Chapter 943: Project Alpha(3).

“Sir, no demonic activity has been detected on the outskirts of the continent.”

A soldier reported in the control room of the mothership. Harrison, standing at the very top, nodded his head. There were many people in the control room, ranging from generals to tech experts. Not a single awakened, besides Harrison, was present, however.

He observed the onslaught through the holographic screen and smiled in approval. Project Alpha was a remarkable success.

It was something that had been in the works for a few decades. Simply put, it was advancing in the field of manatech to create weapons that could harm awakened beings. It was a project designed to elevate human weaponry to the level of SSS-rank, but it hadn’t quite reached that point.

However, it had advanced just as expected; human weapons of today could not be pared with the human weapons of sixty years ago. Everything had evolved, so much so that there was a difference between heaven and hell among them. The only outlier is the nuclear warhead.

Mana destroying bullets, mana dispersing bullets, mana-enhanced ballistic missiles, and even tanks and jets made of special mana alloy unique to the human race, and that was just the tip of the iceberg.

When ‘technology’ as a whole was concerned, Humanity was equal, or even greater, than the dwarves. Of course, they had achieved so much without mana; however, this was all in the normal realm.

In terms of convenience, humanity was leagues ahead of the Alliance races; however, whenever Mana technology was involved, humanity was far behind. It was expected, considering they had never even interacted with the energy until it suddenly spawned in their world.

However, improvements had been made, and although they were still behind the Dwarves, that gap was much, much smaller. In a few years, provided they survived the war, War-tech was going to be equal to the dwarves.

That was something Harrison was certain of. Although he knew reaching the level of the First Dwarven King was a pipe dream, considering the level of his two masterpieces… Reaching the current dwarves was achievable.

Easily achievable, if he might add. But alas, they had more urgent matters to attend to.

“The Brood hive, formerly known as Chris Huld, is unable to be destroyed by the ballistic missiles… Some damage has occurred, but it has regenerated relatively quickly.”

A soldier reported, staring at a screen on the lower deck. Harrison sighed. The Brood Hive referred to one of Morgana’s masterpieces. He was a former human awakened with a lot of potential, who had been very serious in exterminating the demonic humans.

He had been caught by Morgana and had suffered the horrific skill known as Biokinesis, which had turned his body into… a mountain of flesh responsible for producing demonic beasts. It was unknown if Chris was still… ‘Chris’, underneath that mountain of flesh, but Harrison didn’t have the time, nor the ability to find out.

He pitied the poor boy, who had been caught by the devil himself and turned into an abomination.

“No demonic activity has been detected on the continent, Sir. No signatures of Morgana Cardaveres, Keith the Monster, and The Two Demon Dukes.”

Harrison clicked his tongue, but this, too, was an expected development. Morgana had run with her tail between her legs, taking all of the Obelisk and the Demonic forces with her. Those that were important enough, of course. They should be hiding somewhere on Earth for now…

‘Well, I hoped this would happen.’

Harrison wanted to end Morgana with his own hands. He didn’t want her to die a quick death from a nuclear weapon. If he was being honest, he didn’t know if Biokinesis could save her from a nuclear assault; however, even if it could… the cursed skill would not save her from him.

He’d kill that bitch, no matter what. After what she did to his wife, he would chase her to the depths of the abyss itself to make her suffer.

“Begin Nuclear assault?”

A general, adorned with multiple medals, asked. Harrison looked at the screen in front of him and shook his head.

The fleet had retreated far enough not to be affected by the nuclear explosions, save for the vessels releasing the warheads… But before that happened, Harrison was waiting for someone to reach her destination.

He pressed a button on his screen, urging his little spy to hurry.

——

“Uh… What is it now?”

Sabrina grumbled, riding on her staff through the heart of Terra Damnum. She looked at her municator and sighed, increasing her speed. Thankfully, the explosions and the earthquakes had stopped, which allowed her to reach the portal quickly.

It had been a rough ride… she had been escorted by a vessel discreetly on the continent, and had only a few hours to reach the portal as close as possible. She had traversed a considerable distance, but the attack of the Fleet was felt even by her.

The entire land was shaking, crying… but unfortunately, the worst was still to e. Harrison was already urging her to reach the portal quickly; he could only delay the nuclear warheads for so long…

Sabrina sighed and silently traversed the continent, riding her staff at high speed. Surprisingly enough, she had yet to encounter a single demon. Demonic beasts were around every corner, but she had yet to see any demon or demonic human.

Not that they would spot her, she was covered in at least ten concealment spells, all hailing from the house of death; it was a considerable toll on her, but worth it. The entire continent was empty of intelligent life.

Morgana had taken everyone with her, to god knows where… Thankfully, this was a good oute for Sabrina, as she saw the portal soon enough. The construct was as big as a small hill and was trembling.

‘Tch…’

The portal was shaking, likely from the assault on the coastline and the bombardment by the Jets. It would stop functioning pletely the moment a single nuclear warhead arrived. Sabrina had wanted to study the portal, but alas, she didn’t have time.

The ‘town’ that surrounded it was empty, just like the continent. Sabrina looked at the state of it with a heavy heart and dismounted her staff, staring at the portal with apprehension.

Regrettably, she had not been able to open up to Alan about her expedition into the Abyss; he was still in the dark, and so was her family. It… was difficult to talk to them about it, and Sabrina was certain they would try to stop her.

She decided to talk to Alan after she officially entered the Abyss. The astral bond was not so weak that it would be disturbed by something like that. She had gotten confirmation from Alpha as well, who was hiding in her domain with Beta.

She sighed as she looked back at Earth one last time. Her heart was heavy, but at the same time, determined to find her father and be of some help to the war effort.

With the help of her staff, she cast a simple lightning bolt spell and aimed it at the edges of the portal. She fired it, but the spell was slow, uncharacteristically slow for a lightning spell. It was meant to be this way, disrupting the portal the moment Sabrina would enter.

Another beep resounded from her municator, signaling that the nuclear assault was near. Sabrina sighed and entered the portal the moment her spell collided with the edge.

‘Let’s hope this works!’
