197 The Locust Plague Arrived

“Mm-hmm!” The two brothers replied in the affirmative again.

As they talked about the happenings in the village, Liu Daniu told everyone about the Wang family.

He didn’t actually go to watch the show last night, but it didn’t stop his neighbors from going.

Then, early in the morning, he heard about the Wang family’s farce last night.

!!

“Yo! That Wang Laoshuan. He’s got so guts this ti!” Uncle Liu said in surprise.

“That’s right. I heard that Madam Qian’s body was covered in injuries, and her head was also cracked.”

“In the end, she was beaten until she beca unconscious. Only when Dashan went over did Wang Laoshuan stop.”

“That’s what she deserved!” Uncle Liu replied.

“This kind of scumbag bitch should be killed to put an end to the trouble she caused.”

Aunt Liu shot a glance at Uncle Liu.

Uncle Liu then looked away awkwardly.

Why was his wife looking at him like that when he scolded Madam Qian? His wife wasn’t a scumbag.

Liu Daniu could not help but laugh when he saw this.

“That Madam Qian is still Dashan and Wang Xiaoi’s mother. He would have gone overboard if he beat her to death.”

“But this ti, Wang Laoshuan has beco more unyielding and hit Madam Qian ruthlessly. I believe she won’t dare to co again.”

Uncle Liu nodded in agreent.

“It’s good if she dares not co back again. That kid Dashan will have less burden without a mother like that.”

Of the many offspring in the village, Uncle Liu had a fairly good impression of Dashan.

Especially since the incident involving his sister, that child had been working day and night to support the family.

That Dashan was a good kid!

“True,” Everyone voiced their agreent.

Liu Daniu brought up the matter that Wang Xiaoi had ntioned to him, which was she wanted to rent a room from the Liu family.

“No problem! They are all from the sa village, and we have an extra room in the house anyway. If they need it, we’ll rent it to them,” Uncle Liu gave his approval readily.

Aunt Liu also nodded.

“Although Wang Laoshuan and Madam Qian aren’t that great, the two younger ones in the Wang family are good,” she said.

Everyone expressed their agreent.

The group of people returned to Brook Falls Village as they talked.

At the sa ti, at the Song family’s residence.

Qin Xiaoyao had just finished taking a bath and entered the room when she saw Song Que lying on the bed, waving at her.

Under the dim light of the oil lamp, the man’s gorgeous face looked even more alluring and delectable.

The woman stared until her eyes almost popped out.

How could Song Que not see through that woman’s thoughts? The smile at the corner of his mouth deepened.

He even patted the spot beside him.

“Co quickly!” Song Que urged.

When the woman heard this, it was as if she had been hit by a hallucinatory mushroom. Qin Xiaoyao imdiately walked over.

Then, she took off her shoes and climbed into bed.

She was just about to pounce on him like a tiger, but the man grabbed her hand.

Then, Qin Xiaoyao heard the man say, “The pillow is a little low. Lend your tummy for a while.”

The woman’s slightly perverted expression instantly froze on her face.

The man’s heart was filled with delight when he saw her reaction.

However, the man held it in and continued to act innocent. (Author: This guy was so evil inwardly!)

A look of disappointnt flashed across Qin Xiaoyao’s face.

After looking at her ‘innocent little white flower’, she endured the disappointnt and lay down.

After that, Qin Xiaoyao patted her chubby little belly generously.

“Co on,” she said.

Forget it, forget it. He was her husband, after all. She would pamper him!

Song Que smiled and imdiately rested his head on his wife’s lower abdon.

Then, he picked up a book and started reading.

Qin Xiaoyao saw this and reached out to grab Song Que’s book.

“It’s late at night, and reading will damage your eyes. You can read tomorrow,” she said.

A look of reluctance flashed across Song Que’s eyes, but he did not stop Qin Xiaoyao from taking his book away.

Seeing this, Qin Xiaoyao was very pleased.

“What’s so good about books? Let’s have a chat,” she said.

“Chat about what?” Song Que’s eyes were also filled with interest.

...

Qin Xiaoyao thought for a mont.

“Didn’t you say that there was going to be a locust plague in our town? Do you know the exact ti?” she asked.

It was already September, and the weather would gradually turn cold in October. The locust plague was probably not far away.

Qin Xiaoyao had just taken so ti out to make so dried vegetables and the like with her family, intending to keep them for consumption in winter. All the vegetables in the courtyard had been plucked clean. She did not have to worry about the crops being hard by the flying locusts.

Qin Xiaoyao wanted to understand more purely out of curiosity.

Song Que was taken aback.

“Soon. Probably in the next few days,” he continued after so thought.

After all, it had been so many years. How could he rember the exact date?

However, it was already September, and it was almost ti.

After the locust plague, the number of people fleeing from the famine around Mountain Spring Town would increase, and so people from Brook Falls Village would also leave.

If the people could still tolerate the drought, the locust plague was the last straw that crushed the people’s confidence.

...

Once the locust plague broke out, and the insects laid their eggs, the plague might happen again in the following year. It would not only affect this season’s crops.

Previously, he had heard his mother talk about how the grain price had risen sharply.

After the locust plague, the price of grain would really soar.

“Within these few days?” Qin Xiaoyao muttered.

“Then… do we still need to make any preparations?” At this point, Qin Xiaoyao’s tone beca nervous.

She had never experienced a locust plague before, but she had seen it on TV before the apocalypse.

It was quite scary when the overwhelming black mass swept over.

Song Que thought for a mont.

“Tomorrow, go and get so cloth back. When the ti cos, we will seal up all the rooms.

“Especially the storage room for our food. Just don’t let the locusts in,” he said.

In his previous life, he was still in Brook Falls Village when the locust plague happened.

The run-down houses in Brook Falls Village could not resist the locusts at all.

Fortunately, there was no food at ho at that ti, so it didn’t cause much damage.

However, even so, he and Ye’er had been bitten by the locusts and suffered quite a bit of injury.

Later, he found out that so of the villagers’ livestock had been killed by the locusts.

The locusts did not eat only food and plants but also animals.

Fortunately, the locust plague only lasted for about five days before the insects moved on. He and Ye’er barely managed to hold on.

Thinking of this, Song Que added, “Oh yes. Ask Mother to prepare so dry food and biscuits over the next two days. At that ti, we won’t leave the house if there’s no need to.”

If anyone opened the door, the locusts might enter the house, and it would be troubleso to clean them up.

Qin Xiaoyao was stunned.

“Alright!” She nodded in agreent.

At the sa ti, she thought she had to bake more biscuits with her mother-in-law and then send so back to her parents’ house.

Previously, Big Brother and Second Brother had only stocked up a total of 800 catties of grain, and she didn’t know if the grain they were eating recently was newly bought.

If it wasn’t, their families might not have enough food to eat in the future.

After chatting with Song Que about the locust plague for a while, Qin Xiaoyao finally changed the topic to the matter of the Liu family moving house.

“Big Girl said they’re moving the day after tomorrow.

“When we first moved, Daniu and Erniu ca to help.

“When it’s ti for their house moving, I’ll have to go there earlier too.

“But we can’t stop our family’s water business. I an, when the ti cos, Yun’er and Xiaoi will stay at ho to keep watch.

“Mother, the two of us, and Ye’er will go to the Liu family for dinner,” Qin Xiaoyao said.

Song Que raised his head and looked at his wife.

“I’ll stay with Yun’er. You take Xiaoi,” he said.
