The gentle and obedient deanor now is simply another ans to confuse them.

She definitely wants to make them care first.

Once they’ve truly invested emotions, she can then ruthlessly hurt them.

Sadly, Wyatt Yardley is already ensnared.

The trace of undeniable gentleness in his eyes is proof.

No matter how hard he tries to conceal it, his body is alarmingly honest.

Every ti Seraphina Caldwell gets close, his breathing involuntarily slows.

He mustn’t be foolish, cannot repeat the sa mistakes.

Isaac Vaughn suffers the most among them because of Seraphina Caldwell, and hates her deeply.

That night, fire consud her ho, and her family perished in the blaze.

And the culprit was the torch ignited by Seraphina Caldwell herself.

She once saw Seraphina Caldwell standing amidst the flas with a cold smile.

That hatred has long seeped into his bones.

So with her sudden docility, he becos most cautious.

He always thought Seraphina Caldwell was a bit daft.

But now, not only is her mood stable, she’s even started to actively care about others’ daily lives.

This change sets off alarms in his heart.

Thus, he dares not relax even a bit.

Logically, disguises always have flaws.

Even the most skilled actor will slip up at so mont.

But Seraphina Caldwell’s behavior is flawless.

From her words and deeds to her deanor and aura, everything flows naturally.

Everything unfolds so seamlessly.

This makes Isaac Vaughn increasingly uneasy.

Seraphina Caldwell is utterly unaware.

She leans into Wyatt Yardley’s cool embrace, curling up in the crook of his arm.

Her mind is still pondering the advantages of space.

Thinking of that mysterious land where spiritual dicine can be planted, wondering if it can grow healing elixirs.

If she can concoct an elixir to restore ridians, perhaps she can heal the old wound left years ago.

These thoughts churn in her mind, and soon she drifts to sleep.

The next morning, she is awakened by the tempting sll of roasted at.

Opening her eyes, the hay beside her is already empty, Wyatt Yardley nowhere in sight.

Just as she sits up, Kaelan Hawthorne walks in with a golden piece of roasted at, handing it to her.

"Just out of the oven, the temperature is just right."

His voice is low.

"Have so to settle your stomach, once you finish, we need to set off."

Seraphina Caldwell takes the at and bites into it.

The skin is crispy, the inside tender and juicy.

"Did you all eat?"

Kaelan Hawthorne nods.

"We did. Chief Caleb Astor gave us the leftover at from yesterday, enough to last until tomorrow night, no need to hunt tonight."

Seraphina Caldwell’s eyes light up.

The at in her mouth seems even more fragrant.

"That’s great! No delay hitting the road, you don’t have to fuss about finding food in the middle of the night, much more convenient."

She says this with a sparkle in her eyes.

Watching her like this, Kaelan Hawthorne’s heart suddenly shakes.

For a mont, he almost believes.

Believes she’s really changed.

But then he curses himself for not having guts.

It was just a simple concern, right?

How could he be swayed?

Almost fooled by her, forgetting how vicious she used to be!

He once saw her laughing as she slit an old man’s throat.

Just to snatch a Storage Ring.

"Including this al, I’ve made food for you. You ntioned before, five als for a drop of blood..."

"I rember, haven’t forgotten."

Seraphina Caldwell imdiately nods.

She swallows the at in her mouth.

Then raises her left hand, gently slitting her fingertip.

"Once I finish this bite, I’ll give you the blood, absolutely no backing out."

Kaelan Hawthorne frowns slightly.

He initially thought Seraphina Caldwell would act like before.

But this ti, she not only agrees quickly and smoothly.

Her face remains calm as usual, showing no annoyance at all.

Moreover, in her eyes, there’s a hint of relief seemingly appearing.

His heart suddenly stirs.

His thoughts swiftly flash back to past mories.

Those actions he once believed were intentional difficulties from her.

Now they piece together in his mind.

Could he have misunderstood her all along?

From the very beginning, did she never intend to deliberately torture them?

Or plan any new tricks to tornt this group of "Contract Holders"?

The real reason might be quite the opposite.

She truly wants to break the Contract sooner.

To free herself from this invisible shackle as soon as possible.

This thought lingers persistently.

But he can’t quite explain.

Why he feels a bit lost about it.

Of course, Seraphina Caldwell doesn’t know what he’s thinking.

Her mind is already occupied by the matter at hand.

She finishes the remaining roasted at in a few quick bites.

Then, she stands up, walking steadily towards the coarse clay pot in the corner.

She reaches in to scoop a handful of water, first imrsing her palm in the water.

Slowly rubbing her fingertips to carefully wash away the remaining grease and dust.

Next, she removes the silver necklace she’s always worn around her neck.

A small pendant hangs from the chain.

She places the necklace into the water, rinsing it several tis, only stopping when confird clean.

The wound on her finger isn’t actually big.

Just a shallow cut.

But this wound keeps reopening.

If not promptly cleaned, it’s prone to bacteria and can lead to infection.

Though there aren’t any antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs available here.

At least maintaining cleanliness is the only preventive asure she can take.

If only there were alcohol to wipe it down, it would be better.

After washing, she lifts her face, her gaze landing on Kaelan Hawthorne.

"By the way, where’s Isaac Vaughn? The blood-drop ceremony last ti wasn’t finished, so procedure was skipped. Since everyone is here today, let’s complete the remaining portion together."

Kaelan Hawthorne finally snaps out of his thoughts.

He pauses slightly, quietly suppressing the inexplicable emotions stirring inside.

He doesn’t say much, turns and walks toward the door.

Outside, Wyatt Yardley leans quietly against the door.

Gideon Larkin sits on a nearby flat stone, concentrating on filing his nails.

Hearing movent, he imdiately stops.

On the other side, Evan Orwell is tidying up a bunch of herbs.

Upon hearing the news from inside, he slowly gathers the last herb.

A wooden barrel stands in the corner of the yard.

Isaac Vaughn is soaking inside, his lower body still in fish-tail form.

Despite being in the water, his gaze frequently drifts towards the room.

"Seraphina Caldwell wants you all to co in."

Kaelan Hawthorne stands at the door, his voice softer than usual.

But those familiar with him can detect the suppressed fluctuation hasn’t been fully hidden.

Wyatt Yardley’s movent halts slightly, his body straightens from leaning against the door fra.

Then he strides quickly into the room.

Gideon Larkin imdiately follows.

He glances at Seraphina Caldwell, his gaze filled with scrutiny and a barely noticeable tension.

Evan Orwell walks in last.

And Isaac Vaughn rises gradually from the wooden barrel.

His face is expressionless, quietly entering the room.

As everyone enters one after another, Seraphina Caldwell is already seated on the haystack inside.

The dry straw is compressed into a shallow depression by her.

Holding the freshly cleaned necklace.

Though Spiritual Spring Water possesses so healing properties to quickly close wounds.

But it can’t completely eliminate the pain.

Every ti she cuts her finger, it’s accompanied by sharp pain.

Especially when new wounds add on top of unhealed old ones, the piercing pain is hard to ignore.
