Chapter 148: In a dark tunnel

Izaak looked at the evening sun from the palace’s top in the Northern Tower. He had watched the sunset after a long ti. Tilting his head, he realized it was Alora who had climbed the top of the tower to reach there.

"What are you doing here, Alora? And where’s Magnus?" Izaak asked.

Alora stopped in front of him as she tried to catch her breath while keeping her hand on her chest. She climbed almost a hundred stairs to reach the tallest tower in the palace.

"Magnus is with Father-in-law. I thought to see Brother Izaak know about his health when a servant told

he was here," Alora said as she looked around before her eyes landed on the sun on the horizon. It was more than half set and she stepped ahead.

Izaak asked her to be careful as they were at a large height and saw how her hands gripped the balustrade.

She sucked in the air and exhaled it out before opening her eyes. "It’s a different kind of atmosphere here, Brother Izaak," Alora said, tilting her head.

"Indeed," Izaak agreed. "Now, you can see everyone, so you are jumping around all the ti," he remarked.

"Because it feels good. I missed a lot of things while living like a blind person," Alora replied. "Oh, I wanted to ask Brother Izaak if he is doing well. And how about his wound?" she questioned.

"Yes, I am well. And the wound is healed. I drank a lot of fresh blood," Izaak stated with a smile, showing her his canines. He thought to scare her, but she didn’t get terrified since she was now used to it.

"I heard that you released Venus," Izaak said. "What if she again stabs at you from behind? Won’t you regret your decision then?" he inquired.

"I wanted to give her a chance. Even that vampire who left a werewolf behind was released. So, my sister also needs a chance. I think this ti nothing wrong will happen. I took the decision after a lot of contemplation," Alora stated. She knew Izaak always doubted her decisions.

"Do you want

to check on her once?" Izaak asked.

"What does Brother Izaak an?" Alora quipped.

"I can see the future," Izaak replied.

"Umm... Isn’t that doubting my sister?" Alora murmured.

"Not exactly. It’s being careful," he explained.

Alora lowered her eyes and said, "How will Brother Izaak do it? Could be able to see my future ever?"

"No. Yours is unknown to . But I did see your mother’s. And what I saw about you ca true. I still wonder if your mother’s future has changed or if is it the sa," Izaak stated.

"My mother doesn’t harbor anything wrong with . So, the vision Brother Izaak had that ti was false," Alora asserted.

"I would like to confirm. After your work finishes in the Council, take

to your ho. Will you?" Izaak suggested to her.

"Okay. I’ll tell Brother Izaak in the morning after discussing with Prince Magnus once," she replied. "Thank you for your kind concern, Brother," she had a tiny smile on her lips.

"It’s fine. You don’t have to thank ," Izaak stated.

"Ahh, Griffin told

that there’s a weekly ball in the capital. Did Brother Izaak ever go there? I heard you find partners there," Alora said with a shimr in her eyes.

"Why does it feel like you want

to get married?" Izaak quipped with a raised brow.

Alora vigorously shook her hands in the air along with her head. "I didn’t say that," she asserted.

"But you want that, no?" Izaak questioned as he leaned against the balustrade.

"It’s good to have soone by your side. I didn’t an to offend, Brother Izaak," Alora asserted, clarifying her stance.

"I’m not offended," Izaak chuckled as he rubbed his fingers. "I’m quite surprised. My mother asked the sa thing from

and now my sister-in-law wants the sa for ," he murmured.

Alora confusedly gazed at him.

"I’ve been betrayed in love not once but four tis. Do you think I still should believe in love?"

Alora recalled how Magnus told her that Izaak killed his four wives. He wasn’t as good as he seed. But she always thought he was misunderstood.

"They might not be able to understand Brother Izaak’s heart," Alora answered after a careful thought.

"You know that I’m the Crown Prince too," Izaak revealed his status to her.

"Yes, but what is with the title?" Alora muttered.

"My first wife wanted

to take over the throne. Then, my other three wives demanded the sa from . I thought all of them were different. Then, the last one cheated on . Strange! You are the first woman to whom I told this secret," Izaak affird.

Alora turned upset to hear his words. She could sense that Izaak’s heart was butchered terribly. That was why he beca a womanizer later as Magnus had told her. He wanted to forget his pain.

"I’m sorry, Brother Izaak, to make you recall the bad mories from the past," Alora said, keeping her gaze low.

"I don’t get affected anymore," Izaak told her not to be upset about sothing, which wasn’t even related to their present.

Alora looked at him, feeling the sadness in them for not being able to get love, which he deserved.

"What are you thinking now?" Izaak asked.

"Nothing," Alora replied. She looked toward the horizon and found the sun had set. "Brother Izaak, the future may hold sothing nice for you. Don’t give up. I used to think I’d live without any husband and with no one be by my side. However, I was wrong. Now, I’ve so many people around ," she stated with a hopeful smile.

Izaak looked at her with amusent but said nothing. Indeed, Alora’s life was more difficult than the others. But Magnus’s entry into her life changed everything for her.

"I was in a dark tunnel for a long ti. I thought light did not exist until I t Magnus," Alora stated and she again gazed at Izaak. "So, don’t lose hope," she added with a smile.
