"Co in," Jael said with a frown at the incessant knocking.

Louis walked in with a scowl on his face. "You didn't have to make knock for so long."

Jael shrugged, "I suppose you need sothing from . The fact that you're here and not in the dining hall says it's important."

"Yes, I finally got a hold of Otis," Louis explained as he approached the desk.

Mauve was still on Jael's lap and she clung onto him tightly.

"It's almost ti for the last al. You couldn't find him earlier?"

"Yep, he was out of the castle the entire ti and only just returned. It was annoying trying to find him."

"Well, all that matters is that you. What did he say?" Jael didn't hide his disinterest in the matter.

"Did you know about his occasional rounds?" Louis asked.

"Occasional? He only asked for permission once, I didn't think it was a usual thing."

"Well, I asked about it and he said he had asked Danag and Danag had told him where it was and that he could take the amount he needed."

"Liar!" Jael said without missing a beat.

"Sa thing I thought, I was going to ask Danag but he is probably already in the dining hall. I decided to report it to you instead."

"Let it go," Jael replied.

Louis raised a brow, "That's unlike you."

"It would be Danag's words against a Lord. It's not going to be easy for anyone else to believe himself should this blow out."

"So you want to let it go?" Louis said.

"I don't know what this is but I am not about to fan it. If his behavior becos suspicious we can send him away after the party, for now, let him be. Unfortunately, his presence would be missed."

"You're right about that. He is the only other vampire in his squad who can take out a Paler without too much help. The strength behind that chubby face doesn't match up."

"Yeah, for as long as he is useful, I can turn a blind eye. If his cons beco more than his pros, I'll deal with him myself."

"As you wish, Sire," Louis said with a mock bow.

"Anything else?"

"Nope, not that I can rember."

"Well then, we will see you down at the dining hall."

"Bye Mauve," Louis said with a wave.

She grinned at him and waved back.

"Are you okay?" Jael asked as the door shut. "You seem awfully quiet."

"I am?"

Jael nodded.

"I just didn't want to interrupt the conversation. It seed important."

"It doesn't an I don't want to hear your opinion. What do you think about Otis?" He asked.

Mauve winced, she didn't like him. That was for sure, not after what he said to Mill. However, she didn't know if her dislike was a definition of his character.

"I am listening," Jael said when she was taking too long.

"I don't like him very much but that's because he's not nice and not because he has done anything bad to ."

"Do you want him to leave?" He asked.

She shook her head, "I don't. He is helpful and if it's a fight against Palers, I do think we need every help we can get even if the help has a nasty attitude. Technically, he's no worse than E…"

Mauve pouted as he realized she almost called one of Jael's personal guards.

"He is no worse than who?" He asked.

"Never mind. Shouldn't we be on our way to the dining hall now?" She asked.

Jael frowned but didn't argue. "Yeah," he said and slowly helped her to her feet before he stood up behind her. "We should go."

"Yeah," she replied absentmindedly and took a step forward.

"It's crazy how much smaller you are," Jael suddenly said.

Mauve turned around so fast, that her hair made a swishing sound as it hit Jael's clothes.

"What?"

"I said it's crazy…"

"I heard you," she couldn't believe he had wanted to repeat that. "What has that got to do with anything?" She asked.

"Why do you sound angry? You don't like that I ntioned it or that it's true?"

Mauve glared at him and strutted forward. "Nobody likes to be called short," she mumbled.

"But I didn't say that," he went after her.

"But you might as well have."

He grabbed her wrist and she tried to pull away but his tight grip didn't let go of her. She gave up and had no choice but to walk next to him.

The hall was pretty quiet when they walked in. Mauve thought that was a little odd but she didn't dwell on it.

Everyone stood to their feet as they paid their greetings to Jael, bowing their heads as they called to him.

Jael simply nodded and walked to his seat. They sat down and the servants started dishing out their als.

"I was wondering when you'd decide to show up," Louis said, directing his question at Jael who completely ignored him.

"You know he does as he likes, he is the Primus after all," Lady Marceline chipped in.

Mauve just sat in silence as she listened to the banter between them. He seed completely unfazed by their remarks and he chose to ignore them.

Jael looked to be in a good mood and would occasionally glance her way. Mauve tried not to smile at this.

Of course, she wasn't the only one that noticed and she could see Louis gave her a questioning look. Thankfully, he didn't ntion anything about it and he seed to let it go.

Mauve tried not to look in Otis' direction but it was hard to do so when she had heard about the incident. It was hard to tell what he was thinking from his expression. She hoped it wasn't anything to be worried about.

The al went smoothly and it ended before she could be consud with worry. Sure enough, Jael wasted no ti in leading her to his room.
