Chapter 718: 718
“Let’s use mine,” Zhong Jinghao spoke with a calm face, as if discussing a trivial matter, “I’m still young. Even if I lose so vitality, it won’t be too much of a problem.”
“No,” Zheng Silin imdiately retorted, “Jing Hao, you’re still young, and you have a long future ahead of you. Listen to , this ti we’ll use your dad’s and my vitality to save ng Fan.”
“Mom, you—” Zhong Jinghao had barely started speaking when he was interrupted by Zhong Minghao.
“This is decided,” Zhong Minghao declared the final decision. “It’s your mom’s and my decision. If you’re a filial child, then don’t say anything else.”
“Jing Hao, stop talking.”
At that mont, Old Sir Zhong also joined the conversation, “I know you don’t want your parents to be in danger. But the one at risk now is ng Fan, their daughter. Now, saving ng Fan is also their responsibility as parents.”
In the end, Zhong Jinghao had no choice but to agree.
Once the decision was finalized, they planned to extract the vitality from Zhong Minghao and Zheng Silin in three days and transfer it into Zhong ngfan’s body.
After the matter was settled, everyone began to leave. Only Zhong Niangyao stayed behind, claiming she needed to help stabilize ng Fan’s soul.
When the room was empty, Zhong Niangyao slowly approached the bedside and then spoke in a teasing tone, “Since you’re already awake, why not get up and talk?”
At that mont, the person on the bed slowly opened their eyes.
Zhong ngfan’s gaze was clear; she didn’t appear like soone who had just woken up.
Zhong Niangyao said nothing, simply pulling a chair to the bedside and sitting down. She had already noticed that ng Fan had woken up earlier but didn’t bring it up.
“You knew I was awake a long ti ago,” ng Fan frowned. “Then why didn’t you expose ?”
“Why should I expose you?” Zhong Niangyao shrugged her shoulders. “Whether you’re awake or not doesn’t really matter to . Plus, you also want to see how your parents would react, don’t you?”
“How did you know?”
As the words left her mouth, ng Fan realized she had misspoken and quickly tried to redy, “I didn’t an anything by it, I just… just…”
She stuttered, unable to articulate her reasoning.
“You just wanted to see your parents’ and brother’s response, to see if they still love you.” Niangyao directly voiced ng Fan’s inner thoughts. “So, how about it? Are you satisfied with what you heard?”
Hearing Niangyao reveal her thoughts, ng Fan did not fly into a rage. With her head bowed and muttering to herself, she said, “I thought… they had decided not to care about anymore.”
“Before, didn’t you always say that in your parents’ and brother’s hearts, the imposter was more important?” Niangyao raised an eyebrow, continuing, “When faced with your danger, they’d still step forward without hesitation. Even though you’ve done many things that upset them, they still love you.”
ng Fan’s eyes reddened, and tears she could no longer hold back began to stream down. Even as she cried, she bit her lip tightly, daring not to make a sound, afraid of alerting others.
Watching ng Fan weep, Niangyao said nothing, just silently observed.
She wouldn’t bother getting involved, let alone offering comfort to ng Fan. Their relationship could hardly be described as good; it was even antagonistic.
The only reason Niangyao was willing to help save ng Fan was because of Old Master Zhong and Old Madam Zhong. Even if they were disappointed in ng Fan, they would still be heartbroken if sothing happened to her.
It was unclear how much ti passed before ng Fan stopped crying.
Now ng Fan’s eyes were red-rimd, her face tinged with the flush of tears, lips drained of color, looking frail and weak.
This frail appearance, coupled with natural beauty—although not as stunning as Niangyao—made her an undeniably lovely image of a fragile beauty.
If outsiders were to see her now, they would surely feel a pang of pity.
Unfortunately for her, the person before her was Niangyao, who was always at odds with her and thus unlikely to exhibit any such emotion.
ng Fan held no expectations of Niangyao feeling sympathy. After wiping away the tears with a tissue and looking up at Niangyao, she asked, “Tell , if my parents give their vitality, will it cause them any trouble?”
While the lack of vitality would lead to her death, if her parents suffered as a consequence of saving her, she would never forgive herself.
Niangyao shrugged, indifferent. “Don’t know; it depends on the individual’s physical condition. I can’t answer your question right now.”
ng Fan was clearly unhappy with that response, “Niangyao, are you deliberately keeping in the dark?”
“Why would I conceal anything from you!” Niangyao scoffed. “The process of saving soone hasn’t begun yet; who could know what the consequences will be! I can only assure you there will be no threat to their lives. As for the rest, who can guarantee anything!”
ng Fan was dissatisfied and about to retort, but Niangyao cut her off.
“ng Fan, you’re aware of your own physical condition,” Niangyao said, showing signs of impatience, “Even sitting here, you must feel it’s draining most of your energy. Once your vitality is exhausted, then it will truly be beyond redemption.”
After listening to Niangyao, ng Fan fell silent.
“Alright, you don’t need to do anything now, just take good care of yourself. As for your parents, if you truly feel guilty, then repay them with filial piety in the future and stop doing things that upset them.”
With that, Niangyao stood up and walked towards the door.
After leaving the room and closing the door, she cast a deep glance back at the door, as if she could see the person inside through it.
ng Fan’s dilemma had indeed taken her by surprise. She had assud that knowing her life was at critical risk, ng Fan would have wanted to receive her parents’ vitality sooner rather than later. Yet, she was actually worried about her parents possibly being hard, and that hesitation was unexpected.
