Gathering together with the others happened a few tis a year. It was not as many as it used to be when they were still busy doing mission here and there. But after all, everyone was busy with their own activities and had their own families and life.
How could it be possible for them to always spend ti with the others?
"Ugh, I’m going to vomit…" Marc felt his stomach was churning.
Lucy looked at her husband speechlessly. "That’s why I told you that you’re not allowed to drink too much."
"It’s celebration, so of course I’ll drink more… ugh."
"Let’s go ho fast and you rest. Tomorrow, you still have class, right?"
"Ah, right. Damn it, I forget that."
Marc continued his study in university after the university was built again many years ago. After finally graduated with professor’s degree, he decided to beco a teacher. Aside from the science that was his major, he also taught in a high school as ’beast tar’ teacher.
The term beast tar had only started to be spread from a decade or so ago.
This was because people realized that even though so animals didn’t turn into giant mutated animals, they had also experienced so mutation. The mutation allowed them to be stronger, but to be able to truly grow, they needed to be contracted with humans.
It was a pleasant surprise.
The research of the blood contract had already set up the few basic rules and thods so that their pets will listen to them. Because if they rashly contracted a mutated animal without having any actual emotion connection with them, they could break it and used the contract to feed on humans.
So cases had happened.
It was scary.
Thus, the regulation was put in place and the few people who had already contracted their pets and grew up were offered the position as teachers.
Marc beca one of them.
After all, he and Robby were quite famous and many people hoped that they could listen to his lecture.
He only taught once a month in that high school, but the attendance rate was close to 100% plus many other people who sohow managed to enter to listen.
"Let’s have Robby help you." Lucy shook her head. "Why did I feel that Robby is more reliable than you at tis?"
Marc: "…" I know you love Robby so much, but can you stop comparing with my dog?
"Are there more beast tars recently?"
"Yeah. That’s because you don’t need to be an awakened to be a beast tar." Marc laughed lightly.
The awakened rate was only 1 of 20 people, which ant that there were only 5% of people who could awaken their ability when they reached 18 years old. The rest of them could only beco an ordinary people.
And without red rain helping them to grow so fast, their rate of growth now depended on the food and their environnt.
The awakening rate in City E was larger for so reason.
Which was also one of the main reason why City E beca so densely populated recently. And several other places that said to could increase one’s awakening rate had beco extrely popular. It was just that many of these places were dangerous, so they couldn’t go there unless their parents were powerful.
City E beca their main target.
Aside from that, beast tar had also beco one of the main occupation because of the shared ability. Even though the new blood contract made their shared ability much lower, but it was much safer than the original blood contract that didn’t have much rules and restriction between each other.
Everyone longed to beco powerful.
And since beast tar was one of the few occupations that didn’t need them to be awakened and even if they awakened, they could also beco beast tar, it had beco exceedingly popular.
"Tsk, they can’t even make their blood contract before they’re 18 years old anyway. What’s the hurry?" Lucy shook her head.
To be honest, she was also tempted when she heard that everyone could beco beast tar. But after listening about how she had to care for the new pet and so on, Lucy gave up.
She already had Robby in the house.
It’s enough.
And that 18 years old limitation was because anyone who tried the blood contract before they were of age all ended up crazy or dead without any exception. Thus, the impatient youths had no other choice but to be obedient.
They didn’t want to lose their lives just because they were too impatient.
"There are many new types of animals after the mutation." Marc yawned. "Kate’s father has been busy docunting them along with the other researchers."
"We’re ho. Go wash up and vomit in the toilet if you can’t hold it anymore."
"Ok. Ok."
Marc made a beeline towards the toilet and wash up. He already felt much better after walking around.
Coming out of the room, he noticed Robby was carrying his seven year old son on his back. He patted Robby. "Thank you for taking care Nat when we’re away."
"Wang!"
Marc laughed lightly and then picked his son up. This naughty son of his must have broken his sleeping ti promise again. He walked to his son’s room and put his son on the bed before walking to his own bedroom.
Robby wagged his tail and followed Marc happily. From the way it looked like, he was still very energetic.
The shared lifespan was very true.
It was because Robby was already more than 20 years old by now.
Though, Marc felt sowhat more relieved because he didn’t wish for his dog to die faster than him. This dog had already accompanied him from when he was still a kid. Though, he felt a bit apologetic to Lucy because he would end up dying faster than her.
After all, a person’s lifespan is now being shared with the dog.
"Lucy…" Marc entered the bedroom and saw Lucy was already sleeping. He thought of Lucy’s activities today and shook his head.
There was an ergency mission and Lucy head out first this morning. After all, she was one of the guards and asked for this position so that she could fight a lot. It seed that the mission had to be quite tiring.
He laid on the bed and Robby jumped up.
"Robby, don’t disturb us."
"Whine"
The large golden retriever laid on the edge of the bed while Marc closed his eyes. He never thought too much when he first contracted Robby but now, beast tar had beco so common. Many other people have pets on their own, so pets could be seen roaming around the city.
Marc smiled faintly.
He hoped that these children whom he taught would also treat their pets well. Because they were not only just pets for him but also his close comrade.
…
This is the last epilogue XD.
And yeah, in regards to the sequel I ntioned before, if there are a lot of people who want to read it, I’ll consider making it. You may give comnt or just send likes to other people’s comnt if you do want the sequel.
Tho, I will state in advance that the story will not start from City E nor the main character will be their children. It’ll be from other cities and a new character that’s not ntioned in this novel yet.
Thank you everyone.
A few side stories are left if you’re unwilling to leave and still want to read more. I’ll post them soon.
