Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Assisting the Investigation

Listening to Han Xin’s words, Old Sir Zhong’s brows did not relax; they furrowed even tighter, “Captain Han, our Yaoyao is still a child and can’t provide any assistance to you!”

“Old Sir Zhong,” Luo Yong at his side grew sowhat anxious, “right now, the only person that can help our police force is Miss Zhong Niangyao. This case has already seen several people dead, only Lady Zhong—”

“Given that this is such a dangerous case, then all the more reason not to involve our Yaoyao.” Old Sir Zhong’s expression turned stern, “She is still a student and cannot help you with anything!”

“Old Sir Zhong, this case is truly important!” Luo Yong also beca sowhat distressed, “You can’t, for your own private reasons, put so many people at risk! If we don’t catch the murderer soon, there’s no telling how many more will die! How can you remain indifferent?”

“Luo Yong, shut up!” Han Xin at his side quickly interjected to stop him.

At the sa ti, he noticed the darkening expressions of both Old Sir Zhong and Zhong Niangyao.

Old Sir Zhong didn’t even glance at Luo Yong; he turned directly to Han Xin, “Captain Han, I’ll ask you now, has my granddaughter violated the law? What is the purpose of your visit today, to request her assistance with the investigation, or to make an arrest?”

Although he was not yet clear on what was happening, he could tell that the two officers visiting today likely wanted his granddaughter’s help.

If it were the past, he would definitely have been suspicious that the other party was deceptive. But now, his granddaughter was different from before, and such matters seed more acceptable.

However, he still didn’t want his granddaughter to beco involved in such things; it was too dangerous.

Moreover, the attitude of this officer was simply too poor, as if his granddaughter was obliged to help them. This presumptuous deanor repulsed him even more.

With these words, Han Xin knew things had taken a turn for the worse; he quickly spoke up, “Old Sir Zhong, it’s my colleague’s way of speaking that’s at fault; there was no other intention. It’s just that the nature of this case is exceedingly vile.”

Having said that, he didn’t hesitate and began laying out the details of the case.

As it turned out, there had been several murders around Huanshan Road recently.

The victims were diverse, n and won, of varied ages. These victims shared no commonalities, but each had been tortured to death. It was evident that they suffered imnsely before they died.

The perpetrator was very cunning, leaving behind no evidence. This was causing the police a great headache since they had no direction for the investigation.

But, just a few days ago, a survivor had appeared. Like the previous victims, this survivor had been tortured but managed to live. It was only because he sustained a head injury that he had been comatose for the past few days.

When the police received this news, they were excited. With a survivor, they could gain more information. Maybe the victim had seen the murderer, which would make things much easier.

Their analysis suggested that the murderer might not have finished off this victim due to so unforeseen circumstances.

However, when the victim woke up, they realized the situation wasn’t so simple. In fact, with the victim’s account, their views on life were intensely challenged.

After awakening, the victim was constantly screaming about a ghost. Initially, they thought the victim was in a state of ntal derangent from the shock.

But, as the victim eventually cald down, he still insisted on his claim. They had already sought psychiatric evaluation to assist.

Although the victim’s claims were bizarre, his ntal logic was coherent and showed no signs of delusion.

The survivor recounted that he was hunted by an Evil Ghost. The reason he had escaped death was that a young girl had given him a peace charm.

At the critical mont, a flash of golden light suddenly appeared, the Evil Ghost fled, and he survived. But he was seriously injured and lost a lot of blood, which led to his collapse.

In the end, they had to accept the fact that this case involved supernatural events.

Now they had reported the case, hoping that the higher authorities would send experts to deal with it. However, this would take ti.

Fearing more victims during this period, they investigated the young girl described by the survivor.

Afterward, they discovered that she was none other than the granddaughter of the affluent Zhong Family of the Imperial Capital. Yet, what surprised them most was not her wealthy family status but her reputation at Tongtian Bridge.

Although they were uncertain whether such a young girl truly possessed any skills, the urgency of the matter forced them to seek her help as a last resort.

After hearing Han Xin’s account, Zhong Niangyao understood, “Are you talking about that taxi driver?”

If she had to say whether she had saved soone unworthy during this ti, it would only be that kind-hearted driver.

The driver was dood to die that night, but upon hearing the driver suddenly speak of his daughter’s blissful state while facing her university entrance exams, she couldn’t bear it and gave him a piece of talisman paper.

Whether the talisman paper could save the driver’s life was sothing she was unclear about. After all, everyone’s fate is predetermined, and she was rely a mortal, with no power to defy the Heavenly Dao. She had only done her best, if only for that high school girl.

It seed now that the driver had indeed survived.

“Yes, it’s that driver,” Luo Yong hastily chid in, “After he woke up, he said it was you who saved him.”

Old Master Zhong pursed his lips tightly, his brows furrowed in concern and did not speak. Clearly, understanding the situation had dissipated so of the anger in his chest.

Nevertheless, it was still apparent that he disapproved of Zhong Niangyao getting involved in the case. Because the case was simply too dangerous, especially with so many dead.

Even though he now knew of his granddaughter’s abilities, he still didn’t want her to take such a risk.

“Lady Zhong, our visit this ti is to request your assistance with the investigation,” Han Xin spoke earnestly, “Regarding these supernatural events, we ordinary people are truly helpless. The higher-ups have not sent anyone yet, and we are currently at a loss. Moreover, we are concerned about the potential of new victims erging.”
