Chapter 196: Chapter 2 – The Trio’s Journey_3

“Renta, haven’t you heard? I’ve heard that His Excellency Baron Kor is quite an eccentric and reclusive character, with a strong rebellious streak that does not sh with his own father. I’ve also heard he had a falling out with Viscount Ramla over the enfeoffnt of the Caucasus. Could it be for this reason he’s unwilling to acknowledge his mbership in the Reese family and has instead created a new crest for himself?” The young man’s information was clearly well-sourced, and his mind quite agile, quickly speculating a likely scenario from the intelligence he had gathered.

“Is that so? But when I t him last ti, I didn’t notice anything particularly distinct about him.” She gave a cold laugh, and a hint of sarcasm flickered through her green eyes, “However, it seems Tracy and he get along quite well; they seed very familiar.”

“Hmm, that’s also quite normal. A daughter of a Duke, a son of a Finance Officer, around the sa age, there’s nothing odd about that.” The young man shrugged his shoulders, looking nonchalant.

Glancing at the door, the girl lowered her voice and said, “Hoffman, when do you plan on making things clear with Tracy? Will you drag it out for a period of ti more?”

“The decision is not in my hands, as you know. It depends on father and the others.” Displaying a hint of annoyance with this pretense, a flicker of displeasure crossed the young man’s face and his voice dropped, “Now Leon is in chaos, and Philip, that old man, seems quite flustered too. Father and the others are probably plotting sothing, as they haven’t made any decisive statents about this matter. However, Duke Tez and Duke Mathew both oppose it, and you know well enough how much influence they have over father, Renta.”

“Hmph, you should never have gotten engaged to her in the first place. I don’t know what you saw in her. Nothing but a little vixen, obviously one with a flirty nature, no different from Katya.” Casting a distainful glance at her half-brother, her words grew more scornful.

“Her romantic escapades with Baron Kor are common knowledge in Cyprus. His Excellency was probably exiled from his ho by force by Philip because of her, yet she poses as a lady before us. But can a paper hide a fire?”

Seemingly uninterested in the topic, the handso youth quickly changed the subject, “Sigh, so things are hard to clarify at the mont. Tracy knows her own secrets. Since she chose to deceive

first, she can’t bla

for breaking the engagent later. We’re even. Now, we wait for father’s final decree.”

“Didn’t you know about her unseemly scandals beforehand? What a joke. I think you fancied her and wanted to take the opportunity for a fling, without considering whether Philip would be content with swallowing such a loss silently! I think you’d better give so serious thought to your strategy!”

The girl showed no kindness towards her brother, sharply retorting and leaving the young man at a loss for words, not knowing how to respond.

The dock finally started to buzz with activity. The rchants and workers, busy as always, turned their gazes toward them. A group of fully armored soldiers thundered into the dock area, quickly deploying into formation. Both the young man and the girl’s eyes landed on this troop of soldiers.

The soldiers, considerably taller than Mortal Soldiers, shone in the Sunshine with their hefty Tower Shields, broad thick-backed long swords, and black iron spears which stretched two to three ters long. They could even clearly see the fierce expressions and solemnity on the soldiers’ faces as the dust kicked up by their running blanketed the air.

A knight spurred his horse from behind the soldiers, coming to their aid. With an elegant dismount, he already stood on the edge of the dock, conversing with the negotiating personnel who had disembarked from the ship.

Quiet footsteps echoed out from the deck outside the cabin. The two turned their heads and saw a companion, languidly standing at the cabin door, “What’s the matter? Has that kid Kor sent soone to pick us up?”

The exposed neck and chest were as pale and delicate as ancient eastern porcelain, the soft and tender skin seemingly sparking anew in the young man’s mind. He could hardly count how many tis he had ridden this woman, indulging his desires to toy with her, yet Hoffman still felt no sense of weariness to this day.

Indeed, this woman was quite the delight. Although he had not yet enjoyed her fullest favors, Hoffman was still reluctant to give up such a bedfellow, the sensations she gave him in bed were simply too wonderful.

Although marrying her might pose so difficulties, she undoubtedly made an excellent choice for a lover.

But as Renta said, sotis getting involved made it hard to disentangle oneself, and now might be the ti to start thinking about how to extricate oneself.

The girl harbored an indescribable disdain for the woman standing before her siblings, but she also had to admit that the woman’s current allure did indeed hold considerable power over n. No wonder the Baron and her brother both fell under her charm. A touch of acidity brushed subtly through her heart.

Despite feeling disdainful towards such a woman, she couldn’t hide the irritation in her bones. In terms of talent, appearance, and status, she was far superior to this woman. So why was it that, whenever they were together, all the n’s gazes gravitated around this woman?

If not for their special relationship, the girl might have felt an impulse to confront her about the reason for this.
