Sabrina moved fluidly as they danced together, Jael couldn't help but admit she was a pretty good dancer.

A few steps into the dance her voice reached his ears. "Did my parents put you up to this?" She asked.

"Perceptive, aren't you?"

"Hah, I wish. It would be stupid of to think you just walked up to . Besides, I saw you speaking to them just before you appeared in front of ."

"I see but this could all be my idea. Speaking to your parents beforehand might have just been a coincidence."

Sabrina chuckled, "It wasn't a coincidence."

"You sound so certain," Jael said with a frown. He wasn't annoyed, more intrigued.

"Of course," she stopped speaking as she did a little spin away from him before coming back into his arms.

"You have never spoken to unless it is absolutely unavoidable. The most attention you have given to is after I got close with Mauve."

Jael frowned, "Is that why you did it?" Wondering where she was going with this.

"I can't say that my friendship with Mauve is completely devoid of ulterior motives…" Sabrina's words trailed a little at the dark look on Jael's eyes. "But it's not the kind you think."

"You better not even think about harming her, should one hair…"

"I wouldn't dare. She's a nice girl and I do enjoy her company. I know it may be hard to see but I truly do think of her as a friend."

"Why tell this then?" He asked.

"I figured it would be best to let you know my intentions. I can tell you have your suspicions about ."

"I do," he said blatantly.

Sabrina gasped a little. "Then why didn't you prevent from getting any closer to her."

"Why would I do that? My aversion towards you is my own. Mauve seems to trust you and that's enough for ."

"You do…" The words dried in her throat and she nodded. "Thank you."

Jael didn't say another word as they finished the rest of the dance.

As soon as the dance ended Sabrina curtsied to him before she walked away. It was hard to read the look on her face but if he were to describe it, it was as though she had an epiphany.

He was still in the middle of the dance floor when he felt soone walk toward him. Jael swore. He could leave now but by the looks of things, he couldn't without making a big deal. It would be easier to dance with her.

He glanced at Mauve and he could see she had her gaze locked on him. It was hard to tell what she was thinking from this distance.

He wondered if it bothered her. He wanted it to. He wasn't doing this to get to her but he truly hoped it did.

He made to run his hands through his hair but stopped in ti. What was he turning to? She made him not think logically.

"Sire," Jevera said with a curtsey. "May I have this dance?"

Jael laughed, "I think I am the one who is supposed to do the asking?"

She slowly lifted her head and looked at him. "I think I have spent enough ti in your presence to know if I want sothing from you, asking is the only way I'll get it."

"What if I say no?" He asked.

"It wouldn't be the first ti. I am sure I can handle another no. I doubt my pride will recover though but I'll live," she replied confidently.

"I suppose, it wouldn't hurt," he replied and stretched out his palm.

"Thank you, Jael. You've always been kind to ."

Jael winced as he heard his na leave her lips. He was so used to only Mauve and sotis Louis calling him by na that he had forgotten he gave her permission to do that.

He almost wanted to revoke it but knew there was really no point. He would most likely not have to deal with her until another party and that wasn't going to happen any ti soon.

"Are you picking Sabrina?"

Jael laughed out loud. "I thought this was a dance, Jevera. Why is it suddenly turning into an interview?"

"I deserve an answer don't you think? If you are going to pick soone else beside I at least need to know first."

"Good to see that even though your pride is down, your audacity is still all-ti high."

"I didn't an to be rude."

"I beg to differ. You're already getting a dance. Be grateful. Trying to poke your nose into my life is not a good look. At the end of the day, there would be nothing left of your pride to pick up."

"I am not trying to get back with you," she replied.

"You couldn't, even if you tried. I ended our arrangent a long ti ago. It's a little pathetic that you still aren't over it."

She looked at him with hurt in her eyes. "You're never nice to ," she whispered.

"I thought you said I am always kind."

"I was being polite," she whispered.

"You shouldn't be. I tossed you aside. Trying to wiggle your way back in isn't a good look."

"I truly had no chance," she replied. She lifted her chest, "I am not trying to wiggle back in. I wouldn't take you if you ca crawling back."

"Good," Jael said as they moved to the end of the dance. "You shouldn't and I truly hope you find your mate soon."

Her eyes widened slightly and then they softened. "That's the nicest thing you have ever said to ," she replied.

Jael pulled away from her and she did a little curtsey. He slightly nodded his head and she looked at him with a smile.

He didn't know what that ant but by the looks of things, he might have said sothing she was pleased with.

He frowned. Was Mauve rubbing off on him? He would never have said half the things he just did.
