Chapter 250: Chapter 11: Submitting (Part 1)_3
For his master’s attitude, Maha Gummi had always been sowhat puzzled. The reversal of the situation in the Leon Region, which ultimately enabled this mob to succeed, could be entirely attributed to their own efforts. If it wasn’t for their side’s targeted training and forceful counterattack before the battle of Mandu, Woodhardt’s n would have probably fled to the Volt Mountain Range to beco bandits long ago. It was this battle that completely crushed the main force and morale of the Hor Army, and also sparked the confidence of this mob, leading to the current state of affairs in Leon. Now, Leon has practically beco an independent kingdom. In Maha Gummi’s eyes, these people should be bowing before his own master’s feet. His master should be the true sovereign of this land. Of course, this was just Maha Gummi’s personal thought; he was also aware that the ownership of these lands in the world of mortals involved quite complicated origins and legal procedures. It’s not as simple as whoever occupies the land owns it.
“Maha Gummi, so matters need to be looked at in the long term. Do you really think this mob can maintain stability for long?” Kor had been nurturing this Half-Beastman Hybrid with a quite useful head as one of his trusted confidants. Although this fellow lacked so political experience, his keen political sense and talent for intelligence were enough to undertake the tasks assigned by Kor. Moreover, until now, he had done a very good job. What Kor needed to do now was to make this fellow adapt to his role as much as possible, breaking free from the psychological fixations typical of Half-Beastn.
“Sir’s aning is that Leon will eventually be taken back by Hor?” Surprised, Maha Gummi raised inquiring eyes. “But hasn’t Sir said that for the ti being, Hor lacks the power to intervene in Leon? Even the Grand Floating Bridge over the Nissai River outside the Bruce Fortress has been destroyed. Rebuilding that bridge is not sothing that can be accomplished quickly.”
“I didn’t say Hor would recapture Leon; I only said that given the current circumstances, it is unlikely that the situation in Leon will last for long,” Kor replied lazily, leaning back in his chair. His thoughts had turned to Ugru, and he wondered how the subject still staying in the secret chamber was faring, whether the hibernation state would cause harm to her body. Kor wasn’t too sure since this was the first ti he had conducted such an experint, but he felt it was worth the risk.
“What reasons does Sir an that will cause Leon to be unable to maintain itself?” Maha Gummi was already vaguely guessing sothing, but weren’t they constantly sending those things over there? Could it be that his master would suddenly change his approach?
“Food, of course, food. With no food, how long can the land of Leon sustain hundreds of thousands of people relying solely on their local produce?” Kor spoke indifferently, with a casual tone. “Orders from Cyprus will soon arrive at the Lord’s Mansion of Ugru. Hor will definitely demand we cut off connections with Leon. Leon’s current food supply is almost entirely dependent on inputs from us. Their local stock is already scant. Not to ntion cutting off contact; even if we continue supplying food at the current rate without increasing the quantity, Leon won’t last long. These fools really think they can cause any significant disruption? It won’t be long before they start infighting over food issues.”
“So, does Sir an that we will only step in to clean up the ss when the ti cos?” Maha Gummi seed to be grasping his master’s idea.
“No, taking precautions is necessary; that’s why I ca to et the other party today. If Leon wants to survive, it must quickly restore normal social order. No land can survive on warfare. Warfare can transfer ownership of wealth, but it doesn’t generate wealth. When even the basic livelihood cannot be sustained, the chaos in Leon will affect us in Caucasus. Therefore, we must be capable of controlling the situation,” Kor said, his vague remarks leaving the Half-Beastman trying to grasp the concealed aning in his master’s words, his eyes rolling as he thought hard.
