Chapter 329: Call It an Investnt
Waking up in the morning was always a rather tiring affair. Sure, she just woke up, but getting out of bed was always the most difficult thing in the world, especially since Nathan’s warm embrace was preventing her from moving.
Smiling, she couldn’t help but snuggle deeper into his embrace. They had gone at it like rabbits until well into the early morning. Sure, they stopped before they went to the point where they wouldn’t get any sleep, but after all of that effort, she still felt like she could go for more.
"We really shouldn’t though..." she whispered to herself. "We’ve wasted enough ti as it is..."
"Hmm?"
Raine blinked, Nathan’s body moving to embrace her tighter.
"What’s wrong, my sweet vixen?" he asked into her ear.
"It’s nothing," she chuckled. "Just thinking that we’ve wasted enough ti being like this. I still have a mission to do after all."
Nathan got up from bed, pulling her up along with him as he began to properly get ready. "Who’s to say the mission is being jeopardized right now? I’m pretty sure Cali’s still well-protected right now."
Raine narrowed her eyes at her mate even as she followed his lead in getting herself ready. Going into the shower right after he was done, she then dressed herself up before going downstairs with him. Imdiately, she slled sothing good coming from the kitchen.
"Breakfast?" she asked.
"Yep," Nathan nodded as he escorted her down. "I’m sure there’s already a spread waiting for us in the dining room."
Sure enough, that was exactly what Raine saw as she the amount of food on the table. Of course, her father was waiting for them both, clearly having been busy preparing them all breakfast.
"This is..." she trailed off.
"You didn’t think the surprise was over, did you?" Nathan chuckled. "We’ll be going out today, just the three of us."
"H-Huh? You an last night wasn’t the end of it?"
"Nathan had insisted that we go to the nearby park today," her father helpfully supplied as he sat down. "After we eat we’ll be spending ti together as a family."
Raine couldn’t help but feel moved by her father’s words. Family... The words itself already made her feel things that she had only wished she could have back when she was little. This was truly happening... She was going to spend ti with her father and her husband like normal people usually would.
"Raine?"
"Just... give
a mont," she chuckled even as she forced away the tears forming in her eyes. "This is unexpected, even from you, Nathan."
"What do you take
for?" he teasingly scoffed. "I said I was going to do everything for you to forgive . And even if you already did, that doesn’t an that I’ll just cancel prior plans."
Raine pouted. "You just ruined the magic of the mont. You know that, right?"
"But it kept you from crying, right?" Nathan deftly rebutted. "Now sit. We have a long day of hanging out ahead of us."
Her eyes narrowed, Raine did as she was told as she tore through the food in front of her anyway. Still, despite the frown on her face, the joy in her heart made it hard for her to stay mad at her idiot husband for too long.
Really... He was pampering her too much...

"So what was that about Balon not being able to do anyting?"
Raine finally asked the one question she had at Nathan as they sat on the nearest bench by the ice cream truck. They had gone to the park as soon as they were finished with their breakfast, which ant that they had the rest of the day to spend ti with one another as a family. Like she did back when they first arrived, Raine did her best to accomodate her father, while Nathan also did the sa as he strived to be the best husband she could ever have in her whole life.
"Oh, that? What I an by that is that I have a few of my an keeping an eye on things at the mont," he admitted, taking a small lick from his cone before he continued. "There’s just nothing we can do at the mont while he’s in hiding. Besides, from what I’ve gleaned, he’s the type that would keep on stalking his chosen target for a few more days despite having already given his calling card. By my estimates, he’ll strike in about five days at the earliest."
"Or maybe those estimates are wrong and he might strike at any mont," Raine frowned, enjoying her own cone of ice cream beside her mate.
"Even if that happens, we can get there quickly enough once my n notify us if sothing’s happening," Nathan reassured her. "So relax and have a bit of fun. I’m sure that after this, you’ll be back to managing that mission of yours."
"If you insist..."
"Chin up now, my love," Nathan chuckled. "Relax. Look, even your father’s clearly enjoying his ti."
With a scoff, Raine followed his gaze, only to see that her father was indeed enjoying himself. Well, as much as an emotionless man could express his enjoynt at least. Still, based on the way he was staring out into the flower fields, she could tell that there was sothing going on inside her father’s head.
"Say, why do you keep calling him my father?" Raine suddenly asked. "Shouldn’t you just address him like I do?"
"Well, I haven’t gotten to that part with him yet," Nathan excused himself.
"Or maybe you just haven’t asked him yet," Raine scoffed. "Fair enough. I’ll allow it until after the mission ends. If you still call him ’your father’ by then, you’ll have another thing for
to scold you about."
"I’ll do my best then," Nathan chuckled in mirth. "I’m sure you don’t have to punish
again like last ti."
"Last ti, huh," she scoffed. "On second thought, maybe I can have you punish
later, if you know what I an."
"Oh?"
"Call it an investnt," Raine smirked. "That way, I’ll have second thoughts whenever you make
angry."
