——"You are the child bestowed upon by the divine."

That was when Angus had just been appointed by the Emperor, setting off on his journey to guard the northern borderlands.

At that ti, the Delin family was traveling towards the distant north.

They had departed in late autumn, but by the ti they approached the Northern territories, they were deep in the harsh winter.

The North was already unbearably cold, and with the deep winter season, it was simply too frigid for ordinary people to endure.

When Angus first arrived in the North, many of the servants who accompanied him suffered frostbite on their hands and feet due to slight negligence in keeping warm, which was a common occurrence.

Several servants even lost fingers, their blood freezing into crystals as soon as it seeped out.

At that ti, the northern barbarians were rampant, relying on their naturally thick fur to invade the northern borderlands of the empire with impunity.

News of these barbarians' atrocities had spread as far as the capital city a thousand miles away. They massacred residents and burned down towns.

They had committed countless unspeakable acts of cruelty.

During the Delin family's journey to the Northern territories, Angus had already slain many northern barbarians along the way.

At that ti, Angus still held onto his obsessive sense of justice, determined to eradicate these northern barbarians.

After arriving and spending several years there, he established a solid steel fortress in the North.

Leading well-trained knights, he built a towering wall along the empire's northern edge, protecting the imperial residents.

Of course, he also knew.

In the regions further north of the fortress, there were still so imperial residents living in those extre northern lands.

However, he was unable to extend the fortress deeper into the north.

The battle-hardened Angus knew very well.

The extre northern lands had even harsher conditions, and almost all the barbarians road there.

If they were to settle there, under the harassnt of nurous barbarians, even if the steel barriers were reinforced several tis over, they could not remain intact for long.

Once a weak point in the defense appeared and was seized by the barbarians, the fortress could easily be overwheld.

Therefore, he could only try his best to have those residents living further north move into the fortress, seeking shelter proactively.

Although Angus was personally appointed by Emperor Aubrey as the guardian of the Northern territories, he was not the lord of the North.

However, Angus always considered the safety of the northern residents.

So even though he wasn't the lord, he was still deeply beloved by the northern residents.

After all, his obsessive sense of justice had indeed saved many northern residents who were living in dire conditions.

At that ti, Angus's family was also gradually becoming happy and complete.

He had two children, and his wife was also pregnant, about to welco their third child.

However, it was precisely because of Angus's firm commitnt to justice.

There were those who deeply loved him, and those who deeply hated him.

In the cold northern lands, hunting wild beasts alone was clearly insufficient to et the survival needs of the large barbarian tribes.

So, the northern residents also beca hunting targets for the barbarians.

Angus's protection of the North undoubtedly further restricted the barbarians' living space.

Thus, they launched a fierce retaliation.

It was on a cold winter night.

Originally in the Delin mansion, Angus was enjoying dinner with his family by the warm fireplace.

The warm candlelight in the ho reflected the warm smiles on everyone's faces in the Delin family.

But a knight's urgent report broke this harmony, making Angus's previously relaxed face turn grave:

"Sir Angus, we have found a hidden barbarian base in the North."

Angus hadn't had dinner with his family for a very long ti, but the matter was urgent, and it concerned the safety of the entire fortress.

He was very reluctant.

"Go then."

His wife's gentle support ca to Angus's ear.

He gazed lovingly at his wife's gentle eyes that sparkled in the candlelight, gently kissed his pregnant beloved.

After looking at his young son, he put on his armor, and led a large number of knights on horseback, heading towards the location indicated by the intelligence.

Sure enough, there was indeed a hidden barbarian base at the location indicated by the intelligence.

Angus gave the order, leading the knights bravely charging towards the barbarians.

The knights who witnessed that battle all rembered their great knight's heroic figure on the battlefield.

He perford even more bravely in battle than usual.

Blood and flesh flew, cold light flashed.

The snow and wind swept across his armor, but blood flowed down the armor onto the vast snowy ground.

The barbarians' thick and hoarse screams were incessant, blood gushing from their bodies, even dyeing a small patch of the snow plain completely crimson.

Even the corpses were piled into small mountains.

And just as his subordinate had reported, there were indeed many barbarians hidden here.

Angus killed the most barbarians, his silver armor was completely dyed bright red.

Even the fierce snow mastiff head on his chest, baring its silver teeth, looked more terrifying.

When Angus grabbed the last hiding barbarian and held the silver blade to its neck.

Just as his arm exerted force, before the blade could cut, he saw the barbarian's lips move, uttering human speech:

"Sir Knight, you ca as expected."

"And brought so many knights with you."

Angus was extrely curious and puzzled by this.

Because this was the first ti he had heard a barbarian speak human language.

