Lord Seraphino was bowing even before he walked through the doors of Jael's study but this wasn't because he highly respected his Primus rather it was to hide his smile.
"Sire," he said, stopping in front of the desk. "You called for ."
He raised his head, showing a composed expression that held no curiosity for why he was being summoned. After all, he already had an idea.
"That, I did," Jael said as he stared at Seraphino.
"May I ask why?" Lord Seraphino feigned ignorance.
"I am sure you already know, playing dumb won't change the matter," Jael spat out.
"Well, I find it hard to believe the Primus would personally call to his study to discuss such trivial matters. Surely, it must be sothing gravely important."
"Drop the act, Seraphino. There is no need to beat around the bush."
"There is no bush, I speak nothing but the truth. I do not know why you have called here."
Jael narrowed his eyes at Seraphino though the attitude of the Lord annoyed him to no end, he was actually unfazed.
"I called you to discuss the matter of the human you brought into my castle," Jael stated.
Seraphino frowned, "I broke no rule. I simply brought my bloodslave with . Just like yours is constantly within your vicinity. I do not wish to anger the Primus but I assud it would be no problem."
"It isn't," Jael responded curtly. Seraphino calling Mauve a bloodslave had pissed him off more than anything else he said.
"Then what may the issue be?" He frowned.
"The human in your care," Jael said without blinking. "I want you to give her up. In return, I'll consider your wishes."
Seraphino's eyes narrowed, "May I have a seat, Sire?" He asked.
"Of course, go ahead and make yourself comfortable." Jael gestured to the seat right in front of him, just across his desk.
"I have no reason to give up my gift. I quite like it very much. It's definitely much better than drinking blood off a sac, I am sure you can understand my point of view, Sire."
"Well, your Primus is asking," Jael leaned forward.
"Oh," Seraphino said. "If you put it like that. It almost sounds like you're testing my loyalty on the basis of so human."
"Surely, a request from your Primus shouldn't be so hard to fulfill," Jael leaned back on his seat, his gaze never leaving Seraphino's.
"It's not," Seraphino said without hesitation. "However, I am not the kind to return gifts."
"Is that a no?" Jael asked, his gaze darkening.
"Of course not, Sire. I would never go against your wishes. However, I don't think I should be the only one who should give up my bloodslave."
"What are you insinuating?" Jael asked.
"We could simultaneously give up our humans. Wouldn't that be fair? It would definitely uphold the rule of no longer using humans as bloodslaves."
"Completely out of the question," Jael said and didn't offer more explanation.
Seraphino blinked at him, obviously not pleased with Jael's reply. "I apologize Sire but I don't want to give up what's mine now."
"Are you sure there is no way we can co to a consensus where we would both get what we want?"
"Well, we could switch."
Jael frowned, "What do you an?"
"I have no plans to give up my bloodslave. However, I wouldn't mind considering this if I got another in exchange. Since you want mine so much I'll give it to you but you'll have to give yours. You would say that's a fair trade, won't you? Everybody wins."
Lord Seraphino grinned, and his slightly crooked fangs made an appearance. The blotch in his perfect smile.
"I'd have to?" Jael laughed. "You misunderstand, Seraphino. I was simply trying to do this in a way that benefits you even though it is nothing close to what you deserve but if you say nothing would make you give up your gift then this conversation is over."
A shocked expression passed across Seraphino's face and it took him a few seconds to recover.
He cleared his throat and stood to his feet. "I suppose it is," he bowed and slowly made his way to the door, looking confused.
"Oh, that reminds . Otis has been a wonderful help," Jael said as Seraphino touched the handle of the door.
"I am glad," Seraphino replied. "I can't wait to see the end of Palers."
"That should happen sooner than ever," Jael whispered.
Seraphino bowed again and pulled open the door.
Seraphino made his way back to his room. His guards stood by the door, their eyes on the ground as he approached.
He could imdiately tell sothing was wrong. He didn't ask any questions, just walked through the door of his room.
The human was in the corner, still tied to the place he had left her. Nothing seed to be amiss but he could tell the mont he walked in.
The sweet sll in the air was hard to miss. It was nothing like any of the slls in his room. The Primus little bloodslave was here, he knew that imdiately.
Seraphino strutted to the corner of the room where the human clung to the wall. He yanked her up by the hair.
"You had visitors, didn't you?"
She didn't reply, just scread in his face. He let go of her and she fell to the floor.
"I don't know what his plan is but, he would certainly want to get you away from ." He dropped to his knees and touched the side of her face. "Oh, I really struck the jackpot with you. I knew you'd be useful from the mont I heard you used to look after the princess but I never would have thought you'd be this useful."
Suddenly his face fell and he stood to his feet. "Still, sothing doesn't feel very right. It will be best to be careful and never let you leave my side."
