Chapter 421: Chapter 421: Casual Family Talk Chapter 421: Chapter 421: Casual Family Talk Upon hearing Zhong ngxuan’s words, there was no change in Zhong ngfan’s smile, “Yes! The child is very cute, and dad, mom, and my older brother all like this child.”

Clearly, Zhong ngxuan was not satisfied with Zhong ngfan’s composure. A gloomy shadow flickered in her eyes before she spoke, “Yes! That’s a good child, it’s just a pity he doesn’t have better parents! There’s no need to ntion what kind of man his biological father is, and his biological mother has abandoned him too. How truly pitiable!”

The reason she brought up this child was to mock Zhong ngfan. The child was fathered by Zhong ngfan with a petty hoodlum. She couldn’t understand what Zhong ngfan had been thinking back then to actually fall for a petty hoodlum; she really had no brains.

Unexpectedly, Zhong ngfan didn’t avoid ntioning this child; she just couldn’t believe that the opponent genuinely didn’t care at all!

To Zhong ngxuan’s surprise, Zhong ngfan’s face remained unchanged but the words she spoke carried a hint of threat, “ngxuan, what are you talking about! The parents of this child are my dad and mom. Have you forgotten what grandpa once said?”

“If grandpa knew you were spouting nonsense here, randomly fabricating stories about the child’s origins, he would probably get angry again.”

At this point, she couldn’t help but sigh, “ngxuan, you’re not a child anymore, how can you still speak so recklessly! It’s fortunate that I’m the one who heard it now. If it were overheard by outsiders, and they started spreading rumors, it could damage the reputation of our Zhong Family, and grandpa might actually punish you.”

With these serious yet belittling remarks, Zhong ngxuan’s face changed color again and again, but she dared not use the child as a point of contention any longer.

She wasn’t afraid of Zhong ngfan, but she was wary of grandpa’s side. She now wanted to nd her relationship with the family, so she definitely couldn’t afford to anger grandpa again.

However, she was not going to make it easy for Zhong ngfan, so she shifted the conversation while still targeting Zhong ngfan.

“Zhong ngfan, speaking of which, you’ve been back for a while now.” Zhong ngxuan’s face carried a fake smile, “After coming back, have you contacted any of your old friends? Especially those close ‘friends’ you used to hang out with so intimately!”

No matter how much Zhong ngfan denied it, she couldn’t change the fact that she had once been involved with a petty hoodlum. This would forever be a blemish in Zhong ngfan’s life.

A shadow quickly passed through Zhong ngfan’s eyes, but her expression remained unchanged, “I have reconnected with so old friends. However, after going through so much, I’ve co to realize that there are so ties from the past that should be decisively cut without hesitation. After all, not all friendships are worthwhile.”

Zhong ngfan did not specify, and naturally, Zhong ngxuan could not expose it.

However, looking at the current Zhong ngfan, she felt an unreal sensation. In the past, she always thought Zhong ngfan was a brainless, easily ignited powder keg. But now, Zhong ngfan had completely changed. She had uttered so many unpleasant words, yet to this point, Zhong ngfan’s expression hadn’t shifted in the slightest.

This version of Zhong ngfan made her feel extrely alien and caused her heart to race with fear.

Seeing that Zhong ngxuan remained silent, Zhong ngfan’s gaze shifted past her, landing on Zhong Niangyao’s door, then she smiled and spoke with a note of envy, “To really speak of it, among us sisters, the most impressive is Nianyao.”

The words had barely left her mouth before Zhong ngxuan instinctively retorted, “What nonsense are you spouting? What’s so impressive about Zhong Niangyao? She’s just been misbehaving under the indulgence of Grandpa and Grandma. If she really had any brains, she wouldn’t have followed Li Jingming around like a clingy plaster in the past.”

“That was in the past,” Zhong ngfan continued, “Now, Nianyao is quite impressive. Even the Third Young Master Lu has fallen under her sway, and the families of both sides are about to et. I imagine that Nianyao will soon marry rightfully into the Lu Family and beco the Third Lady of the Lu Family.”

For so reason, Zhong ngxuan felt that the words from Zhong ngfan were extraordinarily grating, especially when she heard the phrase “marry rightfully,” which made her feel unsettled at heart.

They were both involved romantically with mbers of the Lu Family, yet she had chosen the most promising direct descendant, whereas Zhong Niangyao had chosen soone who was nothing more than a sickly burden.

But now, Zhong Niangyao was about to marry into the Lu Family. Moreover, from Lu Chenran’s words, she knew that the Third Master Lu wasn’t as bad as the rumors suggested, and even had an unknown power that nobody else was aware of.

Yet, in stark contrast, she had exerted so much effort to now end up as a clandestine lover. And now, Lu Chenran had another woman. Even more disturbingly, she had discovered a harsh reality: in Lu Chenran’s eyes, she was rely a plaything.

This vast disparity unleashed a torrent of jealousy within her, which she found impossible to suppress.

Unseen by Zhong ngxuan, a peculiar glint flickered in Zhong ngfan’s eyes.

“It’s getting late, ngxuan, do you want to rest a bit now, or are you going to get your makeup done right away?”

As if the earlier sigh was rely a spur-of-the-mont sentint, Zhong ngfan changed the subject, “There will be many guests coming tonight; it’s best to get ready early.”

As she spoke, as if sothing just occurred to her, she continued with a smile, “The Third Young Master Lu is likely to co tonight too. He holds Nianyao in such high regard. On such a day as Grandpa’s birthday, he surely won’t miss it.”

“After tonight, Nianyao and the Third Young Master Lu’s affair will probably be widely known. By then, surely everyone will envy Nianyao.”

“Zhong ngfan, what exactly are you trying to say?” Zhong ngxuan appeared sowhat agitated, her tone filled with impatience, “Are you trying to tell just how well Zhong Niangyao is doing?”

“ngxuan, what’s gotten into you?” Zhong ngfan looked utterly bewildered, filled with puzzlent, “I was just making casual conversation with you, not intending to imply anything special! Also, I am genuinely grateful to Nianyao. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be working at Zhong Group now.”

“What? You are working at Zhong Group now?” Zhong ngxuan’s eyes widened as she looked at Zhong ngfan, her face full of envy, “Zhong ngfan, what right do you have? Why are you qualified to work at Zhong Group? How could Grandpa possibly agree to such nonsense? What exactly did you do?”
