Mauve blinked, the first thing she noticed was the drawn curtains. There were candles lit irregularly across the room but the drawn curtains were the major source of light.
She could feel Jael glare on her as she closed the door behind her and walked forward. She couldn't see his face clearly as he had his back to the window.
There was a shelf to her right, it was filled with books but the top held a vase. No flowers, just an old vase sitting atop.
There were two couches in the room, they were arranged directly in front of his desk, the only desk in the room. It was huge and Mauve knew she could lie down comfortably on it.
There was also a fireplace but it didn't look like it had ever been in use. There were other shelves against the war but the corners were too dark to see.
His gaze on her didn't waver and the fact that he had not said anything since she walked in was unnerving.
She walked past the chairs, not stopping until she stood directly in front of him. He leaned backward and she got a glimpse of his forehead. His gaze was still on her.
Mauve bent her head and grabbed her dress. "You weren't at the second al," she mumbled.
He raised a brow, "As you can see, I am busy."
He folded his arms across his chest and Mauve could feel his eyes all over her body. They rested briefly on the cleavage and she reddened. Knowing Jael, he was sure to get the wrong idea.
"I know," she quickly said. "However, I wanted to ask if I can go to the rooftop now."
Jael's eyes darkened and he sat upright, "Not yet," he said stiffly, leaving no room for argunt.
"When then?" She asked, gripping her dress. "I don't mind staying up while it gets cleaned."
"No, anything else?" He asked.
Mauve shook her head, still keeping her gaze down. She could tell she was about to be dismissed.
"Co here," he said softly.
"Huh?" Mauve asked, jerking her head up.
"You heard ."
Mauve swallowed and rounded the table as she walked toward him. She stopped about four feet from where he sat.
"Co closer," he ordered.
Mauve eyes darted around as she wondered what this was about. She took a step forward and stopped.
"Even closer. Are you scared?" He sneered.
Mauve glared at him, she couldn't see his face but she could hear the amusent in his voice. She could not comprehend why he was amused. She closed the gap between them and stood directly beside him.
He grabbed her arm and pulled her onto his lap. Mauve yelped at the pull. He brought his face close to the back of her head and she felt his cold nose against her neck. She shivered.
"Why didn't you eat before going to bed?" He asked, his breath feeling warm against her shoulder.
"I-I…" She felt him take a deep breath.
"You look less pale now," he comnted.
Mauve grabbed herself. Of course, she looked less pale now. He had his hand moving around her waist and his nose on her shoulder. She was flustered from head to toe.
"That must have been from the lack of sunlight," she muttered.
Jael's hand froze on her body. "This was a different kind of paleness. Maybe, if you hadn't skipped your al it could have been avoided."
Mauve rolled her eyes, "It was just one al. I ate well during the second al."
Mauve could rember eating and she could also rember not tasting the food at all. She had only eaten because she was hungry.
"The point is, it shouldn't happen again. I would rather not have to worry about your health because you were being a little bit careless."
Mauve felt his warm tongue on her neck and her back stiffened. For a minute she had wrongly glorified the situation, she realized. Jael didn't care particularly for her, he cared that she provided him with healthy blood.
"It won't happen again," she glumly said.
Jael moved his face away from her neck and his left hand that was on her waist moved upwards. Mauve tried not to squirm. She had her gaze straight ahead but she could feel his stare on the back of her head.
"You can go outside anyti," he said into her hair.
"Yeah, under supervision."
"Would you rather go alone?" His voice was heavily laced with sarcasm.
"No," she would rather not be a al for wild animals. "However, you have been too busy recently to give any ti."
"I am sure I give you plenty of my ti," his lips were on her neck again. "However," he pulled back, sounding serious. "I can ask any guard to accompany you, just say when."
"Sunrise," Mauve said without hesitation.
"Done," his lips were back on her neck again.
"Jael," she softly called.
"Yes," he answered absentmindedly.
"You said I can go out any ti," she mumbled.
"Hmm."
"Does that an even in the nightti too?"
Jael imdiately pulled away from her and he picked up the wooden stick that lay on the table. He had a parchnt paper laid out in front of him and it was obvious he was in the middle of writing sothing.
Mauve imdiately thought his handwriting was pretty. It was cursive, the annoying kind that you have to bring close up to understand the words.
"Completely out of the question," his cold words caused her to jerk.
His left hand was still on her back and it slowly moved upward to her shoulder. His wrist rested on her shoulders while his fingers trailed the outline of her bosom.
Mauve imdiately felt all the blood go to her head. However, her attention was imdiately drawn to the parchnt paper. Jael was writing with the wood stick.
Mauve lips fell open and she opened her mouth to ask when she heard a knock on the door. Mauve instinctively tried to stand on her feet but Jael held her down, his fingers on her bosom didn't move.
