Being scared wouldn't help anyone right now. All she had to do was enjoy the ride, the least she could do was have faith in Jael and she did. She trusted him with her life.

His eyes glead in the nightlight, forcing her to look up at him. "Yeah," he replied. "Nothing is going to happen to you again. Not on my watch."

Jael broke eye contact and turned to Louis, "Thank you for your concern but as you have heard, she is fine."

"Yes, Sire. I heard that. What you think and what is right are two different things." Louis responded.

"Louis," Jael called, his gaze darkening.

"Well since you're waiting, I guess there is no harm in heading backward for a few minutes. We would have a higher chance of running into them than just waiting out here where a Paler will easily chop off our heads."

Louis started walking away. Sohow Mauve didn't think it was a good idea to separate. She didn't need anyone to tell her they stood a better chance together.

"Louis," Jael called to him. "Don't leave. We stay together. I know this seems like a terrible idea but the sa way they can see us will be the sa way we would be able to see them coming." He explained.

Louis stopped walking and turned around. "That makes sense if we can run faster than a Paler."

"We will get a head start. As long as we all run in different directions and make sure not to miss anything on the horizon, we will be safe. Besides, Palers are white as snow. We would be able to spot one before it spots us."

"I guess there might be so sense in what you've said," Louis admitted but he didn't look completely convinced.

"So?" Jael looked absolutely horrified.

"This is still a bad idea," Louis replied. "But at least, it isn't completely unsafe."

"Yeah, there are so risks to it," Jael said.

Mauve was surprised Jael wasn't arguing and was willing to break it down for Louis to understand even though Louis was pissing Jael off. However, the worst thing they could do right now was fight amongst themselves.

Safety was important, more than anything, and the lives of the vampires, even those she had no relationship with, were also important to her and she hoped they were fine.

She said a silent prayer. That was pretty much the only help she could offer. Hold out hope that they would reach them soon.

Mauve turned her gaze to Erick, she was a bit surprised he hadn't chid in with sothing negative. He wasn't even looking in their direction. He just had his gaze ahead, looking around as he stared at the terrain.

Mauve couldn't see anything except the dark and maybe so rocks. It was hard to tell what they were and the harder she stared out, the more her vision morphed.

"How long are we going to wait for them to get here?" Louis asked suddenly.

"As long as it takes," Jael responded. Like Erick, he was also constantly looking around.

"Not a good plan," Louis replied. "We need a ti fra. The longer we wait here, the more our chances to escape the Nolands unscathed dwindle."

"We won't leave Danag to die," Erick said.

"Of course not," Louis replied, he looked flabbergasted that Erick had even thought about that. "But we can't wait out here forever. Palers are not the only thing to be worried about, the sun might rise soon."

"I am sure he will get here soon enough. If he doesn't then sothing is ultimately very wrong and we might have to go after them," Erick said. He still didn't look away from the terrain.

"I am not saying we should abandon them," Louis reiterated. "I am simply stating how much of a disadvantage we are in. Aside from the fact that we are with Mauve which drastically reduces our fighting power, we are also out in the open with nothing to protect or shield us in any..."

"Enough… I understand your fear Louis but you're not making this situation any better. Have so faith in Danag. We are waiting for as long as it takes and that's final!"

Mauve jerked a bit at the intensity in Jael's voice. He sounded annoyed and irritated.

However, she couldn't completely disagree with Louis' words. It was obvious his complaints were from a logical perspective rather than being scared or impatient.

Jael and Erick were leaning towards being sentintal and leaving no vampire behind. Still, she knew if she was in their shoes, she wouldn't choose to leave Danag and the rest of the guards behind.

Louis wasn't completely suggesting that but he was suggesting that they put their safety first and worry about the others when they were completely out of hot water.

She winced a little as she rembered he had dragged her into the conversation while making his point. She wasn't any help at all and if they were to get attacked now she would make it much harder for Jael to attack.

At least all the vampires here could hold the ground against a Paler. She could only scream in one's face.

She winced at the last mory. She already knew the difference between her and Vampires but for so reason, it was really glaring now.

She glanced at Louis and he winked at her. She smiled at him. She didn't know what to say or do in this situation and it was pretty sad that all they could just do was wait.

With no ti fra of how long this would take, it was easy to get overwheld and anxious. They were literally sitting ducks as they couldn't make a move until they heard sothing.

Suddenly, Erick set off, without any warning. "Erick," Jael started to say to try and stop him but the rest of his words died in his throat.

She heard Louis swear just as he set out after Erick, leaving Jael and her behind.
