Chapter 1307: Chapter 1302: Withdrawing from the Xiao Family

Her cries were so heart-wrenching that, separated by several courtyards, Xiao Qingyu heard them all the way from Xiao Yu’s place.

Xiao Qingyu knew, Xiao Muyan had seen those lanterns fashioned from the heads of people Xiao Yu had had prepared for him.

How could she not be devastated?

It was just like before when Xiao Yu lost his inner circle in the courtyard, Xiao Si, Aunt Yin and the whole Eagle Guard alike.

Xiao Qingyu asked Xiao Yu, “Brother, should we imdiately call for the clan elders and the Store Manager to capture Xiao Muyan and verify his body?”

This was her most vulnerable, least guarded mont, the perfect opportunity to strike decisively and prevent any further incidents from arising.

“No need to rush,” Xiao Yu sat in the wheelchair, clutching the family seal in his hand. “The Xiao family’s outward-bound cargo has yet to be retrieved, and the whereabouts of the trading items Xiao Muyan spirited away are still unknown.”

Taking advantage of these few days to confine Xiao Muyan within the Xiao family residence, they could use the handwriting of her second steward to retrieve as much of the previously shipped out money and goods as possible.

Xiao Qingyu saw Xiao Yu put the family seal aside. After so thought, he picked up the brush and started to write.

He approached and saw Xiao Yu was imitating the second steward’s handwriting, penning a letter to halt the movent of goods and trading items. He knew beforehand that Xiao Yu loved calligraphy, but he was unaware that he could produce such a convincing imitation. He himself had seen many calligraphy models and had copied a fair number of them, but he had to admit, Xiao Yu’s skill in reproducing such convincing forgeries was unmatched by him.

He simply stood by Xiao Yu’s side quietly, just like when they were younger, in his eyes, his brother was still his brother, his appearance unchanged from before, and just as before, he was profound and incomprehensible, commanding a mix of incomprehension and awe.

Only now…

He felt Xiao Yu had lost so of his human warmth and had gained quite a bit more of a killer’s ruthless aura.

He couldn’t help but think of his sister-in-law who had fallen off the cliff.

He didn’t know whether she still had a chance to survive, nor did he know if his little nephew was still alive.

What his brother had loved and cherished most in life had beco distant stars in the sky.

Rong Sheng had been staying in Chen Ruobai’s Stone Chamber all this ti, not straying to maintain his trust, but she needed to find a way to get the news about Xiao Muyan to Su Yingxue. She knew from Xiao Muyan that Su Yingxue was also within the Xiao family.

But Xiao family’s hundred-mile estate was simply too vast, she could rember only a few routes well enough to return quickly, and at this mont, she didn’t even know which garden she had wandered into. The aroma of flowers was heavy, and there was an occasional sound of silk and bamboo instrunts, singing faint, enchanting tunes.

Rong Sheng slightly furrowed her fine eyebrows—such a tumultuous ti for the Xiao family, who dared indulge in these affairs here?

She turned to leave, to avoid being discovered, but a woman with her waist exposed grabbed Rong Sheng’s wrist, pulling her forcefully behind the artificial mountains. The woman’s grip was strong, her voice however, was delicate and soft, “Master, look quick! Here cos another woman to please your fancy!”

Rong Sheng was pulled behind the rockery and imdiately noticed a luxurious couch adorned with gold and jade, fine wines, and delicious dishes. Chu Yifeng laid there amidst a throng of beautiful female slaves, lost in a dream-like stupor.

Upon locking eyes, both were montarily stunned.

However, they quickly recovered from the shock. Chu Yifeng squinted at Rong Sheng, “She’s not the one, drag her out and kill her.”

The female slave imdiately released Rong Sheng’s hand, shying away from her as if avoiding a plague and scurried to Chu Yifeng’s side.

Originally, she was pushed aside by three or four of Chu Yifeng’s female slaves, as she saw Rong Sheng appeared lost. Noting Rong Sheng’s beauty, she thought to use her to gain favor, but she never anticipated that Rong Sheng’s arrival would disturb Chu Yifeng.

She had to keep her distance!

Rong Sheng’s delicate brows knitted slightly, “Chu Yifeng.”

She realized the drug had taken effect; Chu Yifeng no longer rembered her.

Their past, he had forgotten!

But now, she couldn’t die at his hands.

Chu Yifeng arched an eyebrow, embracing a bare-shouldered female servant, his gaze deep and aningful as he looked at her, “Not my servant, yet you recognize , who are you?”

Rong Sheng’s eyes were icy, “Doctor.”

“Doctor?”

Chu Yifeng found himself inexplicably disliking such people, and waved his hand dismissively, “Take her out and kill her.”

Upon hearing this, Ah Hong hurried over. When she saw Rong Sheng, she was taken aback and turned to say sothing to Chu Yifeng but struggled to find the right words.

However, when Rong Sheng saw Ah Hong, she seed to think of a plan. She slipped a note into Ah Hong’s hand, instructing her, “Give this to Su Yingxue.”

Ah Hong was sowhat confused, but having Chu Yifeng order Rong Sheng’s execution was absolutely unthinkable.

Regrettably, Chu Yifeng’s hearing was superb. Upon hearing the na Su Yingxue from Rong Sheng’s lips, he scoffed coldly, “Yet another person connected to Su Yingxue.”

Seeing him lower his guard, Rong Sheng knew he held no intention to kill her and promptly turned to leave, secretly returning to the underground Stone Chamber.

As Chu Yifeng watched her hasten away, he felt a twinge of displeasure and pushed aside the servant by his side, taking a swig of liquor, “Who is this woman? She seems to understand quite well.”

Had she run too precisely and too fast, not fearing that he would chase after her and kill her?

Ah Hong, with pursed lips, dared not say a word, thinking to himself: This is the woman who understands you best in the world.

Nevertheless, regarding the note Rong Sheng had passed on, he asked Chu Yifeng, “Shall I deliver it to the empress right away?”

Chu Yifeng glanced at the note and smirked with interest, “So twisted? Give it to Xiao Yu.”

Rong Sheng quickly slipped out of everyone’s sight and returned to the entrance of the underground Stone Chamber. She took several deep breaths to calm her emotions before attempting to enter the Stone Chamber.

Chen Ruobai was quick-witted; she couldn’t allow herself to show even the slightest flaw around him.

But as her hand touched the stone door, Chu Yifeng’s face leaped into her mind again. His treatnt of her had been distant and rciless, calling for her death as if it were nothing.

His eyes held a veil of strangeness and an icy coldness.

For reasons unknown, Rong Sheng’s heart felt numb.

Yet she realized this was exactly the outco she had once desired. She had achieved it.

She couldn’t regret it now.

The plans she had made at Chen Ruobai’s side would have to change sowhat because of Chu Yifeng.

When she returned to the underground Stone Chamber, Chen Ruobai was directing people to move items. Not one for idle chatter, Chen Ruobai saw her approach and asked sharply, “You left the Stone Chamber without permission? Thinking of betraying ?”

Her gaze was as sharp as a knife’s blade, too intense for most to bear, causing them to quickly crumble and even reveal their weaknesses.

But Rong Sheng was like a proud flower blooming in the cold winter, cold and untouchable. Her eyes serene, she replied, “If you suspect , you can kill right now. I never explain.”

Seeing that Rong Sheng’s eyes didn’t flinch and that a coldness lingered in her gaze, Chen Ruobai withdrew her suspicions and chuckled lightly, “I was rely asking, no need to be so defensive. Quickly pack so items; I’ll get you out of here imdiately.”
