He was waiting for her to say a word, waiting for her response, waiting for her to admit that he too had genuinely loved her.

Blood was still trickling from the corner of his mouth, slowly dripping down his chin.

But his eyes did not dodge at all, staring straight ahead.

Those were words pent up for too long, almost rotting in his heart, now finally bursting out of his throat.

Gideon Larkin’s eyes widened, his ice-blue pupils suddenly contracting.

"You like her? Kaelan Hawthorne, are you crazy? Or have you really forgotten everything? How did you used to talk about her? You said with your own lips that she was a burden, that she was too weak to even protect herself, that she didn’t deserve to stand among us! Have you forgotten these words?"

Seraphina Caldwell stood still, her fingers trembling slightly.

She didn’t know what had happened between them in the past.

But she rembered clearly.

That day, she was taking a nap in the forest alone, when she was suddenly pounced on by a wild beast.

When the beast’s sharp teeth and claws were closing in, she used all her strength to cry for help.

And behind the shadows of the trees not far away, she saw Kaelan Hawthorne.

He stood there, obviously just one step away from saving her.

But he didn’t move, watching her struggle, watching her almost lose her life.

Kaelan Hawthorne’s face turned deathly pale in an instant.

He raised his hand, forcefully wiping away the blood that was dripping down his mouth.

Yet even so, his gaze did not shift, still fixated on Seraphina Caldwell.

"In the past... I was wrong. I was wrong, Seraphina. Now, I regret it."

"Seraphina, I admit, I was a jerk before. I was selfish, arrogant, and hurt you too deeply. But this ti, I’m genuinely serious. It’s not impulsive, not out of pity, it’s a heartfelt desire to change, to get closer to you. I want to Bond with you, to formally establish a soulmate Contract."

"I don’t want to watch you endure the tornt of estrus alone anymore, watching you roll on the ground in pain, watching you turn pale and still insist ’I’m fine.’ The damage to your body is too great, it will leave permanent hazards, and might even affect your lifespan."

"As long as you nod, I can start the ceremony anyti. I swear, from now on, I will take care of you thoroughly, not leaving your side. I won’t let you suffer any grievance, I won’t let you face any storms alone. I... really don’t want to miss out again."

Seraphina Caldwell’s chest tightened suddenly, she lowered her head, not daring to look up, not daring to et his eyes.

She was afraid that once she looked up, she would fall into his eyes and lose her calm again.

The burning fla in her body continued to blaze.

Kaelan Hawthorne’s presence made her dizzy, her heartbeat out of control.

She could only stare firmly at the ground beneath her feet.

For a long while, she slightly moved her lips.

"You all should go... I’m really fine. I don’t need anyone... to save ."

Kaelan Hawthorne’s body stiffened abruptly.

His shoulders drooped, and he stood there motionless.

He opened his mouth, his Adam’s apple bobbing, wanting to say sothing more.

But Seraphina Caldwell kept her head down, unwilling to spare him even a glance.

His words were stuck in his throat, unable to co out.

Gideon Larkin stood nearby, his brow furrowed, anger burning in his eyes.

Looking at Kaelan Hawthorne’s appearance, and then at Seraphina Caldwell’s pale profile, the fire in his heart burned more violently.

He wanted to rush forward initially, to scold Kaelan Hawthorne harshly on behalf of Seraphina Caldwell, to make Kaelan give up completely.

But at this mont, his arm was suddenly grabbed; it was Kaelan Hawthorne.

Gideon Larkin was startled, looked down to see Kaelan Hawthorne slowly shaking his head.

Kaelan Hawthorne shook his head at him without speaking, directly pulling him around and walking out.

The two passed through the path outside the house one after the other, their figures quickly fading into the night.

Then, the Beast Skin curtain was gently lifted.

Evan Orwell ca in.

He stood there, looking directly at Seraphina Caldwell, his face expressionless.

"Let help calm the heat."

Seraphina Caldwell quickly glanced up at him, and then lowered her head quickly, her heart inexplicably skipping a few beats faster.

She didn’t know what was going on with her.

Clearly, she used to avoid this person at all costs, yet now the mont he approached, she couldn’t calm her heart.

Evan Orwell was the type of person who beca more appealing the more you looked at him.

His brow bones were distinct, the corners of his eyes were neat and clear, and his aura was lean and upright.

His features were not ostentatious, yet every part was just right.

She squeezed the corners of her clothes, slowly reaching out her hand.

Her gaze inadvertently fell on his hand.

She tried hard to control her actions, not to show her nervousness.

But her gaze was locked firmly on his outstretched hand.

His hands were truly beautiful.

The skin was pale, the joints distinct.

The nails were neatly trimd, and there were thin calluses at the fingertips.

Clearly indicating frequent use of spiritual power and potion preparation.

Evan Orwell lightly took her hand.

Imdiately, a gentle spiritual power seeped in from the palm.

The burning sensation from earlier was instantly suppressed.

Seraphina Caldwell could feel the chaotic breath in her body gradually settling into place, her heartbeat slowing back down.

Seraphina Caldwell’s shoulders relaxed slowly, but her hand remained curled, fixating on their interlocked hands.

"Thank you."

She wasn’t even aware that her fingertips had unconsciously tightened, gently gripping his hand back.

Evan Orwell did not imdiately let go, nor did he withdraw his strength.

He raised his other hand, softly brushing away the stray hair by her ear.

"Do you rember the promise between us?"

Seraphina Caldwell’s head jerked up, colliding directly with his amber eyes.

Those eyes were quiet, unreadable, and inscrutable.

Her heart skipped a beat, feeling that sothing was off.

Logically, the original owner and Evan Orwell should have grown up together.

But rummaging through her mory, she couldn’t recall anything from childhood.

The mories in her mind were fragnted, unable to form a complete picture.

She only vaguely rembered being raised in the tribe.

There were clansn, elders, but no childhood mories of Evan Orwell.

In her mory, there was only the scene of Evan Orwell proposing to Bond.

And later on, when she got tired of it, started snapping coldly at him, deliberately making things difficult.

What childhood promise?

It didn’t exist at all.

At that ti, she only felt that this arranged marriage was a shackle forced on her, naturally having no favorable impression of Evan Orwell.

She had responded to his concerns with indifference ti and again, even deliberately embarrassing him in front of others.

Yet he had always borne it silently, never retorting, never giving up.

She didn’t dare to directly say that there was no such thing, so she blurted out foolishly.

"Did we... have so kind of promise?"

She knew, once she asked this question, it ant exposing the gaps in her mory.

But she had no choice but to ask it brazenly.

Evan Orwell stared into her eyes.

His lips moved slightly, but ultimately he said nothing.

"It’s nothing, forgetting is okay."

After saying that, he slowly released her hand.

Then, he lifted his foot, turning to leave.

"Wait a mont!"

Seraphina Caldwell called out to him.

Before she had ti to react, her body moved faster than her mind, grabbing him from behind, her arms tightly entwining his waist.

Evan Orwell’s body carried a faint dicinal fragrance.

With just this contact, the restlessness and anxiety in her heart miraculously cald down.

Evan Orwell’s body visibly stiffened.
