Chapter 693: Chapter 693: Loosen Up

“Of course it’s true!” Lu Yichen chuckled, stretching out his hand to gently flick Zhong Niangyao’s forehead. “Don’t overthink it. Once everything here is settled, we’ll go back. By then, you’ll know everything.”

Despite still being full of doubts, Zhong Niangyao did not probe any further.

She had seen that Lu Yichen did not want to talk at this mont. Even if she continued to ask, Lu Yichen would not give her any answers.

“Okay!”

Zhong Niangyao nodded at Lu Yichen. “Since you don’t want to speak now, I won’t keep asking. But you must promise that once we return to the Divine World, you’ll tell everything I want to know.”

Lu Yichen nodded, assuring her, “I promise you.”

Having received Lu Yichen’s assurance, Zhong Niangyao stopped pressing the matter. They continued their walk in the garden, chatting about all sorts of things, smiles ever-present on their faces.

The scene looked warm and sweet.

The servants nearby, witnessing this mont, couldn’t help but smile understandingly. Among them were so young girls who, after seeing such a sight, longed for a sweet romance of their own.

“Nianyao.”

A voice broke the sweet atmosphere. As the voice sounded, a figure quickly approached Zhong Niangyao. It was none other than Baili Hengyuan.

Seeing the newcor, Zhong Niangyao greeted with a smile, “Grandfather.”

“Nianyao, you’ve finally co back!” Baili Hengyuan looked at Zhong Niangyao with eyes full of affection. “Are you alright? Did you get hurt?”

“Grandfather, I’m fine.”

Feeling the genuine concern from Baili Hengyuan, Zhong Niangyao shook her head with a smile. “The trip went smoothly. It was just delayed a bit due to so unexpected events.”

They hadn’t spent much ti in Lai Country, but ti flowed differently between the two places. So, in this world, they had been gone for over a month to find soone.

Hearing Zhong Niangyao’s words and seeing her radiant appearance, Baili Hengyuan breathed a sigh of relief. However, on looking into her eyes again, he sensed sothing amiss. “Nianyao, why do I feel like you’ve changed quite a lot?”

It wasn’t his imagination; the change was real.

In just over a month’s ti, Zhong Niangyao’s facial features hadn’t altered, but the aura around her had transford radically.

She was still a young girl, yet an ethereal quality enveloped her, faintly exuding a sense of profound history. Especially those eyes—they seed capable of seeing through the deepest secrets of a person’s heart.

“Is that so?” Zhong Niangyao tilted her head with a smile, then said, “I haven’t really felt any difference. Maybe it’s because I’ve been through so much and have started to grow up and understand more.”

Baili Hengyuan frowned, his doubts clearly not resolved. Yet, seeing that Zhong Niangyao had no intention of elaborating, he did not press further.

He knew his place well. Although he was Zhong Niangyao’s grandfather and they were blood-related, they had never truly lived together, sharing minimal emotional bonds. Therefore, his concern for Zhong Niangyao had to be restrained.

Crossing the line would only dissipate the scant affection they had.

“By the way,” Baili Hengyuan suddenly spoke up, “Nianyao, I heard that when you ca back, you brought soone with you, that is—”

Zhong Niangyao had gone on this trip to find soone, so it was obvious who she brought back. Even though he could guess, he still asked.

Zhong Niangyao nodded without beating around the bush and replied directly, “That is indeed my dad! I just took him to Mom’s room earlier. What they are doing now, I don’t know.”

With Zhong Niangyao’s confirmation, Baili Hengyuan’s heart eased, “That’s good, that’s good.”

Once, he had been strongly opposed to Zhong Mingxin and Le Yao being together. He felt that Zhong Mingxin, being an ordinary person, was not worthy of his daughter.

When Zhong Mingxin suddenly appeared, claiming he was going to find the Snow Spirit Flower for Le Yao, Baili Hengyuan had been moved. Still, at that ti, all his thoughts were on his comatose daughter, and he didn’t yet know Yi Huai’s true nature. Thus, he favored Yi Huai for Le Yao.

Later, after Yi Huai returned with the Snow Spirit Flower and Zhong Mingxin disappeared, he felt guilty upon hearing the news.

Now that he heard Zhong Mingxin was back, the weight that had been on his heart finally vanished.

Having gone through so much, he had long let go. As for the matter between Zhong Mingxin and Le Yao, he no longer intended to dwell.

Surprised by Baili Hengyuan’s serene reaction, Zhong Niangyao said nothing.

Regardless, Baili Hengyuan’s willingness to relent was good news for both Zhong Mingxin and Baili Lele.

After a while, Baili Hengyuan, with a sowhat peculiar expression, said to Zhong Niangyao, “Nianyao, tonight… let’s have your father join us for dinner.”

Zhong Niangyao was surprised by Baili Hengyuan’s decision but still nodded, “Okay, I’ll go tell them in a bit.”

She thought Baili Hengyuan had just softened up, and that Zhong Mingxin still had a long way to go! Now, judging from Baili Hengyuan’s attitude, the matter between Zhong Mingxin and Baili Lele seed likely to be settled soon.

After exchanging a few more words with Zhong Niangyao, Baili Hengyuan turned and left.

He also instructed others not to disturb Zhong Mingxin and Baili Lele, allowing the lovers, separated for so long, to talk and share the yearnings they had harbored for each other over the years.

Once Baili Hengyuan had left, Zhong Niangyao couldn’t help but remark, “Wow, this change really is rapid and significant! It seems that Zhong Mingxin is quite lucky! He’s just returned, and the thorniest issue has already been resolved.”

“In the face of life and death, nothing else matters,” Lu Yichen said. “After experiencing Baili Lele’s close brush with death, there are many things a father like Baili Hengyuan can let go of.”

“And on top of that, Yi Huai’s affair probably made an impression on him!”
