Mauve squinted her eyes at Jael, he seed totally unbothered, and maybe so should she.

"You're right," she smiled at him.

"I am always right," he grinned, his impeccable teeth and smile made her catch her breath.

"No, you're not."

"Okay," he said but not before rolling his eyes.

She stretched in his arms, groaning loudly.

"Do you want to massage your shoulders?" He asked.

"Aren't you being very nice?" She smiled.

"What's that supposed to an? I am always very nice to you," he whispered.

She squinted her eyes at him. "Well, you're right."

"I told you, I am always right."

"No, you're not." She said stubbornly.

"If you say…"

Mauve watched Jael's words drown out as a huge frown appeared on his face. "Now what does he want?"

As soon as the words were out of his mouth, a knock resounded and without waiting for a response, Louis walked in.

"Louis," she cried in excitent.

He stopped imdiately and looked genuinely shocked. "I thought you were outside," he said and slowly closed the door behind himself.

"Is that why you thought you could barge into MY study without permission."

"Well, I am already in here. You're not going to kick out, are you?"

"It depends. What do you want?"

"I ca to see Mauve," he replied and plopped onto the couch. "I heard she was dying away."

"I am not," Mauve retorted.

"Obviously and as always I always get a front view to your… I am not even going to ntion it."

"You're getting comfortable. Nobody said you could stay," Jael comnted.

"You'd want to," his tone suddenly sounded serious.

"What happened? I thought you were here to see Mauve." Jael frowned.

"I was and I expected Kieran to break the news to you. However, I might as well kill two birds with one stone."

"What does that an?"

"Kieran suspects soone is stealing the drugs."

"What?" Jael yelled.

Mauve felt his half lift from his seat. His expression changed imdiately.

"That's impossible!"

"Is it really?"

"No," Jael said and leaned back onto the seat. "But who would be stupid enough to do that?"

"That's what I want to know but it seems like soone who doesn't think they would get caught."

Jael frowned, "Isn't that overconfidence on their part?"

"They are being very careful and they aren't stealing enough to raise any alarm. However, they are stealing from Kieran. If it was anyone else they wouldn't have noticed but Kieran would notice that kind of thing."

"Does he have any idea who it is?"

"Yeah, he wouldn't bring it up if he hadn't already made his conclusions."

"Who is it?"

"I am pretty sure you can take a guess."

"Otis?" Jael frowned. "He wouldn't be that stupid."

"Well, I beg to differ. At least Kieran begs to differ."

"How many has he stolen?" Jael asked.

"Not a lot. Maybe three vials but that's from Kieran, he probably stole more from the earlier stash."

"We haven't even started distributing this because of the break in hunting Palers. We only used them when Francine's estate was attacked."

"Yeah, so it's a bit concerning that he would do this." Louis lifted his right leg and placed his ankle on his left knee.

"Not really. I wouldn't say it's concerning. More like stupid. If it stole a stupendous amount it would be concerning. However, the amount he is taking can't even be used for a raid, and sounds like it's more to piss off than to cause an actual problem. Deal with it!"

"What? Why?"

"Obviously, you heard about it."

"Would you stop giving tasks? I am not here to be your errand boy."

"You can leave if it's not to your liking," Jael said with a shrug.

"Jael," Mauve called.

"Whatever, I'll deal with it. If I knew that would be your response, I would have let Kieran let you know instead."

"Do you think I should be concerned about Otis?" Jael suddenly asked.

"No," Louis said without hesitation. "He follows Seraphino's orders, he wouldn't ss up bad enough for it to be pinned to his Lord. I'll talk to him about it. I am sure he would have so explanation.

"Well then, I am glad you decided to deal with the situation. You may leave."

"I didn't co here for you, you can't tell to leave."

"Jael squinted his eyes. "Tell him to leave Mauve."

"No," she whispered.

Jael blinked for a second but Louis was already speaking so she didn't get a chance to hear his reply.

"I heard Auntie ca to see you, Mauve. She told you weren't in," he said looking at Jael.

"She lied," Jael replied without blinking.

"What?" Mauve asked, exasperated. "She didn't. He wasn't here when she ca."

"Oh, what did she tell you?" He asked, concerned.

"Nothing much," Mauve said with a shrug. Louis looked genuinely worried. Mauve noticed Louis and Jael exchanged glances.

"Okay, that's good," he replied with a sigh and leaned back on the couch.

"Why do you have that look on your face?" Mauve asked.

"Well, let's say Auntie doesn't exactly have a filter."

"She was nice," she responded.

"Shocking!" They said simultaneously.

"Why do you find that hard to believe? She even complinted ."

"And what would that complint be?" Louis asked, squinting his eyes.

Mauve swallowed and looked away, "Plum chicken," she whispered.

Louis snickered, "Okay that's definitely Auntie. She doesn't hate you, that's a good thing."

"You say it like her opinion matters," Jael comnted.

"Not to you but I am sure it does to Mauve."

The silence that followed was loud and Mauve could only look from Jael to Louis.

"It shouldn't," Jael finally said.

"I should go," Louis said. "I have delivered my ssage and seen Mauve. Later."

She waved him bye with a soft smile. The door shut and she leaned into Jael. He wasn't saying anything and she didn't know how to deal with the situation.
