Chapter 731: Chapter 731: Going to the Appointnt

Upon hearing Zhong Niangyao’s words, Zhong ngfan’s heart sank, a bleak premonition surging up within her. Still, she spoke, “Go on.”

She could imagine that what Zhong Niangyao was about to say would be a significant blow to her. Yet, she asked anyway.

No matter what, this was about her own body, and she had to know. Whether it was good news or bad, she needed to know.

Zhong Niangyao looked at Zhong ngfan and said slowly, word for word, “You will never be able to bear children again.”

“What?” Zhong ngfan looked at Zhong Niangyao in disbelief and then asked urgently, “Is it because of my recent illness? Has it caused so problem with my uterus?”

“It’s not that,” Zhong Niangyao shook her head, “I’m just saying you can’t bear children, not that you can’t beco pregnant.”

Zhong Niangyao’s words only confused Zhong ngfan further, “Make it clear, what exactly do you an?”

“It’s simple,” Zhong Niangyao continued, “You should be well aware that the vitality within you was given by your parents. Without them, you would have died long ago. I ntioned earlier that, even though you’re getting better, your body is riddled with issues now.”

“In the future, even if you do get pregnant, your body certainly won’t be able to sustain it until the child’s birth. The only outco would be both mother and child perishing!”

As these words were spoken, Zhong ngfan was completely stunned. For a mont, she didn’t know how to react. Though she had already had one child, she was not yet married. But now, unable to conceive, could she still marry in the future? Or rather, would any man be willing to marry a woman who couldn’t bear children?

Even if there really were n willing to marry her for money, was she really going to marry such a man?

She felt that she was terribly unlucky; for her, this was an undeserved disaster. It wasn’t due to her recklessness or actions that she ended up in this predicant. If it were truly her fault, she could accept that she deserved it. But for her, this was indeed an undeserved calamity.

Zhong Niangyao, standing aside, had nothing more to say, as she couldn’t console Zhong ngfan. Even if they didn’t get along, she understood that Zhong ngfan’s fate today was truly undeserved.

Unable to offer comfort, and with their relationship not one where they could talk things out, Zhong Niangyao stayed a while longer before getting up to leave.

At this mont, Zhong ngfan, facing Zhong Niangyao’s departure, had no inclination to ask her to stay. Or rather, she was currently so overwheld by the shock that she had no energy to concern herself with anything else.

Just as Zhong Niangyao left Zhong ngfan’s room, she received a call from Old Master Lu, inviting her to dine at the Lu Residence.

After hanging up the phone, Zhong Niangyao’s eyes flickered, and then she made another call.

In the evening, Zhong Niangyao arrived at the Lu Residence as agreed. However, upon entering, she saw that only Old Master Lu and Old Madam Lu were present.

Seeing the empty space, Zhong Niangyao raised an eyebrow but said nothing, naturally greeting Old Master Lu and Old Madam Lu.

Old Master Lu, as always, responded warmly.

As for Old Madam Lu, she responded too, though as ever, in a cool manner.

Zhong Niangyao was no stranger to this and continued to chat pleasantly with Old Master Lu.

Soon, Old Madam Lu found an excuse to leave the living room, leaving only Old Master Lu and Zhong Niangyao.

Zhong Niangyao acted as if she hadn’t noticed anything amiss, continuing her conversation with Old Master Lu.

After so small talk, Old Master Lu suddenly spoke up, “Nianyao, you and Yichen have been engaged for such a long ti now, do you have any plans?”

“Yes!” Zhong Niangyao nodded and smiled, “We plan to get married.”

Upon hearing Zhong Niangyao’s forthright answer, Old Master Lu was montarily taken aback before smiling and saying, “Then that’s truly wonderful news. Yichen isn’t getting any younger; I’ve been eager for him to settle down. To see your wedding in my lifeti will be more than satisfying.”

Zhong Niangyao sat quietly, observing Old Master Lu but said nothing.

Had Lu Yichen not told her, she could never have guessed that the Old Master Lu before her was such a ruthless man, responsible for Lu Yichen’s family’s demise.

Before her, Old Master Lu seed earnestly to be a father working in his son’s best interests!

Seeing that Zhong Niangyao hadn’t spoken, Old Master Lu shifted the topic abruptly, “Nianyao, actually, I called you here today because there’s sothing I need your help with.”

“Oh, what is it?” Zhong Niangyao was straightforward, “Uncle, whatever you need help with, just tell directly!”

As for whether she would help or not, that would be another matter.

Old Master Lu had been waiting for Zhong Niangyao to say she would do her utmost to help, regardless of the situation.

However, he watched Zhong Niangyao, and her next words didn’t co. The living room fell into silence.

In the midst of this quiet atmosphere, Zhong Niangyao was completely at ease, her expression unchanged, still smiling, yet she said nothing more.

Old Master Lu, not having received the response he was waiting for from Zhong Niangyao, felt especially awkward.

After clearing his throat, he had no choice but to continue, “Nianyao, Yichen is very stubborn, as I’m sure you’re aware.”

“So misunderstandings have occurred between us, causing him to be very angry with . He won’t forgive , nor will he even listen to anything I have to say. So—”

At this point, he looked up at Zhong Niangyao and continued, “Nianyao, you hold the highest place in Yichen’s heart. Therefore, I hope you could speak on my behalf, help him to forgive .”

“Uncle, what exactly happened between you and Yichen?” Zhong Niangyao didn’t imdiately agree to Old Master Lu’s request but smiled and asked, “If I’m to go to Yichen, I should at least know what happened between you two. Otherwise, I’ll be going in blind, and I won’t know what I should and shouldn’t say.”

After hearing Zhong Niangyao’s response, Old Master Lu paused for a mont, and then smiled, “It’s just a small issue, actually, quite trivial when spoken of. Nianyao, just have a good talk with Yichen, he will surely listen to you.”
