A week later.

Mill fled up the stairs with sheets in one hand and a bucket of water in the other. They still had few rooms to clean up and though the Vampire Lords aren't expected to show until tomorrow night but she half expected so to show up today.

Mill opened the door to see Yasmin hanging from the ceiling as she tried to get the cobwebs in the corner.

"Yas!" Mill scread in horror. "What are you doing?"

"Miss Mill," Yasmin replied, swinging from the chandelier like a monkey in the wild. She landed on her feet with her hands spread out, one hand holding the broom.

Mill blinked at the scene and handed the bucket and sheets to her. "Do you need any help?"

"No, Miss Mill. I am almost done here. Thank you." She said with a huge smile on her as she stretched out her hands to accept the items.

"If there is anything you need, do let know."

"I can handle the rest for tonight. You have done enough."

"Alright, if you need . I will be in Mauve's room."

Mill walked out of the room and headed downstairs. Mauve should be waking up now if she wasn't already awake. She got to the door and knocked softly.

She braced herself, his grace had given strict orders to not let her out of this room for the period that the vampires were around. She knew she would not be pleased about it.

A soft "co in," ushered her into the room and Mill turned the knob.

As soon as she walked in, the weirdest of slls hit her. It slt like blood and at the sa ti it didn't. She rushed to Mauve who lay groaning on the bed.

"Mauve," she cried. "Are you alright?" She asked.

"No," Mauve shook her head and held her stomach.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"I think it's that ti of the month. It was a little late this month and I thought it wouldn't co until next month but I guess."

She struggled to lift herself from the bed and Mill saw her visibly wince but she didn't understand what was wrong.

"Ti of the mouth? What do you an?" Mill frowned, her voice laced with concern.

Mauve froze, her elbow was still on the bed as she was trying to lift herself. "Um, you know. Your monthly flow."

"Flow?" Mill shook her head.

Mauve squinted her eyes. "Female vampires don't have that?"

"I don't know what that is but I don't think we do."

"Then how do you bear children?" Mauve she asked. "If a human female doesn't get her monthly flow, it ans she is pregnant or can't get pregnant."

Mill's face darkened imdiately. "Is there anything specifically you need?"

Mauve paled and shrank back. "I-I just need water, warm tea, please. So clean rags as I don't want to stain my underwear, I fear I have already ruined this. Soup and I will be in bed all day as the first is always very painful."

"I see," Mill said chanically and walked out of the room.

She felt bad for reacting I'm such a manner but she couldn't help herself. It wasn't Mauve's fault that her mother had died while giving birth to her and her brother and they had also gotten killed for it.

Nevertheless, it was still sothing she had not co to terms with and whenever she was reminded of it, it hurts. She had never seen their father, she wouldn't know it was him if he was the only one in the room.

Mill walked down the stairs absentmindedly. She got down the stairs when she heard the sound of the front doors opening. She lifted her head and in walked Lord Alaric Bathory and his mate Lady Marceline.

Lord Alaric clung to his wife and she held him as one would a child. He had his hands around her arms and she rubbed his head. "We have arrived," she whispered. "You did good."

"Mill," she cried as she caught sight of the al. "One of the rejected twins. Lead us to our room." Her arms flew around as she spoke. "Alaric is tired and would like to retire."

Mill glared at her. "A servant would be at your service shortly. It's just been less than an hour since the sun set. To say you're early is an understatent."

"Alaric doesn't like to leave the castle and we both know imdiately after the sun sets is the best ti to travel if you want to avoid getting attacked by a paler. The fact that I have to tell you this is alarming."

"The party isn't until two nights away. You are early. You know where the drawing room is, find your way to it. The fact that a servant isn't here yet ans they are busy."

Marceline scoffed, "I suspected the young King wouldn't be able to properly organize a party. This is Helda."

As soon as she said the words, the maid walked out the side of the door. She was holding two huge bags. Why she had kept herself hidden all this while beyond Mill. She could sense her presence.

"This is the head of my household servants. I brought as I figured you lot might need the extra help."

The vampire looked young but Mill knew she had at least a century over her. Her eyes shone with eagerness.

"Thank you for your thoughtfulness, Lady Marceline. We appreciate the help. However, I have pressing matters to attend to and if you would make your way to the drawing room, I would be delighted."

"Thirty minutes, Mill. I understand that this is a tight ti but we are the King's guests and being treated less would not be a good representation of his leadership."

Mill nodded and watched the Lord and Lady walk away. She bit the inside of her cheeks as she watched. She had let her emotions get the better of her and had almost ruined things but having another bad mory thrown in such a short ti was too much even for her.
