Lily’s voice seed to echo inside Thomas’ head. He slowly shifted his gaze at her. Seeing her gave him an innocent smile made him tremble. Never in a million years, would he think that Lily would solve this matter like this.
He thought she would secretly do it with the help of her husband. Maybe ask soone to hurt Ron, scare him into leaving the Lee Family alone. Or threatened to kill him if he will continue his ways.
Who would have thought that Lily would choose sothing like this to remove the man from their lives? This thod will not only remove Ron from the Lee Family. This would also avoid him from suspecting that Thomas already knew about the matter with Chen Shi.
This is a clean thod that would never be traced back to Thomas. He stared at her eyes as he swallowed his non-existent saliva. Thomas is already in his late fifties. However, he would not deny the fact that he had never t anyone just like Lily.
This woman sitting next to him was nothing like every other businessman that he t. The fact that Lily delivered her end of the bargain perfectly was enough proof of her talents and abilities. "I — I..." Thomas stuttered for a few seconds. Honestly, Lily’s thods made him speechless. "Uncle Ron... is that true?" He asked the older man.
Before Ron could open his mouth, Lily’s voice already echoed inside the room. "To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if he had sothing to do with the director’s death, as well." She uttered in a gloomy voice, just enough for everyone to hear.
"You—" Even Ron was speechless. He doesn’t know what to do or how he would react to this unexpected situation. The surprise and horror plastered on Thomas’ face was enough to tell him that the latter does not know about this matter. This imdiately made him conclude that this was all Lily’s doing. "Why?" He asked. Ron felt that his throat started to dry out. Each word that he spoke would require a certain amount of effort just so he could let it out of his system.
It was as if the world narrowed down on him as he eyed the disappointnt in everyone’s eyes. Ron was no longer a child. However... the suffocating feeling from the other shareholders seed to bore down into him. "How dare you involve Isaac in all this?" he managed to ask. "Isaac is my friend! A brother! I would never hurt him!"
Lily did not respond to his question. She languidly leaned back, the smile on her face never disappeared.
"I suggest you leave this place," Thomas uttered. His lips were pursed in a grim line. "Please leave before I do sothing out of my character." He lowered his gaze, his jaws clenched as he balled his hand into a fist. Since Lily already gave him everything, Thomas only needed to do his part and gave them the perfect acting.
Silence followed his words. The matter with Isaac and Ron is the Lee Family’s concern and no one else in the table wanted to involve themselves in this matter. Everyone’s face turned grim as they waited for Ron to utter sothing- a word of defense, a rebuttal, anything that will change Thomas’ mind.
However, Ron did not say anything. He only stared at Lily’s face for a few seconds. He tried to gauge her expression. But it was futile. Lily returned his gaze. Mockery swirled in her orbs as the smirk on her face beca even more evident.
"You will regret this!" He hissed at Lily. "You will regret doing this to !" Without waiting for Lily to respond, Ron walked out of the conference room, his face dark as he got his phone and dialed Chen Shi’s number.
Lily ruined their plans!
After Ron left, the eting continued and in the end, Lily agreed to lower down her demands. The fifteen percent beca ten and eventually eight. Lily had no problems in this matter. After all, her initial offer was only five percent. She would not decline a three percent increase in her initial expectations.
After the eting, Lily went to Thomas’ office in the pretense of talking to him about the managent of the Company. While everyone reluctantly agreed to leave, they were actually happy that they could solve the problem that could possibly destroy this empire.
"You ca prepared," Thomas noted the mont Lily took the seat across him. "I was not expecting that you would choose a... peculiar thod to approach the problem."
"I already gave you the end of the bargain. Now... I want the evidence against Miss Yani Chen." Chen Shi’s legal na in Singapore was Yani Chen. However, when she pursued her career abroad, she changed it into Chen Shi as it was easier to rember.
Thomas stared at Lily for a few seconds before he handed her another flash drive. "The password is the date that Isaac died." He uttered. "I have a question."
"Hmmm?" she accepted the flash drive.
"What if... I was lying? What if... I don’t have the evidence and I was only trying to use you to get rid of Ron? What will you do?"
Lily snorted in response. "I will burn you together with your company." She answered without batting an eyelid.
"You — " Thomas nodded. "I always thought that you are nothing but a normal woman. Soone cunning and smart. Soone who wanted to prove their worth in our world. I am wrong."
Lily stifled a laugh. "Of course you are. I am far from being normal. In fact..." she made a deliberate pause as she leaned towards him. "Being normal scares ."
Thomas nodded and pursed his lips. "I was not expecting that you would easily sign that clause." He changed the topic. Thomas was talking about the clause that would protect them once Lily decided to betray them and expose their deeds into the outside world.
"Mr. Lee... If I want to betray you and your company, I can easily do it with or without that clause." She smiled. "Of course... I am not doing it." She continued. "For now... I am very occupied with other matters." A aningful gleam flashed in her eyes.
