Chapter 52: To Dig The Truth I

The ride back to the palace didn’t feel pleasing at all. The air surrounding Ayfara intimidated the coachman who was sitting beside her. His eyes wavered each ti she clicked her tongue with a, "tch" sound. Ayfara didn’t like the conversation earlier. She wished that old lady didn’t say anything. Though not everything is revealed yet, her guts were telling her sothing unpleasing is about to happen.

"Hey, can’t you go any faster?" Ayfara asked the coachman, who slowly turned his head, looking at her. He spoke in fear, "W-we c-can’t. I-it’s v-violat-ting t-the l-law." Ayfara sighed and slouches on the back of her seat. As much she hated the law, she can’t break it.

While inside the carriage, Elia continued to ponder on the words Maria told her. After eting Maria for the second ti, she had a bad feeling about her. The way she smiled at her earlier disgusted Elia. She almost forgot those kinds of smiles existed in the world. It’s just been a while since she has last seen a disgusting smile.

Even if Maria used to be a close person to her mother, how can she trust her? Elia doesn’t believe unless she sees and hears the truth from the person themselves. Not to ntion Ayfara knew sothing that ans Elliot knows more about it. Just having these thoughts gave Elia a headache. The puzzle pieces are not fitting in.

"Mother never ntioned about a friend close to her," Elia muttered to herself, not to rember the letter her mother gave her was incomplete. It’s a huge mystery. Who knows where that last page of paper is? It might be burnt before she received the actual letter or the letter itself is just incomplete.

"Though I do not believe the letter ends there," She muttered once more leaning her head onto the glass pane, "There must be more to that."

The only person who could answer her confused mind was Elliot. He knows too much about her own family that she doesn’t even know of. The fact Maria told her earlier that she is not a true princess made her heart skip a beat. But at the sa ti, her chest felt tight.

The fact she might not be that man’s daughter ans the blood flowing in her is not dirty and corrupted. But if she’s not his daughter, then who is she?

The coachman got out of his seat and opened the door for Elia to go out. But then Elia thought the carriage was still moving. The coachman took a step back as Ayfara approaches Elia by the door, saying, "Princess, we’ve arrived." Elia heard the call of Ayfara and got out of the carriage as fast as she could.

"Are you headed back to your room?" Ayfara placed her hand, bending her back, standing tall acting like a proper guard. Elia wondered why she was acting this way all of a sudden but for Ayfara, this her way of punishing herself after acting abruptly earlier. Elia took a pause thinking where she was headed, then answered, "His Imperial Majesty’s office."

Ayfara lowered her head taking note of her action than said, "I will be resting early and so Enoch would be in charge of my night shift." Elia nodded her head then made her way to Elliot’s office. On the way to his office, Elia t with Vanessa midway. Vanessa asked tons of question, which all were ignored by Elia. She didn’t have the energy to go along with Vanessa and wanted to take a rest, but she had to do sothing else.

"Vanessa, please stop asking. I’m a bit tired from the journey," Vanessa imdiately puts her hands in front of her, nodded her head, and bit the corner of her lip. She forgot Elia had a long day, not to ntion Elia didn’t look energetic at all. Vanessa lowered her head and stayed quiet.

Upon arriving, Vanessa stayed out of his office since she is not allowed to enter, and only special people like Elia were allowed to enter his office.

Elia knocked on the door, waiting for a go signal to get into his office. However, Air was the one who opened the door. As he sees Elia by the door, he imdiately let her in.

"Please enter," Air said as he opened the door for her. Elia stepped into the office, seeing him resting his face on his hand. When he saw her, Elliot stood away from his seat, feeling all the energy back to his body, "What brings you here, Princess?"

"Let

ask you straight. Who is Louis Whelan?"
