Chapter 138: Chapter 4: Slaying Demons (2)_2
After completing all this, Kor was not at ease. He glanced behind him and saw that Ilot had perfectly cast a disturbance spell—”Phantom Residue”—using the Magic Scroll he had tailor-made for himself. Ilot successfully transford into two images of himself, a spell that held no value for any warrior or knight with a rudintary understanding of Elental Magic. However, for the Magical Beasts, it was an excellent tactic. The alternating images of Ilot effectively stalled the furious ogres. The two images, circling the ogres at high speed, allowed Ilot’s darkly gleaming great sword to occasionally pierce the ogres’ bodies. Although the strikes were not imdiately lethal, with Ilot putting all his Inner Qi into the effort, the tip of the great sword was already showing a faint shadow, which was enough to inflict damage on the bodies of the ogres.
The two images were sotis illusory, sotis real, flickering in and out of sight, dazzlingly indiscernible as true or false, causing the ogres with their imnse attack power to flounder in their ability to land a hit, only able to express their rage in roars and even more desperate assaults.
Easing his mind slightly, Kor turned his attention back to the Fla Tower in front of him. But suddenly, a bad premonition made his heart skip a beat. The wails and shrieks that had been ceaselessly emanating from the Fla Tower suddenly stopped. Before Kor could react, he felt a huge fluctuation of magic power in front of him, and suddenly the entire curtain of fire collapsed. A dark shadow burst out of the fire and pounced towards him.
Without ti to react, Kor could only instinctively tilt his head as darkness flashed before his eyes. A great force struck his chest and abdon, and a tearing pain spread through Kor’s entire body along with the whistling wind. However, the shadow that had broken through the barrier of flas did not pause in its assault. It perford an agile roll in mid-air and dove straight toward Kor, who had been knocked back several ters. Fortunately, the alard Ilot had already reacted with a roar, abandoning the two ogres he had been wrestling with. He lunged forward with all his might in a frontal stab that forced the ogre that had broken through the net to rotate sideways in the air, unwillingly abandoning its finisher move that had aid to take Kor’s life.
The three-headed ogre let out a deep howl from its throat, seemingly communicating sothing. Its massive fra slightly crouched as it swung its thick, powerful arms forcefully through the air, generating gusts of wind. This Magical Beast, possessing considerable intelligence, had realized that the two n before it were about to fall into its clutches, its eyes scouring over them with a mixture of fury, hatred, and greed.
Bearing the pain of his fractured ribs, Kor sat up shakily with Ilot’s support. He had never expected that, at a critical mont, one of the opponents would sacrifice itself to use the Magic Core Explosion Technique unique to high-intelligence Warcraft, forcibly using the Magic power within its body to strike and explode its Magic Core. The resulting explosion caused a brief distortion in a small area of space, creating a crack in the magic Kor had so firmly locked them in. With another powerful strike, it managed to break through the magical bindings, which Kor had previously reinforced with the Solidification Technique. The result was one ogre torn apart on the spot, while the other successfully broke free of the magical restraint, delivering an unanticipated, mighty blow to Kor.
Biting his lip to control his emotions, Kor at this ti could no longer afford to concern himself with much else. He grabbed an object the size of a fingertip from the pouch at his waist and flung it into the air. A chant as grim as one from hell rolled up from Kor’s throat, “O destination of all things, please save your faithful believer. He is willing to awaken the chaos of this world with a lifeti of faith. Awaken, Creator!”
As seven perfectly round Skull Beads touched ground, they suddenly emitted a crisp creaking sound of bone joints. Following a veil of black mist, seven skeletal fras the size of infants ford on the ground. Not only was Ilot, who had been guarding Kor, stunned by this scene, but even the three-headed Ogre poised to pounce from the opposite side was captivated by this unbelievable spectacle, motionlessly watching this miraculous transformation. If they had been witless lower Magical Beasts, perhaps they would have already pounced, and Kor and his companion, who were still defenseless, would have faced a certain doom. However, it was this slight intelligence that sealed their victory away.
The seven infant-sized Skeletons nimbly stacked upon each other. Like a magic trick, their bodies doubled in size. Repeating the sa motion once more, the Skeletons had grown to the height of normal Humans. Kor clenched his teeth, his gaze fixed intently on the Magic tools before him, which he had devoted countless hours to creating. These were his last resort for survival and were not ant to be used unless absolutely necessary, yet at his first encounter with the Ogre, he had no choice but to employ them. This sowhat disheartened Kor, but survival was of utmost importance. No matter how rare or difficult to create these Magic tools were, there would co a ti when they were needed. If they could save his life, they had served their purpose.
The black mist slowly dissipated, and the fully-ford Skeleton Warriors quickly moved, arranging themselves into a classic triangular pyramid attack formation. The Skeleton Soldier standing at the center held a Crossbow Case, which left Ilot, who couldn’t believe his own eyes, irresistibly rubbing his eyes and pinching his thigh to ensure he wasn’t dreaming. Fortunately, the pain from his thigh finally made him realize that all he was seeing was indeed the reality occurring before him in his life.
The three-headed Ogre finally sensed hostility and a murderous intent emanating from these odd piles of bones, and Kor could no longer care about the looks Ilot was giving him, as if he were a monster. He continuously chanted enhancent and Solidification spells to boost the attack power and defense of the Skeleton Soldiers, preparing for the approaching fierce battle. As a unit, these Skeleton Soldiers possessed a significant advantage against ordinary Human Mages, knights, or warriors. Their innate phosphorous poison gas, when combined with fla magic, could transform them into genuine Poison Fire Skeleton Soldiers. Those were particularly suited for lee combat, capable of inflicting great damage; not only could every part of their bodies harm Humans, but the poisonous fus released from the burning poison could easily kill any non-undead creature, especially Humans.
The Skeleton Spearn, poised for attack with their slender arms, seed sowhat comical, but their lunge positions were by the book. The Iron Spears in their hands, slightly tarnished, were held almost level, and flanking them were two Skeleton Warriors holding shields on their arms, pressing closely next to the Spearn. Their right hands wielded Broad-bladed Short Swords, the ideal Weapon for close-quarter combat. However, the juxtaposition between the substantial, heavy sword and the hand made of five small phalangeal bones and a slightly larger carpal bone was weirdly unsettling, causing an inexplicable discomfort.
The war finally erupted anew. When two of the Skeleton Sword and Shield Soldiers were torn to pieces by the enraged Ogre that broke into their formation, another Skeleton Soldier finally dealt a lethal blow, thrusting its Broad-bladed Short Sword under the arm of the Ogre, which flailed with broken bones. Suddenly, ashen blood burst from the armpit with the force of a Fountain, causing the Ogre’s body to shrivel instantly. A violent shaking followed, and anguished death cries filled the wilderness, so loud that Kor felt dizzy, weak all over. The Ogre’s dying sonic attack, like waves crashing against a dike, attempted to breach Kor’s sanity. For a Mage like Kor, who emphasized spiritual Cultivation, such an attack was particularly deadly, as it could reduce the Mage to an imbecile or a madman, akin to the outco of a Magic Power Rebound.
