the capital’s layered mana seals?
Impossible... unless soone from the inside let them in.
Valerys noticed that look, and for a brief second, the corner of her lips lifted in what could be mistaken for a smile—or a challenge.
"The City Guard will handle it," Valerys said lightly, "and if they’re lucky, they’ll do it before that thing makes another move."
"If we’re lucky," Alicia echoed. Her tone was unreadable, but her gaze held the weight of unspoken suspicions. "Let’s hope that luck doesn’t run out during the division exam."
Dustin, sensing the tense undercurrent between the two won, cleared his throat and quickly moved the discussion forward.
"We have taken all the permissions, from respective departnts of faculties. A copy of the report from the City Guard’s has been sent to each departnt too. The dungeon has been cleared prior and dummy monsters have been set at their respective places. Also, we have double checked the man boundary formations, ensuring no mishaps during the exam."
Valerys nodded. "Good. Keep in mind, even if we’re not expecting trouble, we must be ready for it. This year’s batch... is a little more volatile than the last. And you have bigger challenges to face too, so be prepared."
"Understood", everyone replied in chorus.
The stage was set for the class divisin exam for first years.
Student council was on their mission to ensure a smooth sailing exam.
While there were traitors, destined to disrupt their peace, for their own goals.
And there were other creatures plotting with the traitors to overthrow the balance of this world.
And at last, our protagonist, Dorian Valen, ready to cause more chaos to this already chaotic scenario.
Because, chaos is not destruction.
Chaos is a ladder.
The force needed for transition, or change.
Now it was for us to see, if this chaotic force would change the world for the better or for the worse.
Or it will throw everything at war and self destruct.
Or, the result might be sothing entirely different.
Only ti would be able to answer such questions.
...."And with that, I conclude my prologue for this story."
"System No. 444, signing out..."
