Chapter 184: Chapter 11: The Fisherman

Seeing Puber’s drooling face and the longing look in his eyes, Kor knew no good could co of this.

Of course, he wouldn’t just watch his old friend actually succumb to the charms of those physically exceptional Half-Elf won. Ugru’s brothels were now teeming with Half-Elf and Half-Beastman prostitutes, reportedly from the central inner land. Bruce Fortress’s attitude toward the intake of slaves and immigrants was radically different from that of essentials like food and salt, without any restrictions. To Kor, it seed as though the Hor region was even encouraging the influx of immigrants and slaves into the Caucasus, and the intention behind it was not hard to guess.

“Co on, stop obsessing over this all the ti. Even if you drank the Treasure Health Elixir every day, you wouldn’t keep up with that kind of activity. Your body is your capital; you should take good care of it first and foremost. When the batch of elixir is ready, I’ll give it to you myself. I’m still short on so herbs, but I’ve already asked the Mountain people to gather them.”

In his spare ti from practicing magic, Kor took up the hobby of concocting various pills and potions. This wasn’t a particularly unusual hobby; every Mage can brew so recovery or spiritual power enhancent drugs to so degree. However, few could match Kor’s professional level.

Kor always adhered to the principle of never fighting unprepared, especially when his strength was not dominant, or the situation of friend and foe was unclear. Overestimating the enemy’s strength and thereby being more thoroughly prepared could only benefit him.

Magic Scrolls, magic tools, various dicines to restore and supplent magic and physical strength were all indispensable before a battle, and during normal tis, taking pills and potions that strengthen the body and concentrate the mind was greatly beneficial to advancing one’s magic cultivation as well.

Many Mages were also Potion masters, and so magic practitioners who struggled to stand out in the magic community chose to specialize in pill and potion refining instead, becoming indispensable figures in the world of magic.

Especially before each war, these magic trading companies beca the most frequented spots by wealthy classes like Mages and knights, leaving behind enough Gold Shields to sowhat console those who had strayed from the pure world of magic.

“Boss, you’ve got to keep your promise, those Half-Elf won are absolutely intoxicating. You should try them out soday, I guarantee they’ll make you reluctant to leave. The won we used to have fun with can’t hold a candle to these Half-Elf won; they’re not even close.” Puber’s spirit visibly lifted when he spoke of won, his gaunt cheeks glowing with an excitent that seed even stronger than if he had taken the Treasure Health Elixir, causing Kor to inwardly sigh at the thought that perhaps for Puber, this was the only hobby.

“All right, you didn’t co just to recount your promiscuous history to , did you? I’ve heard all about your ‘Whirlwind in Bed’ reputation these past few days.” Kor cut him off, knowing full well that if he let Puber get started, half an hour wouldn’t be enough to end the conversation, wasting his own resting ti.

“Heh, of course, not. But Boss, ‘A man who doesn’t embrace life is wasting his youth’—wasn’t that always one of your favorite maxims? Wholeheartedly enjoying life is also a way of being responsible to oneself, isn’t it? If we just live a ek life, what’s the point of passing through this world? Boss, enjoy life to the fullest.” Puber advised with a seriousness that bordered on comical.

Waving his hand to stop the grand speech, Kor shot back: “Quality over quantity, that’s my pursuit. Leave those tasteless, filler items to yourself.”

“Ha, that’s the spirit, Boss. Not so lonely in my philosophy, eh?” Finally hearing a heartfelt response from Kor, Puber laughed triumphantly. “I really thought you’d changed your ways, Boss. Seems like I’m not the only one who needs that Treasure Health Elixir.”

“Has anything new happened outside these past few days?” The conversation finally got back on track, and Kor knew that Puber wouldn’t co to him without good reason; there must be sothing that required his decision.

“Well, it’s not a big deal, but the situation is sowhat out of control right now, and I’m not sure whether this is an opportunity or a disaster, so we need to carefully consider it.” Puber regained his usual composure, “The situation in the north in the Leon region has continued to be turbulent. Last month, there were two large-scale slave uprisings in Leon, with over three thousand slaves escaping. This month, there have been three more uprisings, involving more than eight thousand people—the largest in history. The entire Leon region has fallen into chaos, and it looks like this will continue. Bruce Fortress has completely shut down, and all caravans are unable to pass through the Leon region into our Caucasus now.”

“Does this affect us? Mattdam has already opened its port, and though our local fleet is not yet capable of long voyages, it seems that ships from Odessa and the other colonies across the sea have already arrived. Besides, we’ve built up a considerable food reserve, so there shouldn’t be too much trouble, right?”

Kor was sowhat surprised, though it was not entirely unexpected.

The chaotic law and order in Leon were notorious within the Kingdom of Nicosia and even The whole continent. Its imnsely rich mineral deposits necessitated a large population of robust labor forces. Half-Beastman slaves had beco the most popular commodity in the land, especially since Count Boninski had subcontracted many mines to nurous Middle and Small Aristocracy. To extract high profits, these nobles bought slaves en masse, particularly those half-beastman slaves with excellent physical quality.
