[Side Stories] Flare’s Incognito Excursion Part 3
“…That’s why I told you.”
Skelly of course stopped Lady Rhea, who was about to enter head-on. But, of course… There was no way she was going to accept such an opinion.
In no ti at all, they were stopped by the soldiers and surrounded by the knights. Seeing the smile on the young lady’s face at that mont, Skelly decided that it would be impossible to stop her, and he tried to settle the situation and discuss the matter, even if he had to take the brunt of it himself.
He did not comprehend how he had gotten into this situation, but he was inadvertently showing his earnestness in a strange way.
It appeared that the commander was going to personally interrogate her and ordered her to follow the knight. Skelly glanced back to see if the young lady was going to do sothing, but contrary to his expectations, the young lady Rhea was obediently following him.
“…(gokuri).”
However, seeing the amused smile on her mouth peeking out from her wide-brimd sunshade hat, Skelly was further tornted by a bad premonition.
“Oh, I don’t know who the lady is, but I’m not impressed with this kind of play.”
Bartolo smiled wickedly at the three people he had brought with him, especially at the young lady, who seed to be the most prominent in terms of position, and whose beauty was evident even when half her face was hidden and her slender figure which was ogled at by Bartolo with an insouciant glance.
“Where are you from? Hiding things from won’t do you any good, okay?”
Bartolo commanded the three n as they sat on their haunches from a covered stage overlooking the training grounds he had built.
In response, a sober-eyed girl stepped forward and began to explain.
“This is Miss Rhea, daughter of the fabric wholesaler Paula. I am her servant, Kaku. The man in the back is our escort, the ‘careless pervert’.”
“Careless Pervert?”
“I am just a careless person, so please excuse .”
“Ummm… That’s a peculiar na.”
Skelly looked down with a sense of sha as not only Bartolo but also all the other knights around him looked at him with contempt and sympathy at once.
Even though he might have been a valuable asset who could have disappeared at the end of the mission, Skelly desperately tried to hold back the urge to shout out.
“Hmm. The Paula Trading Company…”
Even Bartolo, who had not left the remote county for several years, knew about this trading company.
It was a famous fabric wholesaler that was also famous in the Royal Capital, and the wives and daughters of high ranking aristocratic families would wear dresses made by its affiliated stores more than once.
During the recent upheaval, many of the Royal Capital’s wealthy rchant houses suffered losses that could have crippled their businesses, but only a few, including Paula’s, were able to increase their profits and secure a firm foothold.
“I believe you are familiar with what happened to the Royal Capital, aren’t you?”
“Yes.”
A man standing by his side, a forr knight of the Royal Guard, took a knight’s bow and stepped forward.
“I do rember that they had a daughter. I think I may have seen that young lady sowhere… perhaps the daughter of a wealthy rchant, and I may have seen her at an evening party sowhere.”
This forr knight of the Royal Guard was also the sixth son of a count, but he was not in a position to look closely at the face of a duchess.
