Zhong Nianyao’s frown deepened and after thinking for a mont, she asked again, “How many people have disappeared? Were there any signs before they disappeared?”
“Nearly every other day, one person disappears. More than fifteen people have vanished so far,” replied ng Die. “These are all very ordinary Little Immortals with not high cultivation. There was no sign of anything unusual before they disappeared; it happened abruptly.”
A glint of contemplation flashed in Zhong Nianyao’s eyes. “With so many missing, is there really no trace of their disappearance?”
“That’s the strangest part,” ng Die said. “We don’t know if they went willingly, but there was no commotion when they disappeared.”
“You don’t have to deal with this,” Zhong Nianyao said, a hint of solemnity in her eyes. “I will investigate this matter thoroughly.”
“Also, issue my orders: starting today, increase the defenses throughout Qingqiu. Furthermore, anyone who wishes to leave must report in advance. Inform all guards that those who don’t report are not allowed to step out of Qingqiu.”
