Chapter 150: Chapter 9: Shadows_2
Kor quietly sat in the secret chamber, which he had instructed his servants to refurbish from his forr retreat space for the convenience of ditation. In this private space, Kor could ponder his personal issues without worrying about disturbances from others. Whether ditating or considering other matters, he had grown accustod to resting here after als, finding that doing so greatly benefited his cultivation of spiritual power.
Since the fight with the Ogre, Kor felt as though his magic power had entered another dormant phase. He’d always gained unexpected benefits after an adventure, followed by a low period, a cycle he’d grown accustod to. During such tis, Kor would ditate to train his spiritual control and delve into the repository of magical knowledge left to him by Kennifer III to find the magic most suited to him.
After prolonged searching and experintation, Kor had begun to find his path. Dark Magic, compatible with his intrinsic training in magic power, was his natural first choice. Among Elental Magic, he gravitated toward Fire Magic and Thunder Magic. Of course, magic deed heterodoxy, such as Puppet Magic and Summoning, due to his rapid advancent in cultivating spiritual power, gradually led Kor deeper into exploration.
Kennifer III truly was a peerless genius. In his vast repository of mories, he not only dabbled in but mastered nearly every type of magic. Kor couldn’t imagine how one could reach such a level in a lifeti; even geniuses would seemingly find it difficult, given the finite nature of human energy and the principle of specialization. After all, mastering many clearly contradictory magic skills in a single person was impossible, yet Kennifer III had done so, and he had even told Kor in nightmares that he could do the sa.
At this thought, Kor shook his head with a wry smile. Magic power conversion sounded easy, but the difficulty of crossing that threshold was unknowable. Many mages who fancied themselves magical elites and geniuses had fallen at this hurdle. To freely change the attributes of magic power, especially incompatible ones, Kor never believed he had such a talent.
Like now, casting one or two simple spells of White Magic or Light Magic might pose no issue, yet he was incapable of performing large-scale or advanced spells of these types. If he were to forcibly attempt the supposedly magical power conversion according to the thod left in mory by Kennifer III, Kor regarded that as courting death. He didn’t want to take such an unwarranted risk; it was better to focus on cultivating his Dark Magic.
“Sir, the gentlen are already waiting for you in the conference room,” the gruff voice of the Half-Beastman Guard sounded from outside the door. Although these Half-Beastn appeared fierce and uncouth to mortals, Kor, who was used to seeing intrigue and betrayal, appreciated these simple-minded but utterly loyal brutes more. Handso and charming couldn’t replace practical and reliable. The Guard was there to protect him, and the substantial shift in status from slave to guard was enough to earn their absolute loyalty to him, freeing Kor from the constant fear of sudden betrayal by those around him.
“Understood.” Tidying up his attire, Kor stood up. Today marked the first eting held a month after the establishnt of The Caucasus Cooperative Bank, a critical session to determine the operational direction of the bank.
Kor took Puber’s advice. After returning from the Bahumon Massacre to Ugru, he invited a group of industry elites now gradually integrated into the business community of Caucasus to discuss the feasibility of establishing a local bank. To his surprise, whether indigenous traders, immigrant gentry, or the Barefoot Society rchants including Caffrey, all showed keen interest in forming a bank and expressed willingness to invest as stakeholders in the establishnt of Caucasus’s first bank.
The enthusiasm of all parties once again made Kor aware of the accuracy in Puber’s words. Financial institutions, particularly those involving the authorities, were always the top investnt choice for Traders: high profits, low risks—an irresistible venture for those used to the ups and downs of the business sea.
Following Puber’s advice, with Lord’s Mansion holding a ten percent stake in The Caucasus Cooperative Bank, Puber was sent as the Shareholder representative. Not to Kor’s surprise, Zip, Hozer, and lbourne appeared as immigrant shareholder representatives, and Hesse, Maximi, even the Food rchant Kudan, ca as the native shareholder representatives. Caffrey, Palermo, Piro Feller, a friend of Caffrey within the Barefoot Society, and a spokesperson for Princess Katya’s interests beca the foreign comrcial power shareholder representatives. Thus the local bank, with a re capital of 15 million gold shields, broke ground.
Long engaged in finance in Susoer, lbourne beca the new boss of The Caucasus Cooperative Bank, as his single contribution accounted for thirty percent of the bank’s total—4.5 million gold shields were not a small amount. Moreover, the immigrant shareholders owned half of the entire bank, which spoke volus of the wealth of these rchants from ine and Susoer.
