Chapter 25: Confusion

"So, Genesis, What are you?" Cassian finally asked the question that’s been bugging him from the start. He was confused about its origin or true form. Was it a marble or a sword, or neither of them?

cough

"I’m the Saint Sword, Genesis–the mightiest weapon under the heaven. The glass form you see is just a temporary form; I adapted it because of the situation. My true form is sothing, you can’t even grasp with your mortal mind." Genesis arrogantly stated. Considering its current status, its words were quite deceitful, but he decided to play along.

"Oh mighty sword, How have I graced upon your presence?" He responded with a humble look over his face. His head was lowered down and he was bowing slightly, acting like a humble servant.

His plan was to extract so information from this old man and he found this approach to be most fruitful. An arrogant person obviously wouldn’t feel threatened by a humble guy and start exerting his dominance by revealing himself.

"Hahaha...you finally get it. I’ve presented myself because I saw potential in you. You were able to conquer my illusion without much trouble, which impressed . Few had ever managed to escape my illusion and conquering them?, I could count that with one hand. Your insight is simply impressive." He patted his shoulders while laughing to himself.

He truly was enjoying the show. Poor guy...

"Ilusion? Dare this humble servant ask what illusion?"

"The illusion targeting your sanity and willpower, [morial Imprisonnt] and [Devouring Curse]. You are quite lucky that my powers are sealed currently, else you’d have died without even realizing it yourself. Back in the day, I would trap anyone who dared approach and play with their mories. Once, I even trapped a....."

The old man continued his yapping, forgetting about Cassian entirely.

’Can’t believe it worked.’ Cassian shook his head with disbelief all over his face. He was just playing along, not expecting him to seriously leak all information about himself.

’Illusion huh. So it was him, who nearly killed just for so entertainnt. Should I really destroy this sword? I’m very tempted now.’ He lifted the sword slightly up, staring at it for a while. His mind was debating the usefulness of the sword vs its harmfulness.

anwhile, Genesis felt a sudden chill run down his spine, causing him to stop his yap montarily. He sharply glared at Cassian, figuring out the antics happening inside his mind.

"Hey, kid, you should consider your choices carefully. I might look like your harmless neighbour, but spirits don’t lie. Rember those words, " he muttered, his words dripping with extre bloodlust. The bloodlust vanished instantly, but Cassian still managed to sense it.

He felt like sinking into the abyss surrounded by nothing but blood, crimson red blood everywhere.

blergh

He shivered uncontrollably and vomited a large portion of his just consud food. His breathing was shallow and rapid, cold sweat staining his back.

"I-I’m s-sorry." He hurriedly apologized, making sure to lower his head.

"Stop acting, kid. I can see through your deception."

His body froze upon hearing those words. He panicked, hurriedly trying to give so random excuse.

"I was just playing along with you. It’s been a while since I last had a conversation with soone. Back in my pri, Nobody dared to even cross roads before , much less insult . I would have decapitated you the mont you insulted ." He joked, patting his shoulders lightly.

"Anyway, I’ve good news and bad news for you. Which one would you like to hear first?"

"Uhhh...I don’t think there is anything worse than you trying to kill until a mont ago." He thought,

"Believe , there is." Genesis halted his words mid-sentence, causing him to gasp in response. He was at a loss for words.

"Umm...Sir, can you please stop reading my mind?" He politely asked, learning his lesson.

"You better not have bad thoughts again." He responded, nodding his head.

"Now, Where was I? Ah right, what’s your answer?"

"Bad news first." He quickly replied.

"Good choice. The bad news is, the power that sealed is a curse, called the ▇▇▇▇. Congratulations, you are officially cursed now." He grinned, his smile etched with evil intent.

"What do you an cursed? How did I get cursed?" He felt confused, hearing his words.

Why can’t I hear the na of the curse, and how did I get his curse?

"Wait—!" He imdiately had a eureka mont.

"Don’t tell , is it because I beca the new owner of you?"

"Inheritor."

"Huh?"

"You’re currently an inheritor. You don’t really think you can beco the owner of a divine weapon simply by passing so low-level test, right?" His voice was full of mockery, as if mocking his stupidity.

"Hah...Fine. I can’t hear the curse’s na. Would you be kind enough to elaborate on its function?" He sighed, feeling a wall of despair and sadness surrounding him.

’Wasn’t I supposed to be a chosen one? Why am I facing one bad luck after another?’ He cursed the god a few tis and cald down, taking deep breaths to ease the headache, burning up in his mind.

’It seems the restriction is quite severe.’ Genesis thought, gazing at the sky with hatred-filled eyes. ’Just you wait.’

He focused back on Cassian and began explaining, " The curse is ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇!"

"I can’t hear you."

Genesis stopped speaking and stared at him, with a ’are you serious?’ look written all over his face.

sigh

"I guess you are on your own for now. Ignorance is bliss, so, just enjoy it for now." He replied, his voice dripping with annoyance. He knew the restriction was tight, but this was too much. Just how far has he fallen, to be restricted by so re curse.

He thought for a while, before realizing sothing significant within Cassian.

"What’s your true rank?"

"I’m just a Star-rank individual." He replied, "Why?"

"WHAT?!" Genesis roared, his face etched with utter disbelief. His mouth was wide open, and he rubbed his eyes, checking whether he was dreaming or not.

"Why are you just a Star–No, How did you even survive the absorption despite being the lowest rank?" He asked.

"Oh...I just supplied my mana through this." He took out a mana recovering potion and showed it to him. The erald green potion shimred silently in the darkness, pulsating with waves of mana inside it.

"Amazing! Who created it? To think soone had the idea of creating a liquid mana through simple mana herbs, pure genius." His eyes twinkled with amazent as he stared at the bottle.

"And about the blood, I don’t really know much. I just sohow miraculously survived right on the brink of death." He continued, unsure about the real reason. He had a guess that it was related to his system. ’Where is the system when I need it?’ He complained, releasing a few curses at it.

"Hmm...You’re quite lucky. If I hadn’t been cursed, I would’ve sucked you dry, leaving nothing but bones behind." His evil smile was at it again, scaring Cassian.

"Anyway, what are you even doing here at Star-rank? Are you lost? But that can’t be, this dungeon is sealed. Did soone unseal it? That’s not it either cause I would have sensed it." He was lost in his own world, trying to think of anything that could justify his current situation.

"I just got lost and arrived here." He lied, scratching his head nervously. He had no valid answer for this question. He can’t just expose the system to him, that was his trump card. ’Wait–! If he’s able to hear my thoughts, then what about the system?’

"Hey Genesis, Do you know anything about Star System?"

"What’s that? So kind of bird?" He responded, raising his eyebrow.

"Nothing," Cassian replied, sighing in relief. It seems he can’t sense the system.

"Hmm? It seems my ti is up. Hey, Kid, next ti I wake, you better be at least Divine-rank. Otherwise, I might just devour you, hahaha..." Genesis’s voice slowly faded away with his laughter.

"Where are you going?"

"The curse!" That’s the last thing Cassian heard from him.

He continued calling Genesis a few tis but no reply ca.

[Ding! The Ergency Protocol lifted...]

"System?"
