Chapter 350: The Sun Clan
Raine had a wide smile on her face the mont she opened her eyes and saw Nathan beside her. He was cuddling her in his warm embrace, and it felt so good just being beside him.
"Am I too handso?" Nathan murmured, his stretched lips as he opened his eyes.
"Indeed," Raine answered with a giggle. "You have a long day ahead of you while I’m on vacation."
Nathan had a lot of work piling up for him in managing their Clan, and not to ntion the Yue group family business that was also rightfully his. She had already arranged everything and had it all transferred to Nathan of course, letting her put off all responsibility since it was technically no longer her problem.
"It’s so nice to procrastinate," Raine mumbled as she nudged his face directly into his chest.
"Right, I’ll let my wife do what she wants," Nathan murmured with a yawn. "I guess I need to get up now and get ready for the day ahead."
"You can go on ahead and do your thing," Raine murmured. "I’ll follow you shortly."
She absently watched as Nathan got up from bed naked. Well... they were used to sleeping naked nowadays, so it wasn’t really a big deal...
She closed her eyes, still smiling as she thought about everything that had happened. Everything felt so good now, and things were all falling into their rightful place.
After all these years, she finally managed to experience a worry-free life for once. Although, she was still aware that it wouldn’t last since she still had responsibilities as a hunter and in managing her squad even if she won’t be doing any fieldwork.
While she was still in her bed, her mobile phone rang, and she imdiately frowned upon seeing that it wasn’t soone that she ever expected to call her.
"Hello?"
"Raine?" the familiar voice asked.
"Yes?" she answered, matching the unenthused tone she was just given
"It’s , Chad."
"I know, Chad..." she sighed. "What is it?"
"I need help," he directly stated. "We’ve been trying to locate Gavin Wu, but we still can’t find him."
Well, Chad certainly didn’t beat around the bush. Raine rolled her eyes... She wasn’t even that close to this Chad, having only t once while she was disguised as Candice Yao on Pluria Island to protect Yera Han.
Still, knowing that Chad was currently protecting her sister Mara in the shadows, she guessed that the two of them should start becoming close enough sooner or later.
"Why are you even handling that situation? Aren’t you busy enough with the upcoming election?" Raine questioned with a frown on her face as she got up from bed. "Can’t the Mirage Council assign it to the Sun Clan instead?" She then added, "You do know that I’m on leave, right? I’m pregnant, so I’ll just procrastinate more often than not at this rate..."
"Yes, I know," he sighed. "I’m sorry, but the Sun Clan is in an uproar right now. King Arthur is dying, and his daughter Luna is still young... Well, not that young, but apparently, her upbringing is a bit... Uhm, how do I say this..."
"She’s naive and stupid?" Raine snorted as she completed his sentence for him.
Well, that was what she had heard about the Princess of Sun Clan back in the day. Luna’s father had apparently spoiled her so much that the girl grew up knowing practically nothing about how cruel the world could be. It was no wonder then that the poor girl knew nothing except to eat, sleep, and spend money.
"Gavin Wu... What if he’s really dead?" Raine mumbled.
"But Carlos insisted that we find him," Chad murmured. "And personally I think he could feel him..."
Gavin Wu was supposed to be the one to succeed Carlos as the Mirage Historian, but unfortunately, according to the news, the man had already died on a sunken passenger ship.
"Fine, I’ll talk to Carlos and mobilize my n. I’ll ask him what’s going on," Raine sighed. "Maybe there could be another successor out there to replace him anyway. Let
get back to you about this so ti in the future... I’ll be hanging up now..."
"Wait!"
Raine lifted an eyebrow, a bout of silence passing and she heard Chad clearing his throat. "Are you going to et with her?" he asked. "Will you tell her everything about the Mirage?"
She smirked, knowing that Chad was asking her about her twin Mara. "Hmm... Well, I’ll surely et her soday, but I still haven’t decided on whether or not I should tell her about the Sun Clan and the Mirage," she truthfully stated.
"You said the Sun Clan is in an uproar right now, so I really don’t think I want her to get entangled with that right now. I told the sa to uncle Arthur as well... I really don’t know yet, Chad..."
"Hmm... Alright. I understand," Chad audibly nodded, to which Raine ended the call without a second thought.
Placing her phone down, she let out a long deep sigh. Her uncle by blood, Lark’s brother, who was currently the King of the Sun Clan had already approached her before since she was a successor by birthright to rule the Sun Clan on behalf of her father, who was obviously unfit to rule due to being cursed to be devoid of any emotions. And apparently, King Arthur’s daughter Luna was also unfit for the job... They were left her to take on the role, but she strongly refused to take on such a job.
Damn, she had just finished a rollercoaster ride of power struggles and problems. Was it too bad for her to want a bit of rest from it all? She was sure that her uncle would manage to fix everything inside the Sun Clan before he died anyway. Then again, the poor old man’s health was deteriorating at a considerable rate...
Nathan had just finished showering and clothing himself when he erged from the shower room. He was still brushing his hair when Raine stared at him and asked, "Can’t Davin just turn Uncle Arthur? He’s a good man, so it wouldn’t be a waste to make him immortal."
"First off, cover yourself up, darling. Your nakedness is blinding," Nathan chuckled as he turned to her. "I might end up being naked again instead of going back to the pile of work I must have in my office by now..."
Raine laughed as she promptly covered herself up with the nearest bedsheet available. With a shrug, she said, "But I’m serious. I really don’t want to rule the Sun Clan, but I also don’t want to ignore them since it’s my father’s clan."
Hearing her dilemma, Nathan walked towards her and sat bedside beside her. "Davin refuses to turn any human into sothing like him, darling. He’s made a solid vow about it, so he wouldn’t be doing sothing like that any ti soon," he explained. "Besides, don’t worry about it. I’m also monitoring the situation. Hmm... Davin has actually received an offer to manage the Sun Clan..."
Knitting her brows together, she asked, "What do you an?"
"An arranged marriage between him and Princess Luna... That was what Davin said, and he accepted it to help stabilize the Sun Clan while Luna is still preparing to take over once she’s ready..." Nathan explained with a smile. He then kissed her forehead and said, "Now go and get dressed now, darling. Let’s have breakfast together before I leave, huh? I’ll wait for you in the dining area while I talk with the n..."
