Erick fell onto the grass, "I can't believe we made it," he cried as he rolled around.

He spread open his hands and stared up at the bright sky, taking in a deep breath, his hands rubbing against the grass.

"Can you never behave properly?" Damon asked.

Erick sat up imdiately, his eyes pointing daggers at Damon. "Just because you're head guard now, doesn't an you get to talk to in that condescending manner."

"This is how I have always spoken to you."

"Enough, good to see you still have the energy to banter, I guess I didn't push you lot that hard," Jael berated.

They were standing in his castle compound. They had co through the side of the fence that work had not started on as this was closer to the front door.

The stars in the sky twinkled down at them and Jael let his gaze run. They were behind so bushes and trees. He was sure no one was aware of their presence just yet.

After dealing with the Paler, they imdiately continued the journey and thankfully, didn't run into any Palers for the rest of the way.

The brunt of the journey has been having the stamina to speed their way past the Nolands and into the Vampire Regions.

In the Vampire Regions, there was so semblance of safety as compared to the open grounds of the Nolands.

As soon as they were out of the Nolands, Jael got a burst of energy and he noticed he wasn't the only one as his guards had also picked up their paces after him.

They were here now and for so weird reason, he got the feeling that one could explain as heart in the throat.

A few more feet forward and he would see Mauve. What would her reaction be? Would she be excited to see him? Did she miss him and think about him while he was away?

All these thoughts made his feet heavy and dulled his excitent from rushing back. He took a step forward. For soone who literally has been running for three nights at full speed, you'd think he'd pick up the pace now that he was closer.

He brushed his hand over the bushes, making a path for himself. This was what the front of his castle looked like. It was almost embarrassing at this point.

Usually, this didn't bother him but now he has seen the view that Mauve was used to. There was a slight pinch in his ego, after all, it wasn't like he couldn't make it better.

The front of his castle appeared and he went up the stairs at the sa pace. The doors of the castle were imdiately thrown open, as expected. Now that he was this close, he was sure that at least the guards behind the door could sense his presence.

"Sire," they said in unison, followed by a coordinated bow. "Welco back."

"Boy, am I glad to be back," Erick said, directly behind Jael, he winced as the loud voice caught him off guard.

"Welco back, Lord Erick."

"I want a hot bath and a warm al, relay that to the servants." Erick blurted out. He handed the bag to the guard and they readily accepted it.

"Jael," Jael heard a soft voice, and his breath caught.

He looked up to where the sound was coming from, at the top of the stairs stood Mauve, and beside her was Mill.

Even though she was a floor above him, he could see her clearly. She had her hair down and was wearing a peach dress.

The dress stopped around her shoulders and he could clearly see that she was using her hair to cover the scars that were peeking out.

There was a single necklace around her neck and from where he stood he couldn't see if she was wearing any earrings.

She had just stepped out of her room and had walked all the way to the top of the stairs. He had been so distracted that he didn't notice her presence until she called him.

He was walking to the stairs before he gave his legs the order. He didn't like the warm feeling in his stomach, he didn't have to lie to himself, he knew he was so happy to see her.

"Jael," she repeated with a bright smile this ti.

She grabbed the hem of her dress and ran down the stairs. Halfway down, she jumped and Jael had to rush forward to catch her.

"Mauve," Mill called out in fright as she jumped.

She landed on his arms and Jael imdiately felt how warm and slender she was. "Whoa, careful there. If I knew you'd have this reaction, I would have taken a trip a long ti ago."

She wrapped her hands around his neck, "Welco back," she whispered, burying her face in his chest.

Jael was certain he slled awful, he had considered baths a waste of ti and had even asked Damon to toss the bag that contained the change of clothes.

Vampires don't sll but he had been through grasses, dirt, and a cellar the past couple of days, he was sure so was hanging off his clothes.

"I thought you said a week," she said, sounding as though she wanted to cry.

"Yeah but I finished what I needed to do on ti, there was no point delaying the trip back," Jael responded, she was clinging to him like a little child.

"Yeah only because you made us run for three nights straight." Erick blurted out.

"Really?" Mauve asked, pulling her face away from Jael's chest to look at his face.

"Erick is always spitting nonsense, pay him no mind."

"Hey!" Erick called out.

"Welco back, Sire," Mill said as Jael started up the stairs.

"Thank you, Mill." He noticed a weird expression across her face but didn't pay it any mind.

"I will take her," she said when he got to the top of the stairs. "It is ti for the second al and we were just on our way there."

At Mill's words, Mauve tightened her hand around Jael's neck. He didn't think it was a conscious action.

"It is fine, she can eat with ."

"As you wish, Sire," Mill replied with a bow as stepped aside to give room for Jael to pass.

"Get a hot bath right now."

"Yes, sire." The words were barely out of her mouth when she fled down the stairs.

Jael walked slowly to his room, mindful of Mauve in his hands. She didn't say anything, just hung onto his neck as he held her across his arms. He thought she felt lighter.

He pushed open the door of his room with his one hand and slowly walked into his room, it slt of her. He wondered if she had slept in his room while he was away.

"You seem happy that I am back," Jael said as he sat down on the bed.

She looked up at his face, "Of course I am happy you're back and you even ca back earlier than you said you would." A light pink color appeared on her face and she brought her gaze down.

Jael smiled to himself, this was a better reception than he had expected but it was certainly worth the trip. There was sothing about the way she was clinging to him.

He bent his head down and took her lips, at this point he couldn't hold back anymore. For the past couple of days, all he had slt was animals, dirt, and nature. The worst part was, it wasn't even the good kind of nature, it was the murky kind.

After dealing with that for two days and three nights, it was hard to not have a strong reaction when her sweet scent was all over his face.

Her warm body was heating his cold one and all he wanted to do was trace his fingers all over every inch of her.

Her soft lips touched his and Jael's nostrils flared. He cradled her head for easy access as she tightened her arms around his neck.

He sucked on her lips, loving the sweet taste that twirled around his tongue. He carefully coaxed her mouth open, he wanted to taste more of her, he needed to.

He opened her mouth and Jael sucked on her tongue. His other hand moved around her body, tracing her dress. Just as he was about to cup her bosom, a loud knock resounded.

Mauve pulled back imdiately and Jael swore, he was hard as a rock. She was panting as she stared up at him, her chest gently lifting up and down, Jael found that he could not take his eyes off the bit of cleavage showing.

"Soone is at the door," she said breathlessly. Her cheeks were bright pink as she turned away from him to the door.

"I know," he said, not taking his eyes off her. By the size of his fangs and feeling his pants, it was taking him everything to not continue what he started.

"Co in," he said reluctantly and the door was thrown open.
