Chapter 90: Chapter 17: Beamon (2)_2
“Whether it’s slting technology or talworking techniques, even the processing level of timber, none of these are at a stage we can replicate. To produce such a finished product, I personally think it’s unlikely for our generation to achieve. If we just want to familiarize ourselves with the techniques, that might be sowhat easier,”
With a look of admiration still in his eyes for the Fox Tribe Queen, the Middle-aged man then turned his gaze to the slim man sitting at the very edge, who had his eyes half-closed as if still asleep, “Schnecke, how are things on your end? Any clues? Where exactly were those battering rams smuggled from?”
Shami did not expect to uncover the origins of this mysterious force. Daring to make such a bold move, the opponent would naturally be well-prepared. He only hoped to understand more about the actual details of the other party by relying on his own power, after all, collaborating with a force completely unknown to them always felt unsettling.
As the ruler of the Snake Tribe, the Schnecke family had always been the rightful heirs to the throne of the Snake Tribe. Being somber and detached seed to be the nature of the Snake Tribe, which was even more evident in the mbers of the Schnecke family, who belonged to the ruling class, causing them to be out of sync with the other five tribes of the Beastman Alliance.
Since the Snake Tribe’s population was far smaller than the other five tribes, no one from the Snake Tribe had ascended to the leadership of the Alliance for hundreds of years. However, this didn’t an that the power of the Snake Tribe could be taken lightly; they had always been an indispensable part of the military strength of the Beastman Alliance, as the most secretive among the six tribes.
Born with the ability to move stealthily and a natural instinct for shape-shifting, coupled with their exceptional sensory abilities, they had beco a core force of the natural intelligence system in the Beastman Kingdom. Whether it was infiltrating territories of other races like Mortals, Dwarves, and Elves to gather intelligence, or counter-espionage against foreigners entering Beastman lands, they proved themselves worthy of the title “Eyes of the Beastn” with their excellent performance and dedication to their work.
“I’m sorry, Shami, we’ve done our best. But these people are elusive; our trail stops at Tunu Fort, where the Ullr and Dun rivers et. That’s where the information ends. The battering rams must have been transported there in pieces, then assembled on site, before being moved into our territory. As to where these parts ca from, Tunu Fort is a transportation hub, especially busy with river traffic. And these individuals are extrely cautious, probably splitting the shipnts into many small batches, making it impossible to trace. However, we have fortified our surveillance in Tunu Fort, so if they try to send a second batch, I think we should be able to pick up so clues,”
Said Dashler Schnecke, the tall, thin man who was even leaner than Wolf Tribe Leader Carter, with his eyes always half-open, which supposedly helped him keep his eyes in a state of constant readiness to adapt to the external environnt.
Heaving a sigh, the Middle-aged man with whiskered face probably also understood that it wouldn’t be easy to learn the details of the opponent; anyone bold enough to engage with them must have made all sorts of preparations beforehand. Although the Snake Tribe was renowned for its reconnaissance capabilities, the Mortals’ counterintelligence thods were sophisticated and varied, leaving the Beastn far behind. Expecting to figure out everything about the other party after just one or two encounters was utterly unrealistic.
“What’s been happening with the Mortals down south during this ti?” The booming voice of the big-eared, robust man resonated like a large bell. As the ruler of the kingdom, he had to think more comprehensively.
“There hasn’t been much change. We’ve completely destroyed the most important stronghold of the Mortals in the North, the capital of Myron Duchy, Mycenae, and it will take so ti for the Mortals to rebuild a city like Mycenae, especially since we haven’t withdrawn our troops. Even if they have such plans, they aren’t able to carry them out now. I think they are probably waiting for Winter to co and for us to withdraw before they make any moves,”
As the Chief of the Snake Tribe, Dashler, apart from controlling the intelligence system, also bore the responsibility for the Beastman Kingdom’s assassination organization. The Snake and Fox Clans had always lurked in the shadowy side of the Beastman Kingdom, but the roles they played were no less significant than the other tribes.
