Mauve walked up the stairs leading to the rooftop with Mill by her side. The vampire held the lamp leading the way. Mill pulled the door open, the door protested against her pull but it was pretty obvious who would win.

Mauve walked through the opened door and Mill followed right behind her. She heard the door close and turned to see Mill didn't close it all the way.

She waited for the vampire to go ahead of her before Mauve carefully followed behind Mill. She couldn't really see much and unfortunately, the moon wasn't on their side tonight.

Mill walked briskly and lit the lamps around, imdiately lighting up the entire place. Mauve's eyes brightened as she stared at the garden. It was truly not in terrible shape.

A few bushes needed trimming but it was pretty obvious they had been carefully and carefully watered. She approached the nearest bushes staring at the dying flowers.

It would be out of season soon and she would have to wait for the next one to see it bloom again.

"What do you think?" Mill asked.

"Thank you," Mauve said, turning to her. "They look like they have been properly cared for."

"Don't thank ," she whispered. "It was mostly Mack. I only ca here a few tis to make sure he wasn't ssing around. Let know if anything is unruly. I will make sure to scold him accordingly."

"Nah, it's perfect for . I truly couldn't have asked for more," she said and touched the petals.

"I know it isn't as perfect as you left it, so don't be so forgiving."

"But I don't have to do so much work. I should be able to do everything today." She grinned.

"Alright then," Mill replied, smiling with her. "Unfortunately, I won't be able to stay with you."

Mauve frowned and turned her gaze from the flower to Mill again. "Why not?" She asked with a confused expression.

"Because I have to speak to the Primus and I have a few other errands to run."

"Is sothing wrong?" She asked.

"No, of course not," Mill said.

"Okay," Mauve replied. She tried not to look sad but she assud they would spend the day together as usual.

However, it would be selfish of her to even tell Mill this as the vampire wasn't tied to Mauve.

Mill had duties and a job. Of course, it would an she would have to do them. She was sure most of the ti Mill spent with Mauve was out of her working hours.

"Don't look so sad," Mill said and lightly touched Mauve's shoulders. "I certainly won't leave you all alone by yourself and I intend to keep you company for as long as I can. You don't have to worry about your safety. No vampire would be crazy enough to co here."

Mauve nodded even though Mill's response was far from what she was thinking about. She winced a little as she recalled the mory. Funny enough it wasn't as terrible as the last ti she thought about it.

She would have to be careful, she knew that more than anyone. It didn't help that there were new faces and a lot more vampires.

The first al had been worse than the last al the day before. The vampires had a certain air around them. Mauve couldn't help but wonder if sothing was wrong.

"I know," she replied. "I am not worried."

"Okay," Mill smiled at her. The vampire looked a little relieved. "Let's get working then, I'll keep you company for a while."

Mauve nodded and turned to the flowers. Since she was expecting to get herself dirty, she had dressed accordingly. She knew she could have waited until dawn to do this so she could see it clearly but Mauve had been concerned about what she would spend her night doing and decided to tend to her garden.

She fetched from the bag of soil and carefully refilled the corners of the flowers.

Mill stood behind her, closely watching her every act. She felt a little self-conscious at having soone there but Mauve realized that over all she didn't really mind.

She finished two out of the five sections and Mill called her attention. "Mauve."

"Yes," she said, turning around to look at Mill with dirt in her fingers.

She instinctively hid them behind her back even though Mill must have already seen them.

"I have to go soon. I told the guard to be here in about half an hour. I am sure it is ti already. They should be here any mont from now. They would stand outside the door so you don't have to worry about interaction."

Mauve wondered if Mill had seen the expression on her face. She was grateful there would be no chance of conversation. She was sure it would be awkward as hell.

She nodded, "I probably won't stay here for too long. I should be done with everything in less than an hour."

"I will co get you by then, is that alright?" Mill asked.

Mauve nodded, "That's perfect…"

They simultaneously turned to the door as the sound of it opening enough on the rooftop.

"The guard must be here," Mill said and took a step toward the door. "Though I didn't expect him to co in, I thought he would just knock."

She frowned as she tried to see who was coming behind the door. The door fully opened and a figure walked in.

"Lord Louis," Mill cried. "What are you doing here?"

He closed the huge gap between them in seconds. "Well, I am free and Mauve needs a guard, I figured I might as well lend a hand."

"We are grateful, Lord Louis."

Louis squinted his eyes, "I did tell you, you don't have to call that. Louis only is fine."

"I am afraid, I can't do that," she said, keeping her gaze to the floor. "I shall leave you two."

As soon as the words were out of her lips, she fled to the door and she was gone before Mauve could even register what was happening.

"If I didn't know better, I'd say she was avoiding ."
