Mauve had the last al in her room. She had been unable to hide her shock when Mill had brought her dinner. She had tried to hide it but it was too late, Mill had already seen it.

When she had asked for Vae, Mill had given her a flimsy excuse. She had not pestered but now she was worried. She slipped to the edge and stood to her feet.

She sat back, she couldn't exactly go out and demanded to see Vae. Sothing was definitely up, she had to be patient, she saw her before sunset and nothing seed out of place. She should try to be calm.

A soft knock and Mauve jumped to her, she threw the door open and didn't bother to hide her disappointnt. She moved out of the way so he could walk into the room.

Mauve watched him drop the tub and after giving it so thought she asked, "Have you seen Vae, my maid?"

Mack stared at her, his expression was unreadable. He slowly shook his head. "I don't know."

Mauve tried not to act surprised that he answered. "T-thank you and could you send her to when you do see her?" she said.

He nodded and walked out of the room. Mauve closed the door behind him and walked to her bed. She sat on the edge and waited but there was still no sign of her.

She approached the tub and sat in it. She carefully scrubbed herself, it had been a while since she had to do this herself. She didn't bother washing her hair, she didn't think she had the energy to style it.

She got out of the tub and dried herself, she picked sothing simple and slipped into bed. She pulled the string and picked up a book. She knew she couldn't sleep but at least she could read.

Two loud knocks.

"Co in," Mauve said without raising her head.

"Is sothing the matter, Mauve?" Mill asked with a soft expression.

"No, I am just done for the night and I don't want to be interrupted after I have gone to sleep." Mauve listened to herself partially lie.

"Oh okay then, I will take the dishes and send Mack right up."

Mauve smiled back and returned her gaze to her book but she could read a single line. Mill picked up the tray and started walking toward the door.

"Is Vae still busy?" She didn't raise her head as she asked. Trying her best to look as disinterested as possible.

"She has retired for the night. A little sick," Mill muttered.

Mauve imdiately raised her head, " Is she alright?" She asked as the book fell out of her.

"She is fine, it is nothing serious." Mill tried to calm her down. "She just needs to rest for today."

The relief that went through Mauve was intense, she knew sothing was up but she was glad it wasn't anything serious. She smiled and settled into the book.

Mauve heard the connecting door and she stiffened. She had half expected to spend the night alone. She imdiately adjusted her hair and sat upright but she didn't raise her head.

He walked toward her and took the book from her hands.

"I am reading that," she whined and tried to reach for it.

"Not anymore," he dropped the book on the table. "I want to sleep."

"I don't," she muttered and folded her hands.

Jael didn't respond, instead, he turned off the lights.

"It's dark," she grumbled.

"I know, you will sleep faster." He got into bed and lay beside her.

Mauve didn't move, she remained seated on the bed with her hands folded pouting into the night. Mauve felt Jael's hand go up her leg and before she had a chance to react he pulled her down.

Mauve slid into the sheets effortlessly and Jael wrapped his arms around her. She tried to fight him off.

"Simr down," he whispered.

Mauve felt her body lax even before she gave it the command to. She felt her body warm up as she let him hug her. She couldn't even comprehend why she was putting up a fight.

"How do you feel?" He whispered into the back of her neck.

Mauve shivered, "Better," she mumbled.

"Good. Does it still hurt?"

Mauve reddened and shook her head.

"Good," he said and went silent.

Mauve felt his hands tighten around her.

"Vae left," he whispered.

Mauve froze and for so reason, she felt her eyes water. "What do you an?" She managed to say.

"She left Vampire Regions."

"Alone?"

"Damon went with her."

"I see," Mauve mumbled. "Did she say why?"

"Yes, her job here is done."

"Okay, I want to sleep now!"

"Goodnight," he whispered into her hair and Mauve sobbed in response.

She wasn't even angry, she just felt abandoned and sad, very sad. Jael didn't say a word as she sobbed, he just held her.

She knew it was better for Vae, the vampire regions didn't suit her and the longer she stayed the sadder she beca. She had seen how happy Vae had been when she told her as if sothing she had been waiting for had finally happened.

She didn't want to think about it, didn't want to dwell on it. The only bright side was that Vae would get to see her family again. Her fiance and they can get married.

She smiled to herself and tried to cheer herself up but it only tripled the tears. Eventually, she stopped crying but only because there were no more tears shed.

She finally fell asleep and her sleep was filled with dreams. Dreams she couldn't recall when she woke up.

She opened her eyes to find only herself in bed. She didn't move but laid awake in the sa position.

She heard a knock on her door but didn't answer. Another knock and she still didn't respond. The door opened and Mill walked in.

"Mauve," she called when she was close enough. "Would you like to have your bath first or the first al?"

Mauve didn't respond.

"Mauve," Mill called.

"I will let you know when I am ready. For now, I would like to be alone please."

"Okay, Mauve." Mill started to leave but stopped. "I apologize for lying to you and not just telling you she was gone. I just didn't think it was my place to let you know."

"It is fine. Please, leave."

Mill nodded and slowly walked out of the room but not before giving Mauve one last look.

Mauve listened to the door close and rolled to her left side. The tears that were flowing to the right imdiately changed directions.

She didn't know which was worse, the fact that Vae left or the fact that she didn't bother to say goodbye to her. She felt dejected and didn't know what to do about it. Vae had helped in ways that she didn't even think about.

She couldn't find a reason to leave her bed. Didn't even think if she found one, she would want to leave. Vae was the only person she ever made so sort of relationship with and even Vae left her. Maybe she would never have anybody on her side.

Mauve rolled to her right and closed her eyes, she prayed from sleep but even that eluded her. She groaned and rolled again. She was tired in all aspects.

She heard a knock and swore. She didn't want to be disturbed. She just wanted to lie in the dark and sob. Even though she couldn't cry anymore, she wanted to be left alone.

This ti, they didn't bother knocking again but the door was pushed open.

"Mauve," she heard Mill call her from the door even before she hurried toward her. "You can't remain in bed."

"I don't feel well and would like so rest, thank you." She turned so her back was facing Mill.

"Well, you at least have to eat sothing."

"Okay," she muttered, she didn't have any energy to argue but she knew she had no appetite.

"What would you like?" Mill asked.

"Anything is fine."

"You have to be specific, Mauve. I don't want to bring anything you won't eat."

"Soup and so fruits." At this point, she was willing to say anything if it ant Mill would leave her alone.

"Okay, I will bring it right away, Mauve."

Mauve closed her eyes and prayed she wouldn't bring it too quickly, the sound of her coming in and going out of the room was starting to piss her off.

"Here, you go Mauve."

Mauve was glad she didn't bother knocking. The sound was irritating her ears.

She pointed to the table and Mill happily dropped it.

"Could you leave alone for a couple of hours? I would like to get so sleep as soon as I am done."

"Of course," Mill said.

Mauve stretched out her hand and picked an apple. She made sure Mill saw her and as soon as the door closed she dropped the apple and slipped into the sheets.