“Moda, Mouni, do you two have any thoughts?” Finally, the Tiger Clan man turned his gaze to the two muscular n sitting quietly on the side.
Next to the Tiger Clan man was a middle-aged man, stronger than Shami and pale-skinned, but there was always a languid air about him as he lay back in the large chair, motionless, seemingly enjoying the atmosphere of the room. His lips were thick, and his few beard stubbles seed not cleanly shaven, but he had remained silent throughout the conversation.
He was the steadfast ally and chief of the Bear Tribe, Moda Bill.
Having grown up with Shami Taegor since childhood, Moda Bill had always been Shami’s best friend. Although they belonged to different tribes, this did not affect their friendship. As they grew older, they each took over as leaders of their respective tribes. When Shami Taegor revealed his intentions to compete for the leadership of the Beastman Alliance, Moda imdiately gave his firm support. Coupled with the full backing of Mouni Ocos from the Cow Tribe, Shami Taegor effortlessly defeated his rival, Carter Wolfe of the Wolf Clan, and took over the throne of the Beastman Alliance eight years ago.
As for the other man, as strong as Moda, with bulging eyes and a protruding mouth, he seed sowhat dull, his huge nostrils always seemingly finding the air insufficient and continuously flaring. Despite a slightly hunched back, never underestimate this seemingly foolish middle-aged man; he was the leader of the most populous tribe within the Beastman Alliance, the Cow Tribe’s Ocos.
He too was a childhood playmate of Shami and Moda, though his fate seed much more tortuous.
The Cow Tribe’s throne was initially determined to be succeeded by his elder brother, but the elder brother died of wounds sustained in a battle with mortals, leaving the brothers to compete for the position.
In the traditional Cow Tribe tug-of-war competition, Mouni won the throne by virtue of his indomitable stamina, defeating his several brothers. Later, in the competition for the throne of the Beastman Kingdom, he naturally sided with his friend, defeating Carter, backed by the Fox clan, and played a decisive role in the election of Shami as the ruler of the Beastman Kingdom.
“Shami, Mouni and I have no objections. Since you are our Beamon Kingdom’s Khan, naturally, you decide. However, winter is approaching, and my children all hope to return ho earlier. It seems the weather is cooling down sooner this year, so we need to prepare early. Since we have already reaped quite a bit, let’s be content with what we have. Mortals are unreliable fellows; they have their intentions and even sches in providing us weapons. Everything we do must first consider the interests of our Beamon Kingdom, with no need to care too much about the rest. Of course, now that Mycenae city has been destroyed, we cannot allow the mortals to rebuild another city to block our passage southward, so even though winter is coming, we still need so arrangents to prevent those mortals from using this winter to rebuild the city.”
The pale, strong man lazily smiled, casually picked up an apple from the plate, gently squeezed it, and the apple imdiately turned into apple mash, with the juice sliding down his fingers into his mouth, contentedly licking his lips: “Hmm, I still think the apple juice from our Mogan Plateau is sweeter, there’s always a different taste to things from mortal territories.”
Seeing that the opinions of the various tribes were largely unified, Shami smacked his lips contently and turned his gaze to the long-haired elder who had been silent behind him: “High Priest, do you have any objections?”
“Shami, don’t trust mortals too much, but don’t doubt everything. You just need to do as you see fit. The Beamon Kingdom’s interests co above all else. As long as you firmly grasp this, I believe the Gods will be on our side,” the faint voice seed to co from the depths of hell, his long hair covering his entire face, his low and weak voice extraordinarily clear to the ears of those present.
“I will heed, with caution, the teachings of the High Priest,” Shami and the other chiefs, already standing, bowed respectfully and watched as the hooded, one-eyed elder slowly rose and suddenly vanished like a wisp of black smoke within the tent.
