She proceeded cautiously, fearful of disturbing Old Sir Zhong and Old Madam Zhong.
Yet, to her surprise, as soon as she stepped through the door, she saw Old Sir Zhong waiting for her in the living room. For a mont, she actually felt a bit guilty.
“Hehe, Grandpa, you haven’t gone to bed yet!” exclaid Zhong Niangyao with a playful laugh. Approaching Old Sir Zhong, she cooed, “Staying up so late, you’ll certainly et your old friends tomorrow with huge dark circles under your eyes. They’ll surely laugh at you.”
“Stop being flippant,” Old Sir Zhong said sternly, his face tight, “You know it’s very late. So why have you only just co ho?”
“Grandpa, today was an unusual situation!” Zhong Niangyao said, still smiling, “You know, I was assisting with a paranormal event! Ghosts don’t exactly appear in broad daylight!”
“What exactly happened today? Explain everything to in detail,” Old Sir remained stern, “and don’t think about bluffing your way through.”
“Grandpa, it’s also quite late now,” Zhong Niangyao glanced at the ti, “and, well, it’s a long story. Maybe—”
Before she could finish, Old Sir Zhong interrupted her, “Then make the long story short. If you don’t explain things clearly tonight, we’ll just keep at it here.”
Seeing Old Sir Zhong’s resolute expression, Zhong Niangyao had no choice but to narrate the events of the day. However, she obviously didn’t confess everything, just gave a brief account, omitting many details. She especially skipped over the dangerous aspects of the evil ghost.

“Not at all, Grandpa,” Zhong Niangyao pointed at her own eyes, “Look into my eyes and see the sincerity. I’m a good kid, why would I deceive you?”
Watching Zhong Niangyao’s deanor, Old Sir Zhong sighed again, “Yaoyao, I don’t know what you are really thinking. But, I hope you think of your grandma and before doing anything. We don’t ask for you to be very successful, just want you to be safe.”
“Your father has been missing for so many years now. If sothing were to happen to you, how could we bear it?”
At Old Sir Zhong’s words, Zhong Niangyao was montarily stunned, touched by what he said, and eventually responded, “Grandpa, I understand. Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to myself.”
anwhile, Black Impermanence had already escorted the evil ghost back to hell, reporting everything to King Yan.
King Yan beca furious and imdiately ordered a thorough investigation of the matter. Furthermore, the evil ghost was to endure the tortures of every level of hell before being allowed to reincarnate.

After this incident, Zhong Niangyao’s life returned to its peaceful routine.

At the academy, everyone was preparing for the final exams.
Of course, the most diligent were the specially recruited students, particularly those admitted for their excellent grades, as the results of the final exams would determine their scholarships. But now, seeing them chatting and laughing together, it was almost as if they had returned to their forrly close relationship. Was this due to the charm of Shen Yixue, or was there so other reason?
Regardless of the reason, it no longer had much to do with her.
