"I will co to check on you later. If you need anything, don't hesitate to tell Mill." He brushes her cheek with his thumb of the sa hand that held her chin.
"Okay," she said. It was hard to keep staring into his eyes. It felt as if he was looking right into her.
He dropped his hand from her chin, "Good. Don't cause any trouble." He said as he walked away from her.
"Huh? I don't cause trouble," she called to his retreating back.
"Sire," Mill said with a bow when he got to where she stood by the door.
He looked at her, "Let know as soon as anything is wrong."
"Of course," Mill nodded, showing hints of a smile.
He walked out of the room without a backward glance. Mill closed the door and Jean finally broke from the trance he was in. He stood to his full height and walked to her.
"How do you feel?" He asked as he sat in front of her.
Mauve nodded her head. "Tired mostly but it might just be because I am hungry." The words were barely out of her lips when she yawned.
"What about pain?" He asked.
"Aside from the twitches, nothing unbearable," she explained.
"Okay, I will change your wound dressing. If anything feels weird, strange, or painful, don't hesitate to let know."
She nodded as she stared at him. He looked away from her to Mill who was still standing by the door. "I would need a bowl of warm water and so towels, please." He requested.
"Okay, anything else?" Mill asked as she opened the door.
He shook his head and she walked out, shutting the door. Jean stood up as soon as the door closed, he walked to the corner of the room and started searching through his bag. Mauve couldn't see what he was doing nor was she curious to find out.
He returned a few monts later and sat down as they both waited for Mill to return. He never really tried to have a conversation with her unless it was about her wounds.
Before the sowhat awkward silence could stretch any further, the door opened and Mill walked in. She placed the water by Jean's feet and the towels on the bed.
He then proceeded to take off the bandage. Mauve winced as he undid it. The bandage stuck to her skin, hurting a little. Seeing that the bandage is a little hard to undo, he dipped the towel into so water and dabbed on it to loosen it up.
The rest of the wound's dressing ca off without a hitch. The bandage revealed the three lines of stitches and it churned Mauve's stomach to look at it.
"It is healing nicely," he comnted as he applied a new coat of ointnt.
She forced a smile, she would rather not know. It stung slightly as he applied it but it wasn't enough to get a reaction from her.
Mauve didn't even peek at her shoulders as Jean dressed it. She completely looked away from it and it wasn't until Jean wrapped her arm in a clean cloth that she finally looked at her shoulder.
"All done," he announced proudly and she sat upright.
"Thank you," she mumbled looking at her wrapped shoulder. She proceeded to touch it and it felt a little numb.
It was soon ti for the first al so the physician went out to join them for the first al while Mill cleaned her up. It was a quick bath and she didn't want to be in the water longer than necessary.
Next ca the herbs and Mauve did her very best not to gag. It was annoying that even though she had been taking the herbs for this long, she was still not used to any part of the herb. Not the sll, not the texture on her tongue and then the back of her throat, and definitely not the taste.
She ate her first al quickly in an attempt to get the taste of the herbs out of her mouth. It partially worked.
"Would you like anything else?" Mill asked.
Mauve shook her head, already feeling woozy. At this point, she was convinced that there was sothing in the herbs that made her sleepy because the number of hours she slept was slightly botherso.
"Would you like to lie down then?" Mill asked.
Mauve shook her head. A part of her was worried that Jael might co in to check on her and she would miss him. Then she wouldn't be able to tell if he ca or not.
However, her body had other ideas because after a couple of minutes, she could barely keep her eyes open and she ended up sliding down the bed and going to sleep.
Mauve felt cold hands on her cheeks and her eyes flew open to see Jael staring at her. She managed to stop herself from screaming in fright as he looked just as surprised as she did.
He pulled back, "I didn't think it would be that easy to wake you up."
"I was half asleep." She said for no reason at all.
He raised a brow but didn't comnt on her response. "How do you feel?" He asked instead.
Mauve groaned, she was almost sick of the question. "My mouth tastes sour. I hate the herbs," she blurted out.
"But they are good for you," he said chanically.
She glowered at him, "I didn't say I don't want to take the herbs. I just said I hate the herbs, I know I need to take the herbs."
Frankly, that was the only reason she could even stand the herbs. If she had a choice she would have stopped drinking them from the first day.
"Good," Jael said and touched her cheek. "Make sure you take them properly."
Her eyes widened and she nodded before looking away from him. Her cheek felt slightly hot. "I will," she managed to say.
Jael squinted his eyes and pulled his hand away, "I have to go," he said.
"Okay," she said with a nod.