All the barbarians he had encountered before were like wild beasts, with no human intelligence, a group of primitive creatures acting only on instinct.

Therefore, Angus temporarily spared this barbarian's life and spoke in a calm tone:

"It seems you have so last words, speak."

The barbarian sat on the ground, a strange light flashing in its eyes, pulling out a ferocious smile:

"I admire your justice, relying solely on such an ethereal belief, you've persisted in this desolate northern borderland for so many years."

"But, have you ever thought, that one day, you will also pay a price for your justice?"

At this point, Angus hadn't yet reacted. He frowned, grabbed the barbarian's neck, his cold gaze fixed on its face:

"What are you trying to tell ?"

"Cough cough, cough cough cough."

The barbarian was choked by the strong grip, coughing several tis.

Only when Angus ca to his senses did he release it.

The barbarian lay on the ground, coughing, taking several breaths before recovering:

"Let give you so advice, Sir Knight."

"The things you value most, should be placed in the most inconspicuous places."

"You proclaim your justice everywhere, and even your beloved family supports you."

It laughed almost maniacally, its low voice entering Angus's ears like a demonic bell:

"You always say that your enemies can never defeat you."

"But, those precious gems of yours, there will always be a day when you overlook them."

"We thieves are always watching them."

"Hehehehehe... Rember next ti, don't bring so many knights out with you."

Finally, Angus beheaded the barbarian in silence.

When Angus returned to the fortress, he found that many of the few knights guarding the Northern territories had been killed or wounded.

Along with the scattered bodies of barbarians lying on the blood-soaked ground.

And when Angus returned to his own ho, a scene of destruction greeted his eyes.

The door was torn apart, the warm fireplace collapsed, cold perated the entire mansion.

The broken dining table was covered in blood, the dismbered bodies lay quietly on the floor.

His wife, his son.

All died in this barbarian invasion.

Only his eldest daughter Kevla, because she was still in knight training, escaped the disaster.

At that mont, Angus's firmly believed justice reached the edge of collapse.

Indeed, his justice made him deeply beloved by the residents.

He protected the entire Northern territories, killing countless barbarians.

Even in this battle, Angus still achieved a great victory.

He successfully destroyed the barbarians' secret base.

Even in the face of the barbarians' fierce invasion, the losses were limited to so knights.

And, of course, his beloved wife and child.

However, when justice could not even protect his closest family, Angus began to question.

What aning did this justice have?

"To exercise justice, one must sever all emotions."

"But you cannot do it, so the justice you believe in will not respond to you."

As this deep voice sounded, a black shadow began to coil around his son's corpse.

Jaxu Delin twisted his small body to stand up, his eyes flashing with empty and chaotic light.

Angus watched as his son was restored from his fragnted state to his original form.

But he knew well that the creature before him was no longer his son.

"I am a devout follower of the Goddess of Justice."

That's what he said to Angus.

The next mont, the entire mansion was engulfed by a violent ice and snow storm.

The biting snow cut through the sky, gradually burying the ruined dwelling.

Jaxu stretched out his small hands, gently clasping them, and a dancing fla appeared out of nowhere, flickering in the snowstorm.

Under Angus's desperate gaze.

Jaxu walked step by step towards his wife's corpse.

The body that had already been disemboweled, along with the unford child, lay like a dark piece of flesh dead in the corpse's abdon.

Jaxu bent down and placed the fla into Angus's wife's cold abdon.

The fire seed gradually expanded, enveloping the entire body.

The entire body gradually began to burn, turning into burning stars falling in the sky, finally scattering in the snowstorm.

Finally, in that icy snow-covered land, ca the cry of an infant.

Angus was stunned. In the snowstorm, his image was no longer that of a war god, but of a father shocked by the resurrection of life.

He dropped the sword in his hand and ran frantically towards the source of the orange fla.

Angus's eyes were full of shock as he tremblingly extended his hands to pick up the child covered in snow yet burning between the fire seeds.

This newborn girl's body was already covered in ice and snow.

But when Angus held her in his arms, he felt an incredible warmth.

Even through the steel armor, Angus could feel the warmth coming from the infant.

The infant's head was covered with a thin layer of white snow, the silver snowflakes glittering in the dark snowstorm, like the bright dawn on the distant horizon.

Angus's body trembled, his eyes fixed only on this small infant.

Jaxu's childish voice echoed in his ears, leaving a burning imprint in this snowstorm:

"Cherish her, this is the child bestowed upon you by the divine."

"Raise her to be a deity, she will inherit your justice and fulfill your unfulfilled wishes."

"But rember."

Jaxu's empty eyes flashed with dark surges, gradually devouring the surrounding silver light, turning into profound chaos.

"Do not let her have any emotions."

——Because absolute justice requires no emotions.
