"It is, I'd be sad if I couldn't bear a child for my mate," Mill said as she tried to console Mauve. "I'd be devastated. I know you love the Primus and I know he loves you too. He doesn't exactly do a great job at hiding it. It's like he wants everyone to know," she grinned.

"You're just saying that to cheer up," Mauve whispered.

"No, I have no reason to lie to you," Mill responded.

"You're right but doesn't it bother you?" She asked and wrapped her arms around herself. "I know it bothers the rest of the vampires."

"Bother ? Surely, you're joking. I'd rather you be Jael's mate than any of the other stuck-up vampires who don't hesitate to show off their status."

"I am human."

"And my father thought I was cursed. You're preaching to the choir."

Mauve chuckled, "I suppose I am. I am not really a princess," she blurted out.

"What?" Mill blinked, a little taken aback by the information.

"My mother was a peasant, she's not the Queen. My mother had died of a disease when I was five, leaving in the castle. My father hated for this, for the sha I brought to him, and wasted no ti in getting rid of when I was old enough. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you before now but you see I couldn't but when I left and ca back, Jael said it didn't matter that I wasn't completely royalty."

"I don't care about your roots," Mill whispered but Mauve could see she was still processing the information Mauve had dumped on her lap.

"But I lied to you," Mauve replied.

"No, you didn't. You just omitted so crucial details."

Mauve laughed, "Crucial, still." She didn't know how Mill would have reacted to this but this was definitely not what she had expected.

"Yeah but not a lie," Mill insisted.

"I guess you're right." Mauve smiled at her.

"Feeling better?" Mill asked.

"Yes," Mauve said and threw herself on the bed. "I wanted to tell you forever but I couldn't. It feels so good to finally do that."

She had felt so bad that she had been able to comfort Mill as soone who had also lost her mother and had a father who hated her simply because she existed. It felt so freeing to tell Mill.

"I knew we had so many things in common," Mill said with a soft look in her eyes.

Mauve laughed, "I don't think that's sothing to be happy about."

"Maybe, maybe not. Who cares?"

"I suppose you're right," Mauve said and placed her arm on her stomach as she lay on her back.

A knock suddenly resounded in the space. Mauve frowned as Mill jerked to the door.

"Who is that?" Mill asked.

"Probably, Louis. Jael did say he was coming around."

"Lord Louis," Mill said and jumped to her feet.

Mauve noticed her hand went to her hair. Mauve was sure Mill didn't even realize she was adjusting her appearance.

She smiled to herself, it was nice to see it unfold. She really wished it would work out between the two of them. However, she wasn't sure they felt that way about each other.

"Lord Louis," Mill said with a bow as she opened the door.

"I told you such formalities between us is unnecessary Mill," Louis sighed, and then his eyes narrowed. "Am I interrupting sothing?"

"No, not at all," Mill responded.

"Are you sure?" He asked and took a step closer to where Mauve lay on the bed. "The air slls salty."

Mauve rolled her eyes, Vampires and their sensitive sense of sll. Of course, he could sll her tears.

"It does?" Mill returned, trying to sound as though she didn't know what Louis was talking about.

"You're awfully quiet," Louis said as he stood a few feet away from Mauve.

"Am I?" She asked.

"Obviously," he responded, eyeing her suspiciously.

"I guess I am just tired," she replied.

Mauve watched Louis' expression soften. "I heard the human under Seraphino is an acquaintance of yours. You have my condolences," he replied and gave her a nod.

"Would you not do that? Don't make it sound as though she's dead." Mauve glared at him as she sat upright.

"Well, good to see you're just fine," Louis replied with a smile.

"Certainly not thanks to you."

"Are you sure about that? Anyway, are you ready?" He asked.

"Yep," she said and pushed herself to her feet.

"I don't know if I would be able to get you into his room. There will definitely be guards standing at his door. I can co up with a lie later for why we got into the room but right now, I need a stupid task to get the guards away from the door." Louis groaned, looking visibly stressed.

"You could send them on a wild goose chase or actual errands," Mauve said.

"Obviously but these are Seraphino's guards, they really only answer to Seraphino's orders." Louis winced as though he just realized sothing.

"What?" Mauve asked with a frown.

"Nothing important. I just realized why Potato Head wanted to be in charge of this. In this castle, my orders are only second to him. However, of course, the blockhead did not calculate the off chance that the guards may have no idea who I was. I was away for four decades. In human years that's half of a lifeti."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Can you figure it out? I don't really care for your sob story."

"I am going this far to help you and this is what you'll say."

"You know I am grateful. Can you figure this out?"

"Of course, I am Louis," he announced proudly.

Mauve gave him a disgusted look, "I don't care what you think you are," she said and got to her feet. "As long as you'll help see Vae."

"I will or die trying," he replied and Mauve laughed despite herself.

"No need for such dramatic gestures, thank you."

Louis threw her a smile before walking to the door.
