Mauve tried not to make any sound as she and Mill looked at the patches of white skin on her stomach.

It wasn't just one, in a glance she could spot at least five, she knew if she counted, there would be more.

"It's spreading," Mill announced in horror. She quickly grabbed Mauve's arm to inspect it. "This one is the sa, neither the size nor number has changed."

Mauve could only nod at Mill's words, she still couldn't process this, or more like she didn't want to process it.

There was already enough confirmation that it might be what she feared but Mauve didn't want to believe it.

The white disease was basically certain death, it might take a while but she would succumb to the disease.

She was sure there was so other explanation. Mauve wasn't about to let herself jump to conclusions without confirmation.

"What is this?" Mill asked. "Why is it spreading so fast? It is all over your abdon!"

"I don't know," was the only thing Mauve could say. She didn't have the answer to this.

"Did you show the Primus?" Mill asked. "I don't think this is sothing you should be quiet about. By the looks of things, it will only keep spreading."

Mauve shook her head. "Jael saw it but not the ones on my stomach. I am as shocked as you. I didn't realize it was spreading."

"Oh no. Do they hurt, itch, or anything?" Mill asked as she stared at Mauve's stomach.

Mauve shook her head, "No, I can't even tell that my skin is any different aside from when I look at it."

"So, this doesn't feel weird?" Mill asked, touching Mauve's stomach.

"Nope," she whispered. "It doesn't feel any different."

"Would you like to call the Primus in?"

"No," Mauve replied. "Just wash up. I will tell him myself. He will most likely ask Lord Kieran to check it."

"And you don't have any idea what it is," Mill asked, her gaze searching Mill's face.

Mauve sighed and looked away, it was obvious the vampire could tell she knew sothing. "I do have an idea but I am hoping and praying that's not the case."

Mill's expression darkened. "Then that's not what's wrong with you."

Mauve laughed, "Thank you." It was a silly assurance but it was good enough for her.

Within minutes, she was back on Jael's bed. Mauve looked at her clothes and shook her head. Lately, her outfit has mostly been her night dresses and Jael's shirt, today was no different.

Jael was back and on his hand was so soup for her to eat. By the sll she could tell it would be delicious. Mauve hoped she wouldn't throw up after eating it.

"Jael," she called at the end of the al.

She had managed to eat all of it but not without Jael's help.

"Yes," he replied as he adjusted the pillow behind her, making her comfortable.

She smiled at him as she prepared to break the news. "The white patch on my arm has spread to my lower stomach. It practically covered it."

Jael paused and drew back to stare at her face. "What do you an?" He asked.

Mauve sighed and pulled the covers down to her legs. She figured it was faster to show him than to explain.

Jael watched her movents with keen interest. She pulled up her nightdress until it stopped just underneath her bosom.

His deep breath was the only reaction he made. He traced one of the patches with his fingers and then looked up at her face.

"Mill noticed them when she was helping with her bath. I would have noticed them by myself eventually. They are not exactly hard to miss."

"What is this?" Jael asked Mauve. By the distressed look on her face and the way she looked at him, he could tell she was deeply bothered by this.

She had been very dismissive about the fact that she was sick but these white patches were different.

It was almost like she had confird that sothing was wrong with her and by her reaction, not good.

She was right though, the white spots were easy to spot. It was almost as pale as his skin was. It was concerning.

"I don't know," she replied and slowly let go of the dress which covered her lean stomach.

Jael winced, she had lost so much weight in such a short ti. Her eyes looked a little shrunken and even though she was getting enough sleep, it didn't look like it.

"You have an idea," he persisted. He wanted to know what it was. Sohow, he could tell this was not one of the tis he would let her decide when to tell him.

"I do," she replied.

She sniffled and maybe it was the way the light reflected against her eyes but Jael could have sworn her eyes watered.

"I am listening," he encouraged.

"I don't know for sure but I think it is the white disease," she whispered.

Jael's brows knitted, he had heard about this several tis. It was the excuse Evan had given for not sending a physician. It was also what had caused the death of Mauve's mother.

"The white disease?" He repeated.

"I suppose you have heard of it?" She asked.

"It is not unfamiliar to ," he explained. "But aside the na I know nothing else about it. You are sure this is it?"

"About 70%. If I have the white disease, there is a very high chance I'll die."

Jael blinked, he had been careless. He should have gotten a physician the night she had fallen sick. Jean would have been here by now.

Mauve wasn't saying these words lightly by the look on her face, she had thought deeply about it.

However, there was one thing he was certain about. He wasn't going to let that happen. He knew he would do everything in his power to stop it.
