Chapter 271: Your Warmth

Raine waited patiently inside Nathan’s room, sighing constantly as that was the only thing she could do while waiting for her mate to arrive. It also didn’t help that a while ago, she could feel that he had mixed emotions brewing inside him, and it made it difficult for her to interpret just what exactly he was feeling. Despite it, however, she knew that a part of him was still mad at her.

Letting out another sigh, she stood up from her seat and walked right out to the balcony. Looking around, she could barely see anything in the vicinity except for the lights in each house illuminating the compound. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, imrsing herself in her surroundings. Taking a small whiff of the air, she smiled when she noticed Nathan’s familiar scent.

"I wonder... Why won’t you shut off your emotions..."

Raine whispered out into the wind, her eyes still closed as she pondered aloud. She was aware that werewolves could put up sothing like a protective wall or a barrier to hide their emotions from their mate. But for so reason, Nathan didn’t bother shutting her off even after all this ti.

"It’s because you did the sa," Nathan answered behind her.

Not bothering to turn around, Raine simply smiled and replied, "Why would I? I did erase your mories of

in your head, knowing how it will affect your rational decision-making. Still, that doesn’t an that I intended you to cut

out of your heart and your life."

There was nothing but a deafening silence between them. A few seconds passed, and Raine suddenly frowned. Reaching out from within her, she could no longer feel Nathan’s emotions. He had finally hidden his feelings from her.

’This brute!’ she annoyingly thought to herself but chose not to voice it out loud. Feeling petty, she did the sa, blocking Nathan from feeling her emotions as well.

Soon enough, he spoke up once more. "What are you thinking, coming in here like that?"

"That’s way too cold a tone to greet your mate with, darling," she murmured with a sly smile.

"Mate? Did you even consider that before erasing my mories?" Nathan deadpanned.

Letting out a small breath, Raine finally turned and looked at him. She raised her hand to touch his face, but Nathan quickly moved, making sure to keep a respectable distance away from her.

"You’re not allowed to touch ," Nathan bluntly stated. "You chose this path. You erased yourself from my mories, so why would I let you bring them back whenever you want?"

"Oh..."

"I asked Aunt Sanya to prepare a room for you," he emotionlessly relayed. "Use it for the night, and head back to the Moon Clan tomorrow morning."

If she was affected by his cold tone, Raine managed to not show anything as she declared her intent. "I don’t want to return. I want to stay here with you." She placed a hand on her chest as she made her case. "If you don’t want

to touch you, then I won’t even dare lay even a finger on you. However, I will stubbornly stay here by your side and claim my right as your mate. And if you want to kick

out and not let

claim my right to you, then I guess you’ll just have to remove your mark on ."

Hearing her dare, Nathan simply flashed her a taunting smirk. He knew he had the upper hand, and didn’t bother to utter a single word.

In response, Raine tried calling his bluff. "You’re mad... I know it was wrong for

to erase your mories, but I did that knowing that you’ll get those mories back eventually."

"I know," he blankly stated. "Carlos told

as such, and you also knew about it..."

"So why not just simply touch

and get those mories back?" Raine questioned with a frown.

Nathan t her gaze. Narrowing his eyes at her, he firmly replied with a few questions of his own. "Do I look like soone that’s easy to you? I am your King!"

Watching him get mad, Raine was doing her best in stopping her laughter from coming at. Nathan was just so adorable and cute whenever he was in a grumpy mood.

"Hmm... But I want you to be easy when it cos to , darling," she cooed. "Of course, you’re my King, and I’m your Queen. I’m just claiming what’s rightfully mine, so why not claim what’s rightfully yours?"

"You-"

"Stop frowning and let’s just rest, alright?" Raine cut him off, pressing her attack as she stepped forward. "If you insist on making

leave, or if you yourself leave, then I guess I’ll just take it as you being afraid of . I’m pretty confident that I can stay with you without touching you, but I doubt you’ll be able to do the sa..."

Having made her point, Raine didn’t bother waiting for him to answer, and instead just comfortably walked back into the bedroom. Grabbing her nightgown, she went straight to the bathroom to freshen up before going to bed.

Having left standing behind her, Nathan quietly observed all her movents. Absently, he grabbed a bottle of whisky and poured himself a glass to drink while looking at the bathroom door. He rubbed his temples as he waited, recalling all the protests, complaints, and negative feedback coming from elders and officers due to Raine’s arrival.

After a few monts, the door opened, and Raine walked out of the bathroom wearing her nightgown. Looking more closely, however, he quickly noted that she was practically naked under the sheer clothing.

Feeling confident, Raine t Nathan’s stare as she seductively smiled at him. "Stop drooling and pick your jaw up from the floor. Feel free to touch

whenever you want, okay?"

Hearing her smug tone, Nathan imdiately looked towards a direction that wasn’t towards her as he downed his drink in one gulp. Taking it as her victory, Raine shook her head and simply laid down on the bed without even bothering to pull the sheets up and cover herself. She was smiling, wondering how Nathan could ever keep up with his facade at this rate.

Nathan, on the other hand, sighed deeply at what was happening. Raine’s presence was driving him crazy, but he knew that he shouldn’t give in to her that easily. She deserved to be punished for what she did! True, he understood why she did it in the first place, but he simply couldn’t ignore the fact that she did those things behind his back. Still, being in the sa room as her would kill him! If he didn’t do anything, he would surely lose himself in no ti.

Having decided that there was valor in running away, Nathan left the room without uttering a single word.

Back on the bed, Raine blew air on her lashes as she heard the door shut. She had already expected this outco, but it was still disappointing that it happened.

"I guess I’ll be sleeping alone here, cuddling this pillow while thinking about you," she mumbled with a pout. She missed him so much, but she was more than willing to wait for him.

"Oh," Raine chuckled to herself. "I almost forgot about the mind link..."

Letting out a sigh, she telepathically sent her ssage, [I miss you so much... I hope you co back here so you can cuddle

with your warmth.]
