“Oh, so you’re determined to make a bet with ?” Zhong Nianyao looked at Chen Lianlian and Shen Yixue with a smile that was not quite a smile, “I just don’t know whether you can handle the consequences of this bet.”
“Zhong Nianyao, it’s you who’s scared now!” Chen Lianlian had a smug look on her face, “Now, the one making excuses is you. You’re just a coward, afraid that you can’t do it!”
“Alright!” Zhong Nianyao nodded and spoke with a smile, “I can accept the bet, but I get to decide what the wager is.”
“Why should you get to decide?” Chen Lianlian protested, “Since it’s a bet, why does it have to be up to you alone to decide what’s at stake?”
“Because right now, you are the ones asking to bet!” Zhong Nianyao raised an eyebrow and spoke with amusent, “Given that, of course, I should determine the stakes! After all, if the stakes don’t suit , I certainly won’t agree to the bet.”
“You—” Chen Lianlian was at a loss for words, unable to co up with any rebuttal.
“Lianlian, maybe we should just forget it.” Shen Yixue, standing beside her, shook her head and attempted to dissuade her, “Why force soone against their will like this? If Nianyao doesn’t want to, we can’t demand it. Besides, grades are sothing that need to be built up over ti. Proposing a bet like this is really unfair to Nianyao in the first place.”
Hearing Shen Yixue’s words enlightened Chen Lianlian, clearing her mind instantly.
Yes! With Zhong Nianyao’s poor grades, she’s bound to lose no matter how you look at it. With that being the case, does it really matter what the wager is?
“Zhong Nianyao, you decide the stakes.”
“Lianlian.” Shen Yixue grabbed Chen Lianlian’s hand, continuing to advise her, “Don’t be so impulsive, this matter—”

“Yes!” Zhong Nianyao nodded, “Then it will all co down to whether I can get into the top ten of our departnt at the end of the term. If I don’t make it into the top ten, just like you said, I’ll turn around and walk away whenever I see Zhao Xuanglang.”
“Deal, it’s a promise.”
Before Zhong Nianyao could finish speaking, Chen Lianlian eagerly interrupted, “Zhong Nianyao, you must do as you say.”
“Hold on a mont!” Zhong Nianyao shook her head, speaking with a smirk, “If I do make it into the top ten, then you’re the one who’s lost. When that happens, I want you and Shen Yixue to kneel and apologize to in front of everyone during the school assembly.”
At that ti, both of them would probably want to avoid her! The thought made the idea feel like quite a good one indeed!
“Fine, we agree,” Chen Lianlian hurriedly promised.
“Wait.” Shen Yixue couldn’t hold back any longer and spoke up anxiously, “This bet is between you two, why drag into it?”
Although she was sure Zhong Nianyao wouldn’t win, she didn’t want to get involved. Especially as the bet involved kneeling in front of everyone at school to apologize to Zhong Nianyao, it was sothing she could never agree to. She wanted to see Zhong Nianyao embarrassed, but she didn’t want people to laugh at her.
“Then let’s forget it.” Zhong Nianyao shrugged indifferently, “If we can’t reach a consensus, the bet is off.”
With that, Zhong Nianyao turned to leave.

“I haven’t gone back on my word!” Zhong Nianyao spoke with a laugh, “Didn’t Shen Yixue just refuse? Since she’s unwilling, then of course, we’ll drop it!”
“This bet is between you and , what does it have to do with her?” Chen Lianlian imdiately retorted, “Besides, just now, I already agreed to kneel and apologize to you!”
“But, I don’t want to make a bet just with you!” Zhong Nianyao raised an eyebrow and continued, “Since both of you are here, let’s all make the bet then! Of course, if Shen Yixue, your good friend, isn’t willing to share the good tis and the bad with you, then I can’t force her.”
Imdiately, Chen Lianlian’s gaze fell on Shen Yixue, filled with a hint of doubt.
Just now, indeed, she had thought that she shouldn’t drag Shen Yixue into this. After all, it was her own decision to make the bet with Zhong Nianyao in the first place. There was no need for an outsider like Shen Yixue to do anything.
